  • Spencer Strider Plays Catch Tuesday

Atlanta Braves right-hander Spencer Strider (oblique) played catch on flat ground on Tuesday for the first time since going on the injured list. However, the Braves won't know how much Strider has progressed until he gets back on a mound as his throwing progression continues. The 23-year-old hasn't pitched since Sept. 18 due to an oblique strain, and it remains to be seen if he'll be available for the team's starting rotation if they lock up the National League East division and won't have to play until next week's NL Division Series. He has been lights-out for the Braves in his first full big-league season in 2022, going 11-5 with a 2.67 ERA (1.83 FIP), a 0.99 WHIP, 202 strikeouts and 45 walks in 131 2/3 innings over 31 outings (20 starts).

  • Spencer Strider Unlikely To Be Ready Before NLDS

Atlanta Braves right-hander Spencer Strider (oblique) is expected to resume throwing again in the final days of the regular season early this week, but he's unlikely to be available before the National League Division Series that begins on Oct. 11. He first felt left oblique soreness in his Sept. 18 start against the Philadelphia Phillies and was put on the injured list when he continued to feel discomfort before beginning a side session on Sept. 23. The NL Rookie of the Year candidate has gone 11-5 this year with a 2.67 ERA (1.83 FIP), a 0.99 WHIP and a 202:45 K:BB over 131 2/3 innings and 31 outings (20 starts) this year. The good news is that after sweeping the division-rival New York Mets this past weekend, the Braves control their own destiny now as far as winning the NL East and getting a first-round bye in the playoffs.

  • Spencer Strider Not Throwing Yet

Atlanta Braves right-hander Spencer Strider (oblique) has yet to resume throwing. Strider went on the injured list last week with a left oblique strain. The recovery has been slow going for the hard-throwing rookie, who felt something in the injured oblique last Friday when he attempted to throw. Atlanta may be heading into the postseason without Strider, who has been one of their better pitchers in 2022. Strider has made 20 starts this year, posting an 11-5 record, 2.67 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and 202 strikeouts in 131 2/3 innings of work.

  • Braves Place Spencer Strider On The Injured List

The Atlanta Braves placed right-hander Spencer Strider (oblique) on the 15-day injured list on Saturday with strained left oblique and optioned infielder Rylan Bannon to Triple-A Gwinnett. In corresponding moves, the team reinstated infielder Ehire Adrianza (quadriceps) from the 10-day injured list and recalled right-hander Alan Rangel. Strider's IL stint is backdated to Sept. 21. The 23-year-old will miss the rest of the regular season, which is terrible news for fantasy managers, as Strider has been excellent in his second MLB season. Strider will finish 11-5 with a 2.67 ERA (1.83 FIP), a 0.99 WHIP and 202 strikeouts in 131 2/3 innings over 31 outings (20 starts). Bryce Elder is the leading candidate to take his spot in the rotation the rest of the regular season.

  • Spencer Strider Dealing With Sore Oblique

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Spencer Strider (oblique) is dealing with a sore oblique and will have his next start pushed back a few days. As a result, Bryce Elder will get the nod on Wednesday against the Washington Nationals, and left-hander Max Fried will face the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday. Strider was originally lined up to make his next start on Friday against the Phillies, but now it looks like he won't take the mound until early next week against the Nationals. The 23-year-old Strider has been a revelation for the Braves rotation this year, going 11-5 with a 2.67 ERA (1.83 FIP), a 0.99 WHIP, 202 strikeouts and 45 walks in 131 2/3 innings over 31 outings (20 starts). He'll be a must-start for fantasy managers next time he's out there.

The rookie also generated 19 swinging strikes on 106 pitches and finished with a 34% CSW rate. For the season, the 23-year-old owns a 2.67 ERA and a 1.82 FIP in 131.2 innings of work. • Spencer Strider Takes Tough Loss Monday

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Spencer Strider fell to 10-5 despite pitching pretty well in Monday's 3-2 loss to the Giants. Strider pitched 5 innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on nine hits and a walk with nine strikeouts. The 23-year-old has thrived since joining the starting rotation and has compiled a 2.72 ERA and 13.75 K/9 rate over 125 2/3 IP this season. His next projected matchup may be against a hot Phillies lineup, but fantasy managers should feel comfortable trusting Strider with his huge ceiling.

  • Spencer Strider Strikes Out 16 Thursday

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Spencer Strider had a historic game on Thursday, going eight innings, allowing two hits with no runs. He also struck out a franchise record 16 batters. The hurler has racked up the punchouts this season, fanning 174 over 114.2 innings. Strider's been good all around, as he owns a 2.67 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and 9-4 record across 28 games (17 starts). Strider has become what looks to be one of the top contributors in fantasy baseball during his rookie season and is a must-start given his dominance in four categories.

  • Spencer Strider Rebounds In Monday's Win

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Spencer Strider looked much better in Monday's 13-1 win over the Mets after a short outing in his last matchup against them. Strider pitched 5 innings, allowing one run on three hits and a walk with four strikeouts on 87 pitches. The 23-year-old has been stellar this season and now owns a 7-4 record with a 3.04 ERA and a 13.50 K/9 rate over 25 appearances, 14 of which have been starts. He will get another tough matchup against the Astros in his next start, but his strikeout upside is too high to consider sitting him.

  • Spencer Strider Gives Up Four Runs Against Mets On Sunday

Atlanta Braves right-hander Spencer Strider struggled in his most recent start on Sunday. The 23-year-old struck out five batters in 2.2 innings of work against the New York Mets but also surrendered six hits, four earned runs and a pair of walks in the process. Strider generated 12 swinging strikes against the Mets, six each with his four-seam fastball and slider. It was a rare poor outing for the right-hander who has provided both Atlanta and fantasy managers with plenty of strong production this season. In 89.2 innings, the starter has pitched to a 3.11 ERA and a 1.97 FIP while striking out 138 batters and giving up just 34 walks.

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Spencer Strider continued to mow hitters down in Tuesday's 13-1 win over the Phillies. Strider pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowing one run on three hits and a walk with 13 strikeouts. The 23-year-old has been a strikeout machine since joining the starting rotation and now is 6-3 with a 2.79 ERA and 133 strikeouts through 87 IP. Strider's next scheduled start will likely be a tough one at the Mets, but he has earned the right to be started by fantasy managers in tough matchups.
