  • Triston Casas Stays Hot

    Headshot for Triston Casas

Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas stayed hot with a 2-for-4 performance in Tuesday's contest versus the Cleveland Indians. He also drew a walk and homered for the fifth time this season. Casas was a popular name heading into draft day this season and he has backed that up by hitting .258 with five homers and nine RBI. It seems like Casas has been around forever, but he is just 24 years of age and amid a breakout season. Casas should be rostered in all formats as he looks to continue his success on Wednesday versus Ben Lively in Game 3 of a four-game series with the Guardians.

  • Triston Casas Goes Yard In Tuesday's Win

    Headshot for Triston Casas

Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas went 1-for-2 with a solo home run and two walks during Sunday's 5-4 win over the Los Angeles Angels. The 24-year-old has now hit homers in back-to-back games for the first time this season. Casas started the year slowly but has come alive as of late. He is now slashing .259/.358/.500 with four home runs, eight RBI and 10 runs scored. Casas was a trendy breakout candidate heading into 2024 and is starting to deliver on the hype. He can be started with confidence while he enjoys this hot streak.

  • Triston Casas Hits First Home Run Of 2024

    Headshot for Triston Casas

Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas hit his first home run of the season on Friday in an 8-6 win over the Angels. It came right after a Tyler O'Neill home run in the second inning, part of a three-homer inning for the Sox. Casas finished the game 2-for-4 with an RBI, one run scored, and a walk. The 24-year-old is batting .233 (7-for-30) with three RBI, four runs scored, and a 5:9 BB:K over eight games thus far. The powerful lefty hit .263 last season and belted 24 home runs with a 13.1% Barrel%, so expect more to come on the power front.

  • Triston Casas Smacks First Homer This Spring

    Headshot for Triston Casas

Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas launched his first home run of the spring during Wednesday's 9-4 Grapefruit League win over the division-rival New York Yankees, going 2-for-3 with a solo homer in the fourth inning. After missing some time with an illness to begin spring training, Casas is now batting 3-for-23 (.130) overall. The 24-year-old left-handed slugger and former first-round pick is set to operate as Boston's everyday first baseman following Justin Turner's offseason departure to the Toronto Blue Jays, and he's being drafted as a top-10 fantasy option at the cold corner after rolling to 2023's finish line with a .319/.417/.622 triple-slash line, 15 blasts, and 38 RBI over his closing 50 games. His placement in the BoSox' lineup may not be ideal to start the campaign, but some improved hitting could help Casas work his way up the order.

  • Triston Casas Feeling Better Saturday

    Headshot for Triston Casas

Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas (illness) is back in the team's Grapefruit League lineup on Saturday against the Washington Nationals, playing first base and batting cleanup. Casas is now over his bout with the flu and will return to spring training action this weekend as he prepares for Opening Day in late March. The 24-year-old will be Boston's starting first baseman, and the 26-year-old left-handed slugger will have high expectations after breaking out to the tune of a .263/.367/.490 slash line with an .856 OPS, 24 home runs, 21 doubles, two triples, 65 RBI and 66 runs scored in 132 games in 2023 in his first full big-league season. If he stays healthy, Casas should improve as long as he keeps hitting the ball as hard as he did in 2023. RotoBaller has him ranked as the No. 10 fantasy first baseman.

  • Triston Casas Close To Playing In First Game This Spring

    Headshot for Triston Casas

Boston Red Sox first baseman Triston Casas (illness) has been away from JetBlue Park for a few days as he recovers from the flu. He has still been managing to swing a bat, per manager Alex Cora, and he should be healthy enough to play in a game within the next few days. The 24-year-old looked great in his first full season last year, slashing .263/.367/.490 with 24 homers, 65 RBI, 70 walks, and 126 strikeouts over 132 games. He was the AL Rookie of the Month in July and should remain an everyday contributor this coming season. He has shown solid defensive skills at first base but needs to produce better splits against lefties before the Red Sox can trust him to start on a daily basis.

2023 was a difficult season for the Red Sox as the club suffered a second consecutive fifth-place finish in the AL East with an identical 78-84 record to their disappointing 2022 campaign.
