  • Kyle Bradish To Make Rehab Start On Sunday

    Headshot for Kyle Bradish

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Kyle Bradish (elbow) is set to make his next rehab start with Triple-A Norfolk on Sunday. The right-hander looked sharp during his most recent rehab outing on Tuesday. The organization has bumped him up to Triple-A, but he'll likely need at least one or two more outings before he's ready to return to the O's rotation. Fantasy managers should continue to hold Bradish and be hopeful for a return in early May.

  • Kyle Bradish Has Scoreless Rehab Outing

    Headshot for Kyle Bradish

Baltimore Orioles right-hander Kyle Bradish (elbow) looked good in his first minor-league rehab start with Double-A Bowie on Tuesday, tossing three shutout innings with just one hit allowed, no walks and four strikeouts. It was a very promising first appearance for a pitcher that is trying to avoid needing surgery after being diagnosed with a partially torn UCL in spring training. The 27-year-old is going to need probably a few more starts in the minors before the Orioles feel comfortable activating him from the injured list for his season debut in the big leagues. Fantasy managers in mixed leagues should consider stashing Bradish soon for extra pitching depth after he had a breakout for the O's in 2023. The former fourth-rounder in 2018 by the Los Angeles Angels out of New Mexico State went 12-7 with a 2.83 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 44 walks and 168 K's in 30 starts a year ago.

  • Kyle Bradish To Make A Rehab Start Tuesday

    Headshot for Kyle Bradish

Baltimore Orioles right-hander Kyle Bradish (elbow) will make his first minor-league rehab start on Tuesday with Double-A Bowie. Bradish is hoping to go two to three innings or 40 to 50 pitches in his first rehab start this week. The 27-year-old is recovering from a partial tear to his right UCL, so the Orioles are probably going to be pretty cautious with him as he attempts to return to the major-league rotation. There's no guarantee that Bradish will be able to get through all of the 2024 season without suffering a setback that would require season-ending Tommy John surgery, but the hope for now is that he can return to the O's rotation and avoid going under the knife. After his breakout performance in 2023, Bradish deserves to be stashed in an IL spot for now in at least deep-mixed fantasy leagues.

  • Kyle Bradish Set For Rehab Assignment

    Headshot for Kyle Bradish

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Kyle Bradish (elbow) will pitch for Double-A Bowie this week as he continues his recovery from a sprained UCL. The 27-year-old has not suffered any setbacks or noticed a downtick in velocity during his throwing sessions. Bradish will likely need around three rehab starts before returning to the majors as he missed all of spring training. He was fantastic for the Orioles in 2023, posting a 12-7 record to go along with a 2.83 ERA, 1.04 WHIP and 168/44 K/BB. Bradish deserves to be rostered in all formats as he nears closer to his return.

  • Kyle Bradish Throws Bullpen Session On Saturday

    Headshot for Kyle Bradish

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Kyle Bradish (elbow) was seen throwing a bullpen session prior to Saturday's game. This is a significant step for Bradish as he hopes to begin a rehab stint later this week. Baltimore manager Brandon Hyde expressed his confidence and stated that Bradish is scheduled to join Double-A Bowie later in the week. Bradish looks to be nearing the end of his recovery from a sprained UCL injury that he was diagnosed with at the beginning of Spring Training. The 27-year-old was excellent last season as he pitched to a 2.83 ERA and 1.04 WHIP and was dominant in the stretch run as he held a 2.34 ERA and 0.91 WHIP in the second half and should slotted right into the rotation when he is cleared.

