  • Chas McCormick Out Of The Lineup On Wednesday

    Headshot for Mauricio Dubon

Houston Astros outfielder Chas McCormick (back) is out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Seattle Mariners. This doesn't come as a shock after McCormick was lifted early during Tuesday's game after getting hit by a pitch in the back. This sounds like a day-to-day issue, so hopefully McCormick can avoid a trip to the injured list. In the meantime, Mauricio Dubon will cover center field and bat seventh versus right-hander Bryce Miller during Wednesday's game.

  • Chas McCormick Injured Tuesday

    Headshot for Chas McCormick

Houston Astros outfielder Chas McCormick (back) was removed from Tuesday night's loss to the division-rival Seattle Mariners early after being hit by a pitch in the back in the ninth inning. McCormick had to be helped off the field by a trainer and manager Dusty Baker, so there's a good chance we won't see him in the starting lineup in another crucial game on Wednesday. But the Astros have an upcoming off day on Thursday before finishing the 2023 regular season with a three-game series in Arizona against the Diamondbacks. For now, consider the 28-year-old to be day-to-day until we know more. The Astros can ill-afford to lose McCormick as they push for the playoffs as either the American League West champions or in a wild-card spot. In the 6-2 loss, McCormick went 1-for-3.

  • Chas McCormick Heads To The Bench

    Headshot for Chas McCormick

Houston Astros outfielder Chas McCormick is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Texas Rangers. This is odd timing considering McCormick has been red-hot at the plate recently. The 28-year-old currently holds a seven-game hitting streak where he's gone 11-for-21 at the plate during that time. The assumption is that he'll return to the lineup after this rest day. In his absence, Mauricio Dubon will cover center field and bat eighth versus right-hander Max Scherzer on Wednesday.

  • Chas McCormick On The Bench Friday

    Headshot for Chas McCormick

Houston Astros outfielder Chas McCormick is out of Friday's starting lineup against the New York Yankees. Fantasy managers don't need to worry as this appears to be a routine rest day for McCormick. He'll head to the bench after going 2-for-9 with two RBI during their last series. Jake Meyers will cover center field and bat eighth versus left-hander Carlos Rodon on Friday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups with McCormick on the bench for this game.

  • The Astros' Potential Outfield Surplus

    Headshot for Yordan Alvarez

Entering the season, the outfield was an area of some uncertainty on an excellent Houston roster. Kyle Tucker is an established star in right field. The other two positions were more questionable. Before Opening Day, Houston brass has suggested they planned to divide left field and designated hitter reps between Yordan Alvarez and Michael Brantley. As it has…

  • Chas McCormick Collects Two Hits And A Stolen Base in Astros Loss

    Headshot for Chas McCormick

Houston Astros outfielder Chas McCormick was 2-for-4 and stole a base despite a 2-1 loss to the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday. During the eighth inning, McCormick hit a one-out single. Once on board, the 28-year-old stole second base, but the Astros left him stranded. McCormick is having a sound season in Houston, as he has crushed 15 home runs and recorded 47 RBI while stealing 13 bases. He's also produced a slash line of .280/.368/.517 in 261 at-bats in 2023.

  • Chas McCormick Returns To The Lineup

    Headshot for Chas McCormick

Houston Astros outfielder Chas McCormick (knee) is returning to the starting lineup for Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. McCormick is back in the lineup following a two-game absence due to a left knee contusion. His return is good news for fantasy managers considering how well McCormick is playing this season. He's slashing .277/.368/.522 with a career-high 15 home runs and 47 RBI in 70 games. He'll patrol left field and bat sixth versus left-hander Tyler Anderson on Saturday. Fantasy managers should make sure to check their lineups and get McCormick back in there.

  • Chas McCormick Still Out Friday

    Headshot for Chas McCormick

Houston Astros outfielder Chas McCormick (knee) remains out of the team's starting lineup on Friday against the visiting Los Angeles Angels. McCormick suffered a bruised left knee while diving for a ball on Wednesday and was scratched from Thursday's lineup, so he'll miss his second straight game. The 28-year-old's injury isn't believed to be serious, so he has a good shot at returning on Saturday. Mauricio Dubon will play center field on Friday and hit sixth in the batting order against Angels left-hander Reid Detmers. McCormick is breaking out in his third big-league season in 2023, hitting .274/.366/.520 with an .885 OPS, 15 home runs, 13 doubles, two triples, 47 RBI, 12 stolen bases and 40 runs scored in 291 plate appearances over 73 games played.

