  • Aaron Ashby Hoping To Return In Mid-May

Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Aaron Ashby (shoulder) is taking it slow after suffering a left shoulder injury that required a platelet-rich plasma injection, and he is hoping to make his season debut in mid-May. "It's a shoulder impingement, labral tear. That sounds really bad but everyone has these; it's just kind of how it affects you," Ashby said. The 24-year-old southpaw was able to play catch on flat ground on Wednesday in camp at a distance of around 75 feet. He went 2-10 last year with a 4.44 ERA, but he struck out 126 hitters in 107 1/3 innings and has plenty of long-term strikeout upside for fantasy managers. Ashby is stash-worthy in NL-only leagues, but you can probably leave him to the waiver wire in mixed leagues to begin the 2023 season.

  • Brewers Notes: Taylor, Ashby, Adames

Brewers outfielder Tyrone Taylor has a sprained elbow that will keep him out of action for the first two weeks of spring games, with Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel relaying word from manager Craig Counsell. There is no structural damage and Taylor will just need rest, though this will delay his ramp-up to…

  • Aaron Ashby Hopes To Return By Mid-May

Milwaukee Brewers left-hander Aaron Ashby (shoulder) hopes to be pitching for the team by the middle of May if everything goes well in his recovery from a left shoulder impingement and a slight labral tear. The 24-year-old southpaw needed a platelet-rich plasma injection in his shoulder in late January, which will cause him to miss the first at least a month of the 2023 season. Ashby went 2-10 with a 4.44 ERA (4.06 FIP), 1.42 WHIP, one save and 26.5 percent strikeout rate in 107 1/3 innings over 27 appearances (19 starts) last year in his second MLB campaign. Despite his injury, he still has plenty of long-term appeal in fantasy, although those in shallow mixed leagues can safely leave him to the waiver to begin this season.

  • Aaron Ashby Expected To Miss A Couple Months

The Milwaukee Brewers expect left-hander Aaron Ashby (shoulder) to miss "a couple months" with shoulder inflammation, according to manager Craig Counsell. Ashby was going to be behind the other pitchers in Brewers camp due to a left shoulder issue, and now he's going to miss the first couple months of the 2023 season. It obviously puts a huge dent in the 24-year-old southpaw's fantasy value for the upcoming campaign. Ashby went 2-10 with a 4.44 ERA (4.06 FIP), 1.42 WHIP, one save and 26.5 percent strikeout rate in 27 appearances (19 starts) covering 107 1/3 innings in his second MLB season with the Brew Crew. He's been a disappointment so far, but there remains plenty of strikeout upside once he's back to full health.

  • Aaron Ashby Unlikely To Be Ready For Opening Day

The Milwaukee Brewers aren't expecting left-handed starter Aaron Ashby (shoulder) to be ready for Opening Day this year while dealing with more shoulder issues. "It's a remnant from last year that manifested itself as he ramped up throwing again," manager Craig Counsell said. "We had to take a pretty big step back as far as rest." This was pretty much a foregone conclusion when the injury news broke on Wednesday, so fantasy managers will need to plan for Ashby to miss some time early on this year. The 24-year-old southpaw is still young with plenty of strikeout upside, but command issues and injury concerns make him a pretty shaky fantasy asset right now.

  • Aaron Ashby To Be Delayed Due To Shoulder Fatigue

Milwaukee Brewers general manager Matt Arnold said that left-hander Aaron Ashby (shoulder) will be behind in spring training with what the team is calling shoulder fatigue. Ashby spent three weeks on the injured last year with shoulder inflammation, so the Brewers will play it safe with him this spring. It's not exactly what you want to hear with pitchers and catchers reporting to camp very soon. The 24-year-old southpaw had a 4.44 ERA (4.06 FIP), a 1.42 WHIP, one save and 126 strikeouts in 107 1/3 innings for Milwaukee last year over 27 appearances (19 starts). Control issues and problems keeping the ball in the park have been issues for him in the past, though, but the strikeout ability makes him interesting. We'll see what happens with his shoulder situation, but there seems to be a high probability that he won't be ready for Opening Day.
