Jordan Lawlar Taking A Seat Tuesday Night

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop Jordan Lawlar is not in the club's starting lineup Tuesday night against the New York Mets and right-hander Jose Butto. The 21-year-old has gotten into four games since being promoted to the big leagues but is just 1-for-13 with an RBI, a stolen base, and a hit-by-pitch across 14 trips to the plate. That said, it's hard to argue Arizona's decision to promote their top prospect as Lawlar raked to the tune of a .358 average with five homers, three SB, and a 1.050 OPS across 16 games at Triple-A. He also hit 15 HR alongside 33 SB and an .840 OPS across 89 games at Double-A this season. Geraldo Perdomo will take over at shortstop and hit ninth Tuesday in New York.

Diamondbacks Release Nick Ahmed

The D-Backs released Nick Ahmed over the weekend, tweets Theo Mackie of the Arizona Republic. He’s officially a free agent. There was never any doubt the veteran shortstop would hit the open market after Arizona designated him for assignment last Wednesday. Players in DFA limbo have to go on waivers after the trade deadline. Ahmed…

A hearty welcome to Pete Crow-Armstrong. We discussed his case for promotion last week. Though he had seven hits in 10 plate appearances over the weekend, this promotion is all about his glove. Anything he adds with his bat is gravy. We'll cover more recent and potential call-ups in today's edition of Big Hype Prospects.…

Sep 7 · MLB Trade Rumors Prospects Diamondbacks Jordan LawlarDiamondbacks Set To Promote Jordan Lawlar

The Arizona Diamondbacks are planning to promote their top prospect, Jordan Lawlar, from Triple-A Reno before Thursday's series opener against the Chicago Cubs, according to a source. The Diamondbacks are pulling out all the stops as they try to secure a wild-card spot in the National League this year. Lawlar started his first career game at third base on Tuesday for Reno, a signal that the former sixth overall pick in 2021 would be coming up to Arizona. He started the year at Double-A Amarillo but has been red-hot for the last three months, hitting .325/.413/.565 with 15 homers and 25 stolen bases in his last 71 games. The 21-year-old has been even better at Reno, hitting .358 (24-for-67) with five homers, 19 RBI and three steals in 16 games. Lawlar should see regular starts between third base and shortstop with the Snakes and should be a priority addition for fantasy managers off the waiver wire.

Jordan Lawlar Showing Why He Got Promoted

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop prospect Jordan Lawlar went 2-for-3 with a walk on Wednesday for Triple-A Reno. The Diamondbacks top prospect was promoted to Reno three days ago and been off to a hot start. In his first two games, the 21-year-old has gone 3-for-7 with a homer, two runs, four RBI and three walks. Lawlar was dominant for Double-A Amarillo with a .263 batting average to go together with 15 home runs, 48 RBI and 33 stolen bases. With the Diamondbacks off to a slow start in the second half, Lawlar may be the piece they need to get back in the Wild Card race. With his ability to go to all fields with power and run the bases well, Lawlar has all the makings of a strong fantasy contributor. The promotion to Triple-A means that they are at least likely to consider giving him a promotion, in which case redraft managers should add him in most formats. In dynasty leagues, Lawlar should already be rostered for years to come.

Jordan Lawlar Promoted To Triple-A

The Arizona Diamondbacks are promoting shortstop Jordan Lawlar, the team's top overall prospect per MLB Pipeline, to Triple-A Reno on Monday. Lawlar is the third-ranked shortstop prospect and the No. 10 prospect in all of baseball. He gets the promotion after slashing .263/.366/.474 with 15 home runs, 23 doubles, three triples, 48 RBI, 33 stolen bases and 77 runs scored in 410 plate appearances and 89 games for Double-A Amarillo. The 21-year-old former sixth overall pick in the 2021 draft won't necessarily be a candidate to come up for the D-backs in September of this year, but he should make his major-league debut at some point in 2024. Lawlar has all the skills to be an All-Star at the next level at a premium position.

Jordan Lawlar Hits 14th Home Run

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop prospect Jordan Lawlar hit his 14th home run of the season in a 2-for-5 showing for Double-A Amarillo. While he started the season cold, he has rounded back to top-prospect form. Since May 30, Lawlar is slashing .302/.393/.553 with nine home runs, 25 RBI, 49 runs, and 16 stolen bases in 44 games, raising his OPS from .666 on May 30 to now .824. With the Diamondbacks low on infield depth after trading Josh Rojas, Lawlar could get a September call-up. He is worth watching or stashing in redraft leagues.

Jordan Lawlar Continues To Make Case For Promotion

Arizona Diamondbacks shortstop prospect Jordan Lawlar went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run for Double-A Amarillo on Monday. The three-run blast was his 13th of the season to go along with 39 RBI, 26 stolen bases and a .243 batting average. The 21-year-old got off to a cold start in April and May, but got on a roll in June and finished the month with a .302 batting average, four homers, 11 RBI and 11 stolen bases. Throughout his time on the farm, Lawlar has helped across the board and has the makings of a fantasy superstar with some more seasoning and consistency. The Diamondbacks are competing and in one of the hardest divisions in baseball and that could lead to Lawlar skipping Triple-A and getting a ticket to the show in 2023. Lawlar's competition, All-Star, Geraldo Perdomo, has slowed down significantly since his hot start to the season. With the Diamondbacks not being shy about promoting young star prospects this season and competing, it wouldn't be a shock to see Lawlar be the next man up. He is worth a watch list or stash add in redraft leagues, while his best value remains in dynasty leagues.
