  • Jackson Chourio Hits Two-Run Homer, Swipes Base Monday

    Headshot for Jackson Chourio

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio had a nice game at the plate in Monday's 7-3 loss to the Padres. Chourio went 2-for-4 with a single, a two-run home run, a walk, and a stolen base. The 20-year-old top prospect has done a bit of everything offensively to start the season, slashing .259/.305/.444 with three HR, seven runs scored, 11 RBI, and three stolen bases in 59 plate appearances.

  • Jackson Chourio Taking A Seat On Sunday

    Headshot for Jackson Chourio

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio (rest) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. This appears to be a routine rest day for the rookie outfielder. The expectation is that Chourio will return to the lineup for their next game. In the meantime, Joey Wiemer is getting the start in left field, and Blake Perkins in center field versus right-hander Corbin Burnes. Neither of them are ideal streaming options for Sunday's slate.

  • Jackson Chourio Hits First Home Run Wednesday

    Headshot for Jackson Chourio

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio hit his first home run of the season and of his MLB career on Wednesday in a 7-3 loss to the Twins. It was his only hit in the game, going 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored. The 20-year-old has now hit safely in the first five games of his career, and is now 7-for-20 (.350) with four RBI, a run scored, and a stolen base. He spent the last few games batting ninth but was back atop the lineup on Wednesday. He's off to a nice start to 2024 and to his career, but for fantasy purposes we certainly would like to see him in the leadoff spot more often than not. Hopefully he continues his consistent hitting which should give the Brewers more reason to keep him there, especially with his speed.

  • Jackson Chourio Back In Leadoff Spot

    Headshot for Jackson Chourio

Milwaukee Brewers rookie outfielder Jackson Chourio is starting in right field and is back in the leadoff spot on Wednesday versus the visiting Minnesota Twins and right-hander Chris Paddack. With Chourio back in the top spot, outfielder Sal Frelick moves down the order to No. 6. The 20-year-old was the team's leadoff hitter on Opening Day last Thursday but then hit ninth the next three games against righties. The Venezuelan outfielder has earned more time atop the batting order by going 6-for-16 (.375) with a double, three RBI and a stolen base in his first four major-league contests. Chourio signed a record-setting $80 million extension with Milwaukee in the offseason before even playing in his first big-league game, so if he continues to hit well, we should see him atop the batting order more often than not.

  • Jackson Chourio Leading Off In Brewers Opener

    Headshot for Jackson Chourio

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio will hit leadoff in the team's Opening Day matchup on Friday against the New York Mets. It was expected that the 20-year-old rookie would spend some time near the bottom of the order, but with lefty Jose Quintana on the hill, the Brewers have decided to see what Chourio can do to set the table. If he performs today he could continue seeing opportunities out of the leadoff spot. There is a ton of excitement for MLB Pipeline's number two prospect, and deservedly so. He has 25 homer, 40 steal upside if things fall his way.

  • Jackson Chourio Will Start In Right Field Friday

    Headshot for Jackson Chourio

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio will start in right field for Friday's Opening Day matchup against the New York Mets. It remains to be seen where manager Pat Murphy will slot Chourio in Milwaukee's batting order, but it's fair to expect the 20-year-old speedster to find himself in the lower part of the lineup during the early goings of the campaign. That doesn't mean Chourio won't work his way up to a more favorable spot over time; the No. 2 prospect in baseball slashed a promising .323/.373/.403 with four extra-base hits, four RBI, and two stolen bases over 62 spring training at-bats. Garrett Mitchell (hand) will miss at least the first month of the season, so Chourio will have an extended opportunity with the Brewers to showcase his exciting power and speed potential and is a threat to record 20 home runs and 20 stolen bases in his rookie year.

  • Jackson Chourio Makes Opening Day Roster

    Headshot for Jackson Chourio

In a move that many expected when the Milwaukee Brewers signed outfield prospect Jackson Chourio to an eight-year, $82 million contract extension, he will officially be part of the team's Opening Day roster, according to sources. Chourio, 20, will be the youngest player in team history since Robin Yount to make his MLB debut on Opening Day. He's the second-ranked prospect in all of baseball wasn't a sure thing to start the year in the majors given the team's crowded outfield picture, and despite some defensive troubles this spring, he's impressed the Brewers with his ability to hold his own at the plate against big-league pitching this spring. Chourio has hit .286 with a .347 on-base percentage and .490 slugging percentage through 272 minor-league games since 2021, clubbing 47 homers and stealing 68 bases. He'll likely start in center field and should be considered a No. 3 fantasy outfielder despite never appearing in a major-league game.

  • Jackson Chourio "In The Mix" For Roster Spot

    Headshot for Jackson Chourio

Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy said that outfield prospect Jackson Chourio "is in the mix" to be on the team's Opening Day roster. Murphy also said that infielder Joey Ortiz "has a good shot to make the club." It would be a surprise if the 20-year-old Chourio wasn't on Milwaukee's Opening Day roster after they signed him to a huge extension this offseason. However, the Brew Crew do have a stacked outfield with Christian Yelich, Garrett Mitchell, Sal Frelick and Joey Wiemer in the fold. Chourio is hitting .283/.313/.348 in the Cactus League but with no home runs and no stolen bases. The Brewers clearly view him as a staple in their outfield for years to come, but perhaps they feel that he needs some more minor-league seasoning to begin the year. Either way, fantasy managers should still view Chourio as an enticing No. 3 outfielder with tons of upside.

  • Jackson Chourio Offers It All

    Headshot for Jackson Chourio

Milwaukee Brewers outfield prospect Jackson Chourio went 3-for-3 with a run and RBI during Tuesdays Cactus League loss against the San Francisco Giants. The 19-year-old phenom is now hitting .304 with two RBI over his first 23 at-bats. Signed to an eight-year, $82 million contract this offseason, Chourio is slated to make his big-league debut as an everyday outfielder in 2024. With the ability to hit for power and swipe bags, Chourio makes for an exciting 2/3 outfield option with immense upside heading into the season. Managers in all formats should be keeping tabs on the Rookie of the Year candidate with his value likely to keep climbing as we get closer to Opening Day.
