Bobby Witt Jr. Taking A Day Off
Kansas City Royals rookie shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. is not in the starting lineup on Thursday against the Chicago White Sox. The 22-year-old is hitting .254/.299/.443 with 15 long balls, 57 RBI, 55 runs scored and 21 stolen bases in 393 at-bats in his first big-league season. Nicky Lopez is manning the 6 on Thursday and will hit eighth against White Sox right-hander Dylan Cease. Believe it or not, Lopez is still searching for his first home run of the season. Bobby Witt Jr. Sitting Out Against Red Sox
Kansas City Royals rookie shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. is not in the starting lineup on Friday against the Boston Red Sox. It appears to be a normal day of rest for the 22-year-old youngster, who is slashing .257/.300/.456 with 15 home runs, 53 RBI, 54 runs scored and 21 stolen bases in his first 373 major league at-bats. He should be back in there on Saturday. In his absence, Nicky Lopez will handle shortstop duties and will hit ninth in the lineup against Red Sox right-hander Josh Winckowski on Friday. Lopez is a DFS option that should be avoided. The 27-year-old is still searching for his first round-tripper of the season and is hitting .249/.308/.297 with 13 RBI and 10 stolen bases in 313 at-bats for the Royals.

Bobby Witt Jr. Back In Action Tuesday
Kansas City Royals rookie shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. (hand) is back at shortstop and is hitting second on Tuesday against the Chicago White Sox and right-hander Lucas Giolito. Witt sat out on Monday with a minor hand injury, but his fantasy managers will be able to get him back into their lineups on Tuesday. The 22-year-old has played in only five games since the All-Star break because of nagging injuries, and he's gone 5-for-19 (.263) with a homer, four RBI, three runs scored and three stolen bases in that time. Overall, the first-year MLB player is slashing .255/.299/.452 with 14 home runs, 51 RBI, 51 runs scored and 20 stolen bases. Get the youngster back in your lineups in single-year formats.

Bobby Witt Jr. To Sit Out On Monday
Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. (hamstring, hand) was hit by a pitch in the hand and forced to exit early during Sunday's game. Now, the Royals are going to play it safe and keep Witt out of the lineup for Monday's contest. He has been dealing with a hamstring issue as well, so the Royals don't want to risk it. This doesn't sound like the type of injury that is going to force Witt to the injured list. Fantasy managers should expect Witt back in the lineup within the next day or two.

Bobby Witt Jr. Returns Against Yankees
Kansas City Royals rookie shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. (hamstring) is back in the starting lineup on Saturday against New York Yankees left-hander Nestor Cortes, serving as the designated hitter and batting second in the lineup. Fantasy managers were beginning to wonder if Witt would require a trip to the injured list after he missed the last five games with a hamstring injury, but he'll return on Saturday after ramping up baseball activities on Friday. The 22-year-old's five-category upside makes him an everyday starter in single-year fantasy leagues. In his first big-league season, he's hitting .258/.301/.459 with 14 long balls, 51 RBI, 51 runs scored and 20 stolen bases in 353 at-bats.

Bobby Witt Jr. Remains Out Friday
Kansas City Royals rookie shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. (hamstring) is still out of the starting lineup on Friday against the New York Yankees. Witt will miss his fifth straight game with a hamstring injury, but he's expected to avoid a trip to the injured list. If the 22-year-old can't return at some point this weekend, that could change quickly. It remains to be seen if he'll be available off the bench on Friday. Shortstop prospect Maikel Garcia was called up from the minors this week and started in his first MLB game on Thursday, going 0-for-4 with a strikeout. Garcia has struck out twice in his first five plate appearances. With Witt out again, he's starting at the 6 and hitting eighth against Yankees right-hander Gerrit Cole on Friday.

Bobby Witt Jr. Still Out Against Yankees
Kansas City Royals rookie shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. (hamstring) remains out of the starting lineup on Thursday against the New York Yankees. Witt will miss his fourth straight game, but he did some running on Wednesday and has a good chance of avoiding a stay on the injured list. The Royals recalled infielder Maikel Garcia from Double-A Northwest Arkansas, and he will make his first MLB start at shortstop while hitting eighth against Yankees right-hander Jameson Taillon on Thursday. Garcia made his big-league debut on July 15 against the Toronto Blue Jays and struck out in his only plate appearance. The team's No. 19 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, was hitting .291/.369/.409 with four home runs, 33 RBI, 63 runs scored and 27 stolen bases in 78 games for Northwest Arkansas before his call-up.

Bobby Witt Jr. Remains Out Wednesday
Kansas City Royals rookie shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. (hamstring) remains out of the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Angels. Witt will miss his third straight game after injuring his hamstring on Sunday. For now, fantasy managers should continue to consider him day-to-day, but hopefully he'll be back at some point this weekend. Nicky Lopez is back at shortstop on Wednesday and is hitting ninth against Angels right-hander Janson Junk. Lopez is hitting .343 (12-for-35) in 10 games over the last two weeks, but he's still searching for his first home run of the year and remains a low-upside DFS play in the nine-hole.

Bobby Witt Jr. Remains Out On Tuesday
Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. (hamstring) will miss his second consecutive game on Tuesday as the team takes on left-hander Jose Suarez and the Los Angeles Angels. Nicky Lopez will be handling shortstop duties once again for the game. Witt exited this past Sunday's contest with hamstring tightness. The injury flared up while he was stealing second base in the game. All indications are that the injury is minor and he remains day-to-day at this point. The 22-year-old rookie has slashed .258/.301/.459 with 14 home runs, 20 stolen bases, 51 RBI and 51 runs across 91 games on the year.

