  • Tyler Stephenson To Undergo Collarbone Surgery

Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson is undergoing surgery to repair his fractured collarbone, manager David Bell announced this afternoon (via C. Trent Rosecrans of the Athletic). Bell indicated the surgery isn’t expected to affect Stephenson’s timetable, although the club nevertheless transferred him from the 10-day to the 60-day injured list to clear a roster spot for the…

  • Tyler Stephenson Officially Placed On Injured List

The Cincinnati Reds officially placed catcher Tyler Stephenson (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list on Saturday and recalled catcher Mark Kolozsvary from Triple-A Louisville. Stephenson doesn't have a timetable for a return, but he will be out well beyond the 10 days after breaking his right clavicle on Friday when he was hit in the shoulder by a foul tip. Aramis Garcia (elbow, illness) is also injured so Michael Papiersky and Kolozsvary will split time behind the dish in Cincinnati for now. Stephenson is one of the best hitting catchers in baseball, but he just hasn't been able to stay healthy in 2022. In 166 at-bats, he's hitting .319/.372/.482 with an .854 OPS, six home runs, 35 RBI, 24 runs scored and a stolen base. If you have the room on your roster, keep him stashed.

  • Tyler Stephenson Breaks Clavicle Friday

Cincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson left Friday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals with a broken clavicle, according to the team's official Twitter account. Stephenson was hit by a foul tip from the bat of the third batter of the game. He appeared to be in pain and was checked on by trainers but remained in the game for two more pitches until he attempted to field a dribbler in front of the plate. When he went to throw the ball to first base, he fell to his knees in pain and left the game. Stephenson is currently without a timetable for a return to the field. The young backstop has dealt with a multitude of injuries this season, missing 10 games with a concussion and another 27 with a fractured right thumb.

  • Tyler Stephenson Leaves Game Early Thursday

Cincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson left Friday's game against the St. Louis Cardinals early after taking a foul ball off the shoulder. He was unable to make a throw to first after fielding a swinging bunt grounder and was replaced by Michael Papierski immediately after. That's not good. Stephenson has already dealt with a fractured right thumb that forced him to miss a month and could be looking at a lengthy absence once again if the injury is as serious as it looks. This is a tough one to take for Stephenson and his fantasy managers, who will struggle to replace the .319/.372/.482 slash line he has given them, especially out of the catcher position. Papierski will likely see an increase in playing time if the injury is serious, but his .384 OPS is uninspiring to say the least. When Aramis Garcia returns from the COVID-IL he should also see more at-bats, but he also holds a lowly .516 OPS.

  • Tyler Stephenson Activated From The 10-Day Injured List

Cincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson (thumb) has been activated from the 10-day injured list. The 25-year-old, who missed a month of action with a fractured right thumb, is back in the Reds' lineup on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Stephenson was slashing a rock-solid .305/.361/.468 with five home runs and 31 RBI across 141 at-bats prior to his injury so this is welcome news for his fantasy managers. Catcher Mark Kolozsvary was optioned to Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move.

  • Reds Activate Tyler Stephenson, Option Mark Kolozsvary

The Reds have activated catcher Tyler Stephenson from the injured list. In a corresponding move, Mark Kolozsvary was optioned to Triple-A, per Charlie Goldsmith of the Cincinnati Enquirer (via Twitter). Kolozsvary, 26, made just 11 plate appearances in the Majors, doubling once and striking out five times. The Reds drafted him in the seventh round of…

  • Tyler Stephenson Starting Rehab Assignment Monday

Cincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson (thumb) is starting his minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville on Monday. Stephenson suffered a broken thumb on June 9, but barring any setbacks on his rehab assignment, he should be able to return as the Reds' everyday catcher just before the All-Star break in mid-July. The 25-year-old is one of the best hitting catchers in the big leagues when healthy, so he should remain stashed in all fantasy leagues. Before breaking his thumb, he was slashing .305/.361/.468 with an .829 OPS, five home runs, 31 RBI, 21 runs scored and one stolen base in 155 plate appearances over 42 games. Michael Papierski and Aramis Garcia will continue splitting the catching duties in Cincy until Stephenson is back.

  • Tyler Stephenson Could Return In 7-10 Days

Cincinnati Reds skipper David Bell said that catcher Tyler Stephenson (thumb) could be back from the injured list within seven to 10 days. He will hit live batting practice on Friday, and the next step after that will be a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Louisville. The 25-year-old backstop needs to be stashed in all fantasy formats, as he was hitting a strong .305/.361/.468 with an .829 OPS, five home runs, 31 RBI, 21 runs scored and a stolen base in 141 at-bats before his injury. He's been on the shelf since June 9 due to a fractured right thumb, so hopefully he can pick up where he left off offensively for his fantasy managers. Aramis Garcia has done most of the catching for the Reds with Stephenson out of action.

