  • Latest On D-Backs' Rotation

The Diamondbacks entered Spring Training with four rotation spots in place. Zac Gallen and Merrill Kelly are the top two on the staff. Madison Bumgarner will get another crack in the middle, while Arizona brought back Zach Davies on a one-year free agent deal to take a back-end spot. Who would secure the fifth spot was one of the…

  • Brandon Pfaadt Reassigned To Minors

Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Brandon Pfaadt has been reassigned to minor league camp. The right-hander was among a huge group of cuts on Sunday. Pfaadt was the most surprising player to be cut here. He was making a legitimate case for the fifth starter role on the Opening Day roster. Before being reassigned, Pfaadt posted a 3.75 ERA and 15/4 K/BB ratio across 12 innings this spring. This leaves Drew Jameson as the favorite to win the fifth starter role in Arizona. However, Ryne Nelson and Tommy Henry are still in the mix as well. Pfaadt pitched well in the minors last season, so it shouldn't be long before he gets a chance to make an impact at the MLB level.

  • Brandon Pfaadt Continues To Make Case For Rotation Spot

Arizona Diamondbacks pitching prospect Brandon Pfaadt tossed four innings of three hit ball and gave up one run with seven strikeouts versus the Chicago Cubs on Thursday. Pfaadt pitched out of relief, but has been competing for a spot in the Diamondbacks rotation this spring. Known as one of the top strikeout artists in the minor leagues, Pfaadt recorded 218 strikeouts over 167 innings this past season between Double-A and Triple-A to go along with a 3.83 ERA. Pfaadt hasn't been as hyped up as some other pitching prospects, but the 24-year-old has a true shot of breaking camp with the Diamondbacks. Rookie pitchers are always hard to judge in redraft leagues, but managers could do worse than to bet on a young pitcher that can miss bats. As far as dynasty leagues go, it may be last call on Pfaadt.

  • Brandon Pfaadt To Make Cactus League Debut On Monday

Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Brandon Pfaadt is set to make his Cactus League debut against the Chicago Cubs on Monday. The 24-year-old is a long shot to make the roster, but looked good in the minors last season. He posted a 3.83 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and a 218/33 K/BB ratio over 167 innings. Pfaadt split time between Double-A and Triple-A last season. He's unlikely to make the Opening Day roster, but should be able to contribute at some point in 2023. That being said, Pfaadt is someone worth monitoring in deep leagues and dynasty formats.