  • Kyle Bradish To Throw Live Batting Practice Thursday

    Headshot for Kyle Bradish

Baltimore Orioles right-hander Kyle Bradish (elbow) was supposed to begin his minor-league rehab assignment on Thursday night with High-A Aberdeen, but the team is now saying he'll throw a live batting practice session instead due to the weather. Bradish is getting a late start to his 2024 season after breaking out in 2023 by going 12-7 with a 2.83 ERA (3.27 FIP) and 1.04 WHIP with 44 walks and a career-high 168 strikeouts in 168 2/3 innings over 30 starts. He was diagnosed with a sprained UCL in his right elbow back in spring training, but for now the 27-year-old has avoided dreaded Tommy John surgery and could make his season debut with the O's at some point next week. After his big year last season, Bradish should be assured of a rotation spot when he's ready, which means Tyler Wells could be the odd-man out soon.

  • Kyle Bradish To Begin Rehab Assignment

    Headshot for Kyle Bradish

The Orioles announced yesterday that Kyle Bradish has joined the squad at High-A Aberdeen and will begin a rehab assignment soon. He's been on the 15-day injured list since the beginning of the season. The news is surely pleasant for fans of the O's, especially considering where things stood just a couple of months ago....

  • Kyle Bradish Begins Rehab Assignment

    Headshot for Kyle Bradish

Baltimore Orioles right-handed pitcher Kyle Bradish (elbow) has joined High-A Aberdeen on Tuesday to begin his minor-league rehab assignment. Bradish was diagnosed with a sprain in the UCL of his right elbow and began the season on the injured list. The right-hander missed most of spring training and will likely need most of the 30-day rehab window to build back up. Last season, Bradish went 12-7 with a 2.83 ERA in 30 starts for the Orioles, so he's worth stashing in deep-mixed and AL-only leagues if you have the room.

  • Kyle Bradish, John Means Not Expected To Be Out For Long

    Headshot for Kyle Bradish

Baltimore Orioles right-hander Kyle Bradish (elbow) and left-hander John Means (elbow) are both expected to pitch early in the first half of the 2024 season, according to manager Brandon Hyde. Bradish is recovering from a right UCL sprain, while Means has a left-elbow injury. There's no specific timetable for either pitcher to make their debut this year, and it's a good bet that both of them won't be ready to return until at least late April. Bradish, 27, is the more attractive fantasy arm after he had a mini breakout in 2023 by going 12-7 with a 2.83 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 44 walks and 168 strikeouts in 168 2/3 innings covering 30 starts. Means, 30, had Tommy John surgery in 2022 and has made only six starts the last two seasons as a result.

Between a new owner, a new lease at Camden Yards, and one of the offseason’s biggest trades, the Orioles made plenty of news on and off the field this winter.  Now the question is whether the reigning AL East champions can take the next step forward to challenge for a World Series title. • Kyle Bradish's Elbow Responding Well

    Headshot for Kyle Bradish

Baltimore Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that right-hander Kyle Bradish's elbow is responding "well right now" to throwing in camp. Bradish "might have spun a couple breaking balls" but he has mostly been throwing fastballs. The 27-year-old resumed throwing off a mound last week as he tries to recover from a partially torn UCL that he was diagnosed with earlier this spring. Bradish had a mini breakout for the Orioles in 2023, and his fantasy profile was trending up heading into the 2024 campaign before suffering his elbow injury early in camp. With the possibility of needing Tommy John surgery down the road this year if rest and recovery don't work, it makes Bradish a pretty risky fantasy commodity. There's no timetable for his 2024 debut, but he should at least be expected to miss the first month of the season.

  • Kyle Bradish Throws Bullpen Wednesday

    Headshot for Kyle Bradish

Baltimore Orioles right-hander Kyle Bradish (elbow) threw a bullpen session off a mound in camp on Wednesday and only threw fastballs. Manager Brandon Hyde said that Bradish felt good afterward. It's a big step for the 27-year-old, as it was his first time throwing off a mound since he was diagnosed with a partial tear of his UCL in February. Despite the big step, Bradish still has a ways to go before he's ready to make his 2024 regular season debut, and he will begin the year on the injured list. He was a breakout arm for the O's and fantasy managers in 2023 by going 12-7 with a 2.83 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 168 strikeouts in 168 2/3 frames over 30 starts, but fantasy managers should be very wary of him this year. Even though he's trending in the right direction now, surgery could still be on the table if he has a setback along the way.

