  • Jose Miranda's Arm Showing Improvement

Minnesota Twins corner infielder Jose Miranda's (shoulder) throwing arm is showing improvement in camp and he's expected to start the Grapefruit League game on Tuesday at first base, according to manager Rocco Baldelli. Miranda has been the designated hitter in all 10 of his spring games after being shut down last month with right shoulder soreness. He's currently throwing at 120 feet, and the Twins want to see him play third base before spring training ends. The 24-year-old hasn't been affected by his shoulder at all when he swings a bat. Miranda impressed late in his rookie season in 2022 and will be a lineup regular for the Twins with above-average power and strong contact rates.

  • Twins Notes: Buxton, Polanco, Gordon, Miranda, Kirilloff, Rotation

Chief baseball officer Derek Falvey met with reporters (including Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press and’s Do-Hyoung Park) today at the Twins’ spring camp, and provided several injury updates.  The news is particularly good for Byron Buxton and Jorge Polanco, as Falvey said both players are on track to be in the…

  • Twins To Rotate At Designated Hitter

Minnesota Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said the team expects to use multiple players at designated hitter this year. It wouldn't be surprising to see the Twins use the spot to give players such as Byron Buxton, Carlos Correa, Jorge Polanco and Jose Miranda a day off from the field. Luis Arraez made a team-high 38 appearances at DH in 2022, with Buxton (35), Gary Sanchez (33) and Miranda (20) also splitting time in the spot. Arraez and Sanchez are no longer with the team. The Twins also have a wealth of left-handed-hitting corner outfielders, so they could use the DH spot to keep some of those bats in their everyday lineup.
