  • Triston Casas Likely Done For The Year

    Headshot for Triston Casas

Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas (shoulder) is unlikely to play again in 2023. He is still being checked by doctors, but regardless of the specifics regarding his right-shoulder injury, the Red Sox see no need to rush him back in a lost season. Although it was a disappointing year overall for the BoSox with another finish outside of the playoffs, it was a strong first full major-league season for Casas. The 23-year-old young left-handed hitter served as Boston's regular starting first baseman and finished with a .263/.367/.490 slash line, an .856 OPS, 24 home runs, 21 doubles, two triples, 65 RBI and 66 runs scored in 502 plate appearances over 132 games played. In 13 starts in September before being shut down, he went 13-for-49 (.265) with three homers, two doubles, 12 RBI and eight runs scored.

  • Triston Casas Hits The Injured List Saturday

    Headshot for Triston Casas

Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas (shoulder) has been placed on the 10-day injured list on Saturday, according to MLB.com. Bobby Dalbec was recalled in a corresponding move. The Rookie of the Year candidate missed Friday's contest and was scratched from Saturday's lineup with right shoulder soreness. Hours later, the club decided Casas would require an IL stint. The 23-year-old has been an important piece of the Red Sox offense, slashing .263/.367/490 with 24 bombs, 66 runs, and 65 RBI over 132 contests. Casas' timetable should be more clear in the coming days, but fantasy managers can expect to be without him for the rest of 2023.

Masataka Yoshida is the designated hitter, Adam Duvall will start in left field and rookie Wilyer Abreu enters the lineup in center field. The 23-year-old Casas is considered day-to-day and should return to the lineup soon, possibly on Sunday for the series finale. In his first full big-league campaign, Casas has provided plenty of power for fantasy managers with 24 long balls and 65 RBI in his 429 at-bats for the BoSox as their regular first baseman.

  • Triston Casas Out Again Versus Yankees

    Headshot for Triston Casas

Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas (tooth) is out of the lineup for the second straight day on Sunday as the team takes on the division-rival New York Yankees. Casas was scratched from Saturday's lineup in the Bronx due to a tooth infection, but it's unlikely that he'll be out much longer. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Monday to see if he's back in the lineup for the start of a series against the Houston Astros. Justin Turner is starting at the cold corner again and is hitting third, while Masataka Yoshida serves as the designated hitter and bats cleanup against Yankees right-hander Clarke Schmidt. As Boston's regular first baseman in his first full year in the big leagues in 2023, Casas has produced 20 home runs and 48 RBI in 109 games while batting .253 (88-for-348).

Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas (tooth) was held out of Saturday's starting lineup versus the New York Yankees. The 23-year-old was scratched from the starting lineup due to a tooth infection. Manager Alex Cora mentioned Casas had to go to a local hospital to have the tooth drained. That being said, it sounds like Casas won't be suiting up for Sunday's contest either. That being said, the organization is hopeful that Casas is back in the lineup on Monday. Fantasy managers should consider Casas as day-to-day right now.

With Casas' mouth hurting, Justin Turner will take over at first base and will bat third in the order against Yankees right-hander Gerrit Cole. Adam Duvall is serving as the designated hitter and is batting fifth. We don't expect the 23-year-old Casas to be out long, and fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. In his first full season in the big leagues, Casas is slashing .253/.353/.483 with an .836 OPS, 20 home runs, 16 doubles, two triples, 48 RBI and 54 runs scored in 109 games played. The 23-year-old has been nearly unstoppable at the plate since the All-Star break. He's slashing .337/.427/.726 with 11 homers and 21 RBI across 30 games since the break. Headshot for Triston Casas

Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas went 2-for-3 with two home runs, three RBI and a walk in Saturday's 8-6 win over the New York Mets. The 23-year-old took Max Scherzer deep twice in this one, leading off the second inning with a homer before crushing another long ball in the sixth frame. It was Casas' first multi-HR game of his career. The former first-round pick is on a heater right now, hitting safely in nine of his last 10 outings while batting .433 with five big flies and eight RBI in 30 at-bats during this period. Casas is also slashing an impressive .319/.413/.622 with eight blasts and 19 RBI in 119 ABs over his prior 37 contests. Fantasy managers who need help in the power department should consider adding the 2022 No. 2 Boston prospect while he's still available in about three-quarters of Yahoo leagues.