  • Kyle Bradish Throws From 90 Feet Wednesday

    Headshot for Kyle Bradish

Baltimore Orioles starting pitcher Kyle Bradish (elbow) threw from 90 feet again on Wednesday. He continues to make progress in his recovery from a right UCL sprain and subsequent PRP injection. Bradish impressed to the tune of a 3.27 FIP, 8.96 K/9, 2.35 BB/9, and 49.2 GB% in 2023, putting him in line for a steady rotation role as soon as he's healthy. The hurler recently said he has been making great progress, but he's still going to open the regular season on the injured list.

  • Kyle Bradish Feeling Good

    Headshot for Kyle Bradish

Baltimore Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said that right-hander Kyle Bradish (elbow) is doing well at spring training. "He feels good. Everything's going well. Progressing nicely, and he's feeling good after he's playing catch," Hyde said. Bradish is recovering from a partial UCL tear in his right elbow and was able to extend out to playing catch at 90 feet on Tuesday. The Orioles and the 27-year-old are hoping that Bradish can avoid Tommy John surgery with rest and rehab. Even if Bradish eventually bounces back and avoids going under the knife, he's going to need to start the 2024 season on the injured list. It's a tough break after his breakout 2023 campaign in which he went 12-7 with a 2.83 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 168 K's in 30 starts. Fantasy managers should expect some regression in his third MLB season.

  • Kyle Bradish Plays Catch Tuesday

    Headshot for Kyle Bradish

Baltimore Orioles right-hander Kyle Bradish (elbow) played catch out to 90 feet at spring training on Tuesday. Bradish is dealing with a partial tear of UCL in camp but is hoping that rest and rehab will help him avoid Tommy John surgery, which would keep him out for all of the 2023 season. The 27-year-old had a platelet-rich plasma injection and is throwing multiple times per week. Even if he avoids Tommy John surgery, Bradish will open the 2024 regular season on the injured list for the Orioles. Bradish was a breakout candidate for Baltimore and for fantasy managers last year, but he's already off to a bad start in 2024, and it would be wise to expect some regression if he doesn't eventually succumb to elbow reconstruction.

  • Kyle Bradish "Very Confident" He'll Pitch This Year

    Headshot for Kyle Bradish

Baltimore Orioles right-hander Kyle Bradish (elbow) is "very confident" he'll get past his right UCL sprain and pitch for the team in 2024. Bradish is scheduled to throw on Friday for the first time since receiving a platelet-rich plasma injection in his right elbow. The 27-year-old is going to open the 2024 regular season on the injured list, but the hope right now is that he'll eventually be able to recover through rest and rehab and can avoid having Tommy John surgery, which would wipe out his entire season. He was a breakout performer for Baltimore in 2023, posting a 2.83 ERA, 1.04 WHIP, 168 strikeouts and 44 walks in 30 starts (168 2/3 innings), but his injury to begin this season puts him off the fantasy radar in shallow mixed leagues.

  • Kyle Bradish To Start Season On Injured List

    Headshot for Kyle Bradish

Baltimore Orioles right-hander Kyle Bradish (elbow) will go on the injured list with a UCL sprain in his right elbow. The 27-year-old has received a platelet-rich plasma injection in his arm and will begin a throwing program on Friday. This is really scary news for anyone that was hoping to target Bradish in their fantasy drafts because if rest and rehab don't work, he'll likely need to have Tommy John surgery, which would cause him to miss the entire season. He had a breakout 2023 campaign with the O's, posting a 2.83 ERA and 1.04 WHIP with 168 strikeouts and 44 walks in 168 2/3 innings over his 30 starts, but he's off to a bad start already in 2024. Even with no injury in the picture, Bradish was a candidate for some regression this year after having a fortunate .270 BABIP.