  • Chas McCormick Scratched With Bruised Knee

    Headshot for Chas McCormick

Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker said that outfielder Chas McCormick (knee) was scratched from Thursday's lineup against the Baltimore Orioles due to a bruised left knee that he suffered while diving for a ball on Wednesday night. Baker said McCormick is "day-to-day." Mauricio Dubon will start in left field on Thursday and hit seventh against Orioles right-hander Dean Kremer. Hopefully McCormick will be able to return on Friday for the Astros. The 28-year-old outfielder is having his best season to date in his third big-league campaign, slashing .274/.366/.520 with an .885 OPS, 15 home runs, 13 doubles, two triples, 47 RBI, 12 stolen bases and 40 runs scored in 73 games. McCormick has been valuable in all fantasy formats this year.

  • Chas McCormick Absent From Astros Lineup

    Headshot for Chas McCormick

Houston Astros outfielder Chas McCormick is taking the day off on Tuesday with the team facing the Baltimore Orioles. Jake Meyers is in center field and is batting eighth in the order against Orioles rookie right-hander Grayson Rodriguez. Yordan Alvarez is in left field and Yainer Diaz draws into the lineup as the designated hitter. McCormick has been one of Houston's most consistent producers all year, batting .275/.368/.522 with an .891 OPS, 15 home runs, 47 RBI, 12 stolen bases and 39 runs scored in 247 at-bats. Since July 24, McCormick has gone 11-for-41 (.268) with three home runs, two doubles, a triple, 12 RBI, a steal and nine runs scored while reaching base in 12 straight games over 12 starts. He's become a must-start in fantasy leagues in 2023.

    Headshot for Chas McCormick

Houston Astros outfielder Chas McCormick went 2-for-3, smashing two home runs and collecting three RBI to help his team defeat the Guardians by a score of 3-2 on Wednesday. McCormick produced all of the offense for Houston. The two-dinger day is the third career multi-homer game for McCormick, and his second such effort in 2023. The 28-year-old is now slashing .286./375/.922 with 15 homers and 47 RBI in 234 trips to the plate. He's also seen success on the base baths, swiping 12 bags.

  • Chas McCormick Retreats To The Bench Monday

    Headshot for Chas McCormick

Houston Astros outfielder Chas McCormick is not in the starting lineup on Monday against the visiting Cleveland Guardians. Jake Meyers will get the start in center field and will bat ninth in the order against Guardians right-hander Noah Syndergaard. It's about time for McCormick to take a day off after starting in the team's last 19 games. The 28-year-old has been very hot in July, too, going 27-for-77 (.351) with six home runs, four doubles, two triples, 23 RBI, three stolen bases and 16 runs scored in 22 games played. McCormick has been a solid contributor across all categories in his third big-league season, slashing .285/.372/.526 with 13 homers, 44 RBI, 11 steals and 35 runs scored in 228 at-bats. Get him back into fantasy lineups when he returns on Tuesday.

  • Chas McCormick Singles, Walks In Defeat

    Headshot for Chas McCormick

Houston Astros center fielder Chas McCormick went 1-for-3 with a single and a walk in Friday's 4-3 defeat to the Tampa Bay Rays. The 28-year-old hit a third-inning single before drawing a ninth-inning walk to get the tying run aboard. Mauricio Dubon would get caught looking to end the game, though. McCormick is starting to cool a bit after an excellent June and scorching start to July, going just 1-for-10 after a six-RBI eruption on July 24. Still, the speedy outfielder remains on pace for a career season with the bat, slashing .279/.369/.521 with 13 home runs, 42 RBI, and 11 stolen bases covering 219 at-bats. Fantasy managers can ride McCormick while he's running hot, but his upside might be limited while hitting in the lower-third of the Astros order.

  • Chas McCormick Homers Twice In Win

    Headshot for Chas McCormick

Houston Astros outfielder Chas McCormick brought the thunder with the bat in Sunday night's 9-8 win over the Los Angeles Angels, going 3-for-4 with two home runs, three RBI, two runs scored and a strikeout. It was quite the start for McCormick to kick off the second half of the season, as he had three home runs, five RBI and six runs scored in three games against the Angels over the weekend. The furious output brought his season slash line to a strong .280/.365/.522 with an .886 OPS, 11 home runs, 10 doubles, a triple, 32 RBI, nine stolen bases and 28 runs scored in 54 games and 212 plate appearances. McCormick is really heating up in July, going 14-for-35 (.400) with four homers, two doubles, a triple, 11 RBI, one steal and nine runs scored in just 10 games played.
