Cincinnati Reds infielder Christian Encarnacion-Strand is back in the starting lineup Tuesday night against the Minnesota Twins and right-hander Kenta Maeda. The rookie didn't appear in his club's series-opening 7-3 win on Monday but will return to hit seventh and play third base for the second of three games with the Twins. The 23-year-old has had a nice debut season as he's hitting .273 with eight home runs, two stolen bases, and a .771 OPS across 198 trips to the plate. In fact, Encarnacion-Strand is 4-for-7 with two HR, one SB, and four RBI over his last two games. Interestingly, all eight of his home runs and 13 of his 15 extra-base hits have come against right-handed pitching for the righty-swinging infielder.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand Starting On The Bench

Cincinnati Reds rookie third baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand will start Thursday's game against the Detroit Tigers on the bench for the third time in the last four games. Spencer Steer is starting at third base and batting third, while Jake Fraley is the designated hitter and batting leadoff against Tigers right-hander Reese Olson. Now that Fraley and Joey Votto are back from the injured list, Encarnacion-Strand hasn't seen as much regular playing time for Cincy. The 23-year-old rookie has hit .263 (46-for-175) with six home runs, seven doubles, 22 RBI and 18 runs scored in his first 50 major-league contests this year. As long as the Reds remain healthy the rest of the way, Encarnacion-Strand may struggle to find consistent at-bats.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand Back In Action Wednesday

Cincinnati Reds infielder Christian Encarnacion-Strand is back in the starting lineup Wednesday night against the Detroit Tigers and left-hander Eduardo Rodriguez. The rookie hasn't appeared since Saturday against the Cardinals as he also sat out Sunday before Monday's off day. It's been a decent initial showing for the 23-year-old who owns a .260 average with six homers, one stolen base, and a .721 OPS across 187 trips to the plate since his big-league promotion. A 4.8% BB% has hurt his overall numbers while it appears Encarnacion-Strand has been on the fortunate side of things considering his elevated .345 BABIP. He will man first base and hit sixth Wednesday against the Tigers' ace.

Reds Activate Jonathan India, Joey Votto From IL On Sunday

The Cincinnati Reds reinstated second baseman Jonathan India (foot) and first baseman Joey Votto (shoulder) from the injured list ahead of Sunday's series finale versus the division-rival St. Louis Cardinals. India has been sidelined since the end of July with plantar fasciitis in his left foot, but he is activated a few days earlier than anticipated. The 26-year-old, batting seventh and defending the keystone on Sunday, is slashing a strong .267/.354/.453 with 20 home runs, 77 RBI, and 12 stolen bases in 585 trips to the dish. Votto has been out since Aug. 24 due to left shoulder discomfort, and he returns on time per manager David Bell's expectations. The 39-year-old, who bounces Christian Encarnacion-Strand from the cold corner and hits sixth for this one, is slashing an effective .200/.303/.459 with 13 home runs and 33 RBI in 195 trips to the plate.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand Walks It Off

Cincinnati Reds designated hitter Christian Encarnacion-Strand hit a walk-off home run Friday night against the Toronto Blue Jays. It was a 1-0 game, with the homer coming with one out in the inning. It was the only hit for the young power hitter as he went 1-for-4. He now has four home runs and 15 RBI in 95 ABs and strikeouts have been a problem for him in the early going of his career. It was a nice way to end the night, but he can be avoided in most leagues at this time.

Cincinnati Reds rookie third baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand (hand) left the game early on Friday night against the Pittsburgh Pirates after being hit on the hand by a pitch. Fortunately, he avoided a serious injury after X-rays came back negative. Encarnacion-Strand finished his game 0-for-2 with a strikeout and the hit by pitch before being replaced by Henry Ramos at designated hitter. Fantasy managers should consider the 23-year-old infielder to be day-to-day for now, but don't be surprised if he sits out Saturday's contest as a precaution. Encarnacion-Strand is the Reds' No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, and he has impressive raw power. He has 52 home runs in the last two seasons in the minors and came into Friday's game with three home runs and a .270 average (20-for-74) in his first 22 big-league contests.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand Trending Up, Swats Homer In Loss

Cincinnati Reds designated hitter/first baseman Christian Encarnacion-Strand went 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBI in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Miami Marlins. The 23-year-old thumped a two-run jack in the fourth inning before plating another run on a sixth-inning single. Encarnacion-Strand is yet to fully turn heads since his July 17 call-up, but he's beginning to reveal the upside that made him such a hot fantasy pickup upon promotion. The No. 4 Reds prospect is now batting .324 (12-for-37) with two long balls, two doubles, and seven RBI in his last 10 games. Some redraft fantasy managers may have cut bait on CES amid his sluggish start, so make sure the slugger isn't lingering around any waiver wires as his arrow points up.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand Hits First Career Homer Tuesday

Cincinnati Reds corner-infield prospect Christian Encarnacion-Strand showed why he is such an intriguing fantasy player in Tuesday's 11-10 loss to the Giants. The 23-year-old came into his second career big-league game to pinch-hit and play third base and went 2-for-3 with a single and a three-run home run. Encarnacion-Strand is one of many exciting, young Reds players and is the team's No. 5 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. His average and power potential are well-known among fantasy managers and he is currently rostered in 55% of leagues. His upside and success at Triple-A Louisville make him worth an add in most leagues at this time.

Cincinnati Reds infield prospect Christian Encarnacion-Strand is serving as the designated hitter and is batting seventh in the lineup on Monday in his major-league debut against the San Francisco Giants and right-hander Logan Webb. It was only a matter of time before Encarnacion-Strand made his big-league debut for the Reds in 2023 after he hit an impressive .331/.405/.637 with 20 long balls, 21 doubles, two triples, 62 RBI and 65 runs scored in 67 games for Triple-A Louisville. The Reds' No. 5 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, could see most of his at-bats at DH for the Reds, but he can also play third and first base. The 23-year-old needs to be added in all fantasy formats immediately because of his impressive raw power. Encarnacion-Strand is currently rostered in 46% of Yahoo leagues.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand Being Called Up

The Cincinnati Reds are calling up No. 6 prospect Christian Encarnacion-Strand. The young infielder was scratched from Sunday's lineup at Triple-A Louisville, suggesting this could be the case. The suddenly-scuffling Reds offense is now making the call to the farm to promote one of their top hitting prospects. The 23-year-old figures to form a platoon with the lefty-hitting Joey Votto at first base, with third base mostly occupied by Elly De La Cruz. However, Encarnacion-Strand could see some action in right field or perhaps even become Cincinnati's everyday designated hitter with some strong hitting. Encarnacion-Strand is hitting .331 with a 1.042 OPS, 20 home runs, 62 RBI, and two stolen bases over 278 at-bats in the minors this year. He's an immediate waiver wire add across all fantasy formats.

Christian Encarnacion-Strand Continues To Shine In Triple-A

Cincinnati Reds first base prospect Christian Encarnacion-Strand went 1-for-4 on Monday and is now hitting .320 with 18 homers, 54 RBI and a 1.010 OPS in 244 at-bats. Encarnacion-Strand has been having a dominant season on the farm, but the Reds haven't had any openings at first base and the recent return of Joey Votto has only complicated the situation. The slugger has previous experience at third base and recently got some starts in right field to expand his versatility. Knocking on the door of a promotion, Encarnacion-Strand makes for a strong stash in redraft leagues with his immense power in a favorable home ballpark.
