  • Cards Won't Do Dylan Carlson, Top Prospects For Juan Soto

According to a report from MLB Network's Jon Morosi, the St. Louis Cardinals are not willing to include both Dylan Carlson and their top prospects in a package for Washington Nationals outfielder Juan Soto. Soto has been a hot name with the MLB trade deadline coming up on Tuesday, August 2, but it appears that the Cardinals might not be willing to put together the type of package that it will take to acquire Soto. Negotiations for Soto are "reaching a critical point" according to Morosi.

  • Dylan Carlson Homers In Tuesday's Loss

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Dylan Carlson went 2-for-5 with a solo home run and two RBI in Tuesday's 10-3 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. He took Jose Berrios deep for a solo shot in the first inning to put the Cardinals on the scoreboard. The 23-year-old drove in another run with an RBI single in the third inning. He is starting to heat up, racking up five extra-base hits with four RBI in his last seven games. Overall, Carlson is slashing .259/.328/.421 with six home runs, 28 RBI, 36 runs, and four stolen bases over 79 games. Fantasy managers should continue to start Carlson in all league formats while he's swinging a hot bat.

  • Dylan Carlson Scratched On Sunday

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Dylan Carlson was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Phillies with "minor tightness," according to beat writer Katie Woo. No further specifics were given on where Carlson is feeling the tightness but it sounds like he was removed as a precaution more than anything. The team should provide an update on the 23-year-old outfielder at the conclusion of Sunday's game. Lars Nootbaar is starting in center field and batting seventh in his place.

  • Dylan Carlson Won't Play In Game 1

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Dylan Carlson will sit out of the starting lineup for Game 1 of a doubleheader against the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday. Carlson just returned from the injured list last Friday, and the Cardinals are easing him back into action. The 23-year-old is off to a good start since returning from the IL, though, and his slash line is up to .255/.300/.389 after an ice-cold start to the season. He has gone deep three times, driven in 14, scored 17 runs and stolen a base in 170 plate appearances and 43 games so far this year. Rookie Brendan Donovan gets the start in right field on Tuesday and will hit leadoff against Pirates right-hander JT Brubaker, making him a nice low-cost DFS option.

  • Cardinals Activate Dylan Carlson Friday

The St. Louis Cardinals activated outfielder Dylan Carlson (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list on Friday and optioned outfielder Lars Nootbaar to Triple-A Memphis in a corresponding move. Carlson went 5-for-13 with a home run, four RBI and four runs scored in four minor league rehab games with Double-A Springfield and Memphis, and he should return to an everyday role in St. Louis' outfield now that he's back. The 23-year-old got off to a terrible start for the Cardinals this year and was demoted from the leadoff spot quickly, but he was much better in May, hitting .314/.351/.486 with an .837 OPS, two home runs and seven RBI in 20 games. Grab him immediately if he was dropped by his previous owner and remains available in your league.

  • Dylan Carlson Could Return Friday

St. Louis Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said the team has been happy with outfielder Dylan Carlson's (hamstring) progress. He is receiving the day off on Thursday, and if his left hamstring passes all of the tests, he'll rejoin the team in St. Louis on Friday. Carlson has gone 5-for-13 (.385) with a home run and four RBI in five minor league rehab games with Double-A Springfield and Triple-A Memphis and looks ready to come off the injured list this weekend. The 23-year-old got off to an ice-cold start at the plate and was removed from the leadoff spot, but he was looking better at the plate before his injury, and he's hitting .247/.291/.363 with two homers, 11 RBI, 15 runs scored and one stolen base in 39 games. Carlson will return to an everyday role in St. Louis.

  • Tyler O'Neill, Dylan Carlson Could Return Next Weekend

St. Louis Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol doubts that outfielders Tyler O'Neill (shoulder) and Dylan Carlson (hamstring) will be ready to come off the injured list in time to join the team for their series against the Tampa Bay Rays from next Tuesday through Thursday. Both players served as the designated hitter on Friday during their minor league rehab games, and they will progress to playing the outfield this weekend. O'Neill went 3-for-5 with a double, while Carlson went 0-for-3 with a strikeout on Friday. Both O'Neill and Carlson have struggled at the plate for the Cardinals this year before their injuries, but they should both return to starting roles when they are healthy and should remain stashed in the vast majority of fantasy leagues.

  • Dylan Carlson Expected To Begin Rehab Assignment Friday

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Dylan Carlson (hamstring) is expected to begin a minor league rehab assignment on Friday night with Double-A Springfield. Carlson has been on the injured list since suffering a hamstring tear in late May, but he's inching closer towards a return to the Cardinals. Hopefully the time off allowed him reset mentally, as he was having a disappointing season before the injury with a slash line of .247/.291/.363 with only two home runs, 11 RBI, 15 runs scored and one stolen base in 146 at-bats. The 23-year-old was dropped from the leadoff spot as a result, but he should return to a starting role in St. Louis' outfield when he's activated from the injured list, possibly as soon as next week.

  • Dylan Carlson Could Miss Two Weeks

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Dylan Carlson (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Monday after he was diagnosed with a grade 1/2 hamstring strain. The team is reportedly hopeful that Carlson will be able to return to action in two weeks, according to team manager Oliver Marmol. Carlson is struggling through his 2022 campaign, hitting just .247 with two homers, 15 runs, 11 RBI, and a steal across 158 at-bats.

  • Dylan Carlson Diagnosed With Hamstring Tear

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Dylan Carlson's (hamstring) MRI exam showed a Grade 1/2 left hamstring strain, which is a tear. There is no current timetable for his return after the Cardinals placed him on the injured list on Monday. The 23-year-old was ice-cold to begin the season, but he was slashing .314/.351/.486 in his first 20 games of May, so the injury comes at a bad time for his fantasy managers. Corey Dickerson, Harrison Bader and Brendan Donovan are the team's starting outfielders on Monday against Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Jose Berrios. Juan Yepez should also see increased playing time for St. Louis with both Carlson and Tyler O'Neill (shoulder) sidelined.

  • Dylan Carlson, Steven Matz Land On Injured List

The St. Louis Cardinals placed outfielder Dylan Carlson (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain and starting pitcher Steven Matz (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list on Monday with a left shoulder impingement. Left-hander Matthew Liberatore, right-hander Junior Fernandez and outfielder Lars Nootbaar have been recalled from Triple-A Memphis, while reliever Angel Rondon was optioned to Memphis. With Carlson out, Nootbaar, Corey Dickerson, Juan Yepez and Brendan Donovan will fight for more playing time in a corner outfield spot. It's terrible timing for Carlson, as the 23-year-old was hitting over .300 in May after a slow start to his season. Liberatore will rejoin the starting rotation with Matz out after making his MLB debut over the weekend.

  • Dylan Carlson Exits Early With Hamstring Tightness

St. Louis Cardinals outfielder Dylan Carlson (hamstring) exited Saturday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates with hamstring tightness. He left the contest early after a flyball out in the top of the third inning. The 23-year-old went 1-for-2 before leaving. The severity of Carlson's injury is unknown, and he is day-to-day. Nolan Gorman replaced him in the game while Tommy Edman shifted from second base to centerfield. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the situation as more information will be announced after the game. Stay tuned.