Bobby Witt Jr. Sitting Monday
Kansas City Royals rookie shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. (hamstring) is not in the starting lineup on Monday against the Los Angeles Angels. Witt left the game early on Sunday and will miss the series opener on Monday against the Angels as a result. Fantasy managers should consider the 22-year-old to be day-to-day for now. Nicky Lopez will play shortstop on Monday and hit ninth against Angels right-hander Noah Syndergaard. Lopez is hitting .252/.302/.304 on the season with seven stolen bases in 89 games, but he has just five home runs in his four major league seasons and still hasn't cleared the fences in 2022. He's a low-upside DFS option.

Bobby Witt Jr. Pulled Due To Hamstring Tightness
Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. (hamstring) was forced to exit early during Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. The 22-year-old was removed in the second inning due to hamstring tightness. This injury likely occurred in the first inning when Witt was running the bases. At the moment, fantasy managers can consider Witt day-to-day, but that might not last long. The organization will have Witt undergo further evaluation and reveal a better timetable after that.

Bobby Witt Jr. Exits In The Second Inning On Sunday
Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. was removed in the second inning of Sunday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays. In his first and only at-bat of the game, which came in the first inning, he hit a single. After the single, he wound up stealing second base and tagging up to third base. He may have suffered an injury at some point while running the bases, but the team has yet to provide a reason for his removal. Nicky Lopez took over at shortstop to begin the second inning. We should have an update on Witt's status soon, so make sure to stay tuned.

Bobby Witt Jr. Returning On Friday
Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. (hand) is back in the starting lineup for Friday's game against the Cleveland Guardians. The young infielder missed each of the last two games due to a hand contusion. However, Witt feels better and will play shortstop and bat third versus right-hander Aaron Civale on Friday. The 23-year-old is hitting .236/.286/.444 with 12 home runs and 42 RBI this season. Fantasy managers should make sure he is back in their lineups for Friday's contest.

Bobby Witt Jr. Remains Out Thursday
Kansas City Royals rookie shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. (hand) remains out of the starting lineup against the Houston Astros on Thursday. Witt was hit on the right hand by a pitch on Tuesday and hasn't played since, but X-rays came back negative, so he's considered day-to-day for now. The 22-year-old is one of the most exciting young players in the game, and he's slashing .236/.286/.444 with 12 home runs, 42 RBI, 43 runs scored and 12 stolen bases in his first 297 major league at-bats. Nicky Lopez will man the 6 again with Witt out on Thursday, and he's hitting eighth against Astros right-hander Justin Verlander. Lopez is still searching for his first home run and has gone 54-for-236 (.229) with eight RBI and five stolen bases. He should be avoided in DFS against Verlander.

X-Rays Negative On Bobby Witt Jr.'s Hand Tuesday
Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. (hand) exited Tuesday's game against the Astros in the ninth inning after getting hit in the hand by a pitch. However, X-rays were negative for fractures, per MLB.com's Anne Rogers. The 22-year-old had gone 2-for-5 with a single, a two-run home run, three RBI, and a strikeout prior to exiting the game. The negative X-rays are a positive sign for fantasy managers, but additional testing may be needed due to Witt Jr.'s hand swelling. He should be considered day-to-day and fantasy managers should keep on the look for further news in the coming days.

Bobby Witt Jr. Sitting Out Saturday
Kansas City Royals rookie shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. is not in the starting lineup on Saturday against the Baltimore Orioles. Witt will get his first breather of the month. The 21-year-old prospect got off to a cold start in his first taste of major league pitching and is slashing .233/.282/.438 overall with seven home runs, 29 RBI, 32 runs scored and 10 stolen bases in 55 games. He's gone 7-for-25 (.280) with two RBI and three stolen bases in seven games over the last week, and Witt remains an everyday fantasy play because of his power/speed upside. Nicky Lopez is starting at shortstop and is hitting ninth on Saturday against Orioles right-hander Tyler Wells. Lopez is still searching for his first home run of the season and has a .212 average in 179 at-bats, so he's a low-upside DFS target.

Bobby Witt Jr. Stays Hot Saturday
Kansas City Royals shortstop Bobby Witt Jr. doubled thrice on Saturday, going 3-for-5 with two RBI and 2 runs scored. The stud rookie has been on a tear at the dish, going 10-for-23 with seven extra-base hits in his last five games. Witt Jr. got off to a disappointing start in April with a .558 OPS, but in May he is the owner of an impressive .852 OPS. This is more of what fantasy managers expected when they drafted him as a top 100 pick, and now that Witt Jr. has figured out major league pitching, expect that value to keep looking better.

Bobby Witt Jr. Not Playing Against Twins
Kansas City Royals rookie third baseman Bobby Witt Jr. is not in the starting lineup on Sunday against the Minnesota Twins. It's only the second day off of the season for the young infielder. The 21-year-old had extremely high expectations heading into his first MLB season after tearing the cover off the ball in spring training, and although he does have four home runs and six stolen bases, he's hitting only .215/.260/.389 with 16 RBI and 18 runs scored through his first 38 big-league games. Fantasy managers must have patience with the youngster. Emmanuel Rivera is getting the start at the hot corner and is batting fifth on Sunday against Twins right-hander Bailey Ober. Rivera is 12-for-47 with three homers and nine RBI in 18 games for KC.

Bobby Witt Jr. Scores A Pair Of Runs Thursday
Kansas City Royals third baseman Bobby Witt Jr. crossed home plate twice in Thursday's game, but it wasn't enough to beat the Chicago White Sox, who won the game 7-4. Overall, he went 1-for-4 with a double and a strikeout. The young infielder hasn't shown what made him a top prospect coming into the season, as he's hitting just .225 with four home runs, 15 RBI, and 18 runs. The only thing making Witt Jr. rosterable is his five stolen bases. However, if he continues to struggle, fantasy managers in shallower leagues can find other sources of speed who contribute more offensively.
