Texas Rangers outfielder Evan Carter is not in the starting lineup for Monday's series opener versus the Los Angeles Angels and left-hander Patrick Sandoval. The rookie slugged a sixth-inning two-run homer in Sunday's crucial 9-8 win over the rival Seattle Mariners but will give way to veteran Robbie Grossman in left field on Monday. Carter has been as advertised, and then some, since making his big-league debut on Sept. 8 as he's hitting .318 with four home runs, three stolen bases, 13 runs, 10 RBI, and a 1.131 OPS across his first 54 MLB plate appearances. His .400 BABIP suggests regression is inevitable at some point but he has been a key bat for the Rangers, slugging three homers and a pair of doubles over his last four games as the Rangers scratch and claw for a Wild Card berth down the stretch.

Big Hype Prospects: Holliday, Caminero, Carter, Lawlar, Miller

A hearty welcome to Pete Crow-Armstrong. We discussed his case for promotion last week. Though he had seven hits in 10 plate appearances over the weekend, this promotion is all about his glove. Anything he adds with his bat is gravy. We'll cover more recent and potential call-ups in today's edition of Big Hype Prospects.…

Texas Rangers outfielder Evan Carter is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Oakland Athletics. The 21-year-old top prospect made his MLB debut during Friday's game. Carter went 1-for-3 with a stolen base during his first big league contest. The assumption is that he'll play regularly, so it's a bit odd to see him out of the lineup for this game. He should be able to produce enough to warrant rostering in deeper mixed leagues. The Rangers will deploy Robbie Grossman, Ezequiel Duran, and Leody Taveras in the outfield on Saturday.

Rangers Promote Evan Carter, Place Adolis García On IL

September 8: Texas officially announced Carter’s promotion and García’s IL placement. The 40-man move is the transfer of Brad Miller from the 10-day to the 60-day IL. Miller has been out since August 2 with a left hamstring strain. He’ll be out for 60 days from the time of that initial placement, meaning he’ll miss the…
Sep 8 · MLB Trade Rumors Prospects Rangers Evan Carter Adolis GarciaRangers Calling Up Evan Carter For Friday Debut

The Texas Rangers are calling up outfielder Evan Carter, the team's No. 1 prospect, from Triple-A Round Rock ahead of Friday's series opener versus the Oakland Athletics. Texas could use some outfield reinforcements with Adolis Garcia (knee) hitting the injured list. Carter is slashing a strong .288/.413/.450 with 13 home runs, 67 RBI, 79 runs scored, and 26 stolen bases across 420 minor-league at-bats this year. The 21-year-old has mostly occupied center field in the minors and could be pushed into a significant role upon promotion. Carter is an intriguing source of batting average, steals, and runs depending on lineup placement, so he's worth a pickup for fantasy managers needing help in those areas.

Rangers Have Considered Promotion For Top Prospect Evan Carter

With the team’s left-handed-hitting outfielders struggling recently, the Rangers have considered a big league promotion for top outfield prospect Evan Carter, reports Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News. General manager Chris Young effectively confirmed as much earlier in the week, telling Grant that the team has “not ruled anything out” as it seeks to…
Sep 7 · MLB Trade Rumors Prospects Rangers Evan CarterRangers Considering Calling Up Evan Carter

The Texas Rangers are considering calling up outfield prospect Evan Carter, their top prospect per MLB Pipeline, from Triple-A Round Rock. Carter's promotion was under consideration before All-Star outfielder Adolis Garcia (knee) was removed from Wednesday's contest with a right-knee injury, so Carter's odds of joining the big-league club have only increased. The struggling Rangers are looking for a jolt for their offense down the stretch after already losing the lead in the American League West. The 21-year-old Carter hit .284/.411/.451 with 12 home runs, 62 RBI, 22 stolen bases and 68 runs scored in 97 games for Double-A Frisco before being promoted to Round Rock, where he's gone 12-for-34 (.353) in just eight games. If Carter is promoted, he figures to see regular playing time for the Rangers to close out the year.

Evan Carter Set For Triple-A Promotion

Texas Rangers outfield prospect Evan Carter is expected to be promoted to Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday, which also happens to be his 21st birthday. MLB Pipeline's No. 8 prospect, Carter hit .284 with 12 home runs, 22 stolen bases, and an .862 OPS across 97 games with Double-A Frisco after beginning the season in the Arizona Complex League due to a pre-season back injury. Taken with the 50th overall pick in the second round of the 2020 MLB draft, Carter has done plenty of damage throughout his brief minor-league career, hitting .282 with 27 home runs, 63 stolen bases, and an .871 OPS across 238 games since turning pro in the 2021 campaign.

Evan Carter Slugs 10th Home Run

Texas Rangers outfielder prospect Evan Carter smacked his 10th home run of the season on Tuesday. The 20-year-old is now slashing .299/.411/.472 with 12 stolen bases through 65 games. Carter's upside is apparent, boasting a 60-grade hit tool and 60-grade running ability while still developing his 50-grade power. He posted a .886 OPS during the 2022 campaign, including 43 extra-base hits and 28 stolen bases over 106 games. Carter is considered the Rangers' top prospect and the sixth-ranked prospect in baseball, per MLB Pipeline. Though a 2023 MLB debut remains unlikely, Carter should already be rostered in dynasty leagues.