  • Tyler Stephenson Takes Batting Practice On Wednesday

Cincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson (thumb) took batting practice on the field at Great American Ball Park on Wednesday. According to manager David Bell, he could begin a rehab assignment soon. The 25-year-old slashed .305/.361/.468 with five home runs and 31 RBI over 141 AB before landing on the injured list. His next step will be to face live pitching before beginning a rehab assignment. Before the injury, Stephenson has been one of the most consistent fantasy catchers in the game, and managers should continue to stash him in all league formats.

  • Tyler Stephenson Could Begin Rehab Assignment Soon

Cincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson (hand) could begin a rehab assignment in 7-10 days, according to manager David Bell. Stephenson has been out for two weeks with a fractured hand, and the initial timeline for his return was set at 4-6 weeks. If he does start his rehab in a week, he would be on track to return on the early side of that timeline. Stephenson has been one of the best catchers both in real life and in fantasy this year, with a .305/.361/.468 slash line to go along with five HR and 31 RBI over 141 AB. Stephenson's return cannot come quickly enough for fantasy managers, who has been one of the only reliable catchers this season.

  • Tyler Stephenson Expected To Miss 4-6 Weeks With Fractured Thumb

Cincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson (hand) fractured his thumb during Thursday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He is expected to be sidelined for between four and six weeks. This is a tough break for both the Reds and fantasy owners alike as Stephenson has been one of the most productive catchers in all of fantasy this year. Over 42 games, Stephenson has slashed .305/.361/.468 with five home runs, 31 RBI and 21 runs. Aramis Garcia will serve as the team's primary catcher while Stephenson is out.

  • Tyler Stephenson Injures Hand Thursday

Cincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson (hand) left the game early on Thursday against the Arizona Diamondbacks with what appeared to be a hand injury after a foul tip went off his right hand. Stephenson went 0-for-2 with two strikeouts in the contest before leaving. We'll have more information on the severity of his injury when it becomes available, but fantasy managers should at least expect Stephenson to be out of action on Friday. The 25-year-old has been one of the best hitting catchers in baseball this year, batting .309 with five home runs and 31 RBI, so losing him for any stretch of time will hurt. Aramis Ramirez replaced Stephenson behind the plate on Thursday and will see more playing time if Stephenson requires a lengthy absence.

  • Tyler Stephenson Takes A Seat Wednesday

Cincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Stephenson is getting a normal day of rest in the midst of a hot streak, as he's 9-for-24 with a home run and seven RBI in six games over the last week of action. He's been one of the most valuable catchers in fantasy this year with a .309/.366/.475 slash line, an .841 OPS, five home runs, 31 RBI, 21 runs scored and one stolen base in 153 plate appearances over 41 games. Aramis Garcia is doing the catching on Wednesday and will hit ninth against Diamondbacks right-hander Merrill Kelly. Garcia is hitting .167 and has just one home run in 60 at-bats this year, so DFS gamers should be able to find more appealing options at the position.

  • Tyler Stephenson Plates Two Monday, Stays Hot

Cincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson continued to produce at the plate in Monday's 7-0 win over the Diamondbacks. The 25-year-old backstop went 2-for-3 with a single, a double, two RBI, and a walk. Stephenson has hit well this season, slashing .306/.365/.455 with four home runs and 28 RBI. His numbers may not be the flashiest, but Stephenson has provided consistency at a very shallow position. He is worth starting at catcher for fantasy managers at all times unless he starts to severely slump.

  • Tyler Stephenson Taking The Day Off

Cincinnati Reds catcher Tyler Stephenson is not in the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Chicago Cubs. Stephenson will get a breather after starting in each of the team's last seven games. The 25-year-old has been a must-start at the weakest position in fantasy on a bad Reds team, as he's slashing a healthy .295/.358/.484 with an .843 OPS, four home runs, 21 RBI, 13 runs scored and one stolen base in 95 at-bats. Aramis Garcia will do the catching on Wednesday and is hitting eighth against Cubs right-hander Kyle Hendricks. Garcia is 9-for-50 (.180) with a solo home run in 20 games played for the Reds this year. He's a low-upside DFS backstop that should be avoided.
