  • Bryce Miller Dazzles Against Reds

    Headshot for Bryce Miller

Seattle Mariners starting pitcher Bryce Miller shut down the Cincinnati Reds while tallying a win in Wednesday's 5-1 victory, tossing six innings of one-run ball on one hit with seven strikeouts. Reds star Elly De La Cruz may have taken Miller deep in the second inning, but the hurler was perfect for his other five frames otherwise. Following the 25-year-old former top prospect's brilliant day on the mound, he sports a shiny 1.85 ERA, 0.82 WHIP, and 24:7 K:BB over 24 1/3 frames (four starts). Miller's next start lines up for next Wednesday on the road against the defending-champion Texas Rangers, who torched him for 13 runs in seven innings last season. Fantasy managers in season-long leagues will have a difficult decision to make for that one, but Miller might be throwing too well to sit right now.

  • Bryce Miller Strikes Out Seven In First Win Of 2024

    Headshot for Bryce Miller

Seattle Mariners right-hander Bryce Miller allowed three hits and one walk while striking out across seven across seven scoreless innings in Saturday's 5-3 win over the Milwaukee Brewers. He picked up his first win of the season. The 25-year-old threw 78 pitches, landing 53 for strikes. He bounced back on Saturday after surrendering two homers and yielding four earned runs in his previous start. Miller owns a 3.00 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 13 strikeouts over 12 innings in 2024. Miller will look to build on Saturday's performance at his next start on Friday at home against the Chicago Cubs. Fantasy managers should continue to start Miller in all leagues.

  • Offseason In Review: Seattle Mariners

    Headshot for Cory Abbott

The Mariners’ front office operated under tight payroll restrictions from ownership in light of uncertainty regarding the team’s television contract this offseason. That didn’t stop “Trader Jerry” Dipoto, the team’s president of baseball operations, from aggressively overhauling the roster with a series of trades colored by monetary implications. (This year’s Mariners Review might include the…

  • Bryce Miller Adding A Splitter To His Arsenal

    Headshot for Bryce Miller

Seattle Mariners right-hander Bryce Miller, who had an up-and-down first year in the big leagues in 2023, said he was only using two pitches (fastball and gyro slider) against left-handed hitters late in the year. "When I'm 70% heater, it's a pretty easy guessing game," Miller said. He limited righties to a .200/.234/.315 slash line, but lefties hit .303/.358/.558 against him. After reviewing his rookie season, the 25-year-old decided a splitter could serve him better against lefties than his changeup. Miller has been working on the new pitch all offseason and has modeled it after two-time All-Star Kevin Gausman's. Miller has also focused on improving his sweeper, a pitch that batters hit .300 against in 2023. He showed a solid fantasy foundation in his first MLB season and has plenty of upside, especially if his new splitter is more effective against lefties.
