Ronny Mauricio In The Two-Hole Tuesday

New York Mets rookie infielder Ronny Mauricio is playing third base and batting second in the lineup on Tuesday against the Miami Marlins and left-hander Braxton Garrett. Mauricio continues to hold down the hot corner with Bret Batty (groin) missing his fifth straight game due to a left-groin strain. The Mets' No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, will be playing in just his 15th major-league game on Tuesday, but he's held his own so far. In 55 trips to the plate, Mauricio has gone 16-for-52 (.308) with a home run, two doubles, seven RBI, six stolen bases and three runs scored. The 22-year-old Dominican switch-hitter is extremely athletic and can play pretty much all over the diamond. Based on his strong showing after being a September call-up this year, he could force his way onto the Opening Day roster in 2024.

Mets Giving Ronny Mauricio A Look At Third Base

Ronny Mauricio played third base in a major league game for the first time last night, as the Mets took on the Reds at Citi Field. The Mets no. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, has played just nine games at the hot corner in his professional career, two at Triple-A earlier this year and nineā¦
Sep 16 · MLB Trade Rumors Prospects Mets Brett Baty Francisco Lindor Ronny Mauricio Mark VientosRonny Mauricio Back From Illness

New York Mets infield prospect Ronny Mauricio (illness) is starting at third base and batting sixth in the order on Friday against the visiting Cincinnati Reds and right-hander Hunter Greene. Mauricio is feeling well enough to play in the series opener against Cincinnati this weekend after missing the last two games with an illness. With the Mets season virtually over, the 22-year-old expects to see everyday playing time to close out the 2023 campaign in Queens. This will be Mauricio's first big-league start at third base, and he could see more time there with Brett Baty (groin) currently injured. In his first 10 MLB games, Mauricio has gone 11-for-36 (.306) with a homer, two doubles, five RBI, four stolen bases and two runs scored in 38 plate appearances.

Ronny Mauricio Out Of Wednesday's Lineup

New York Mets infielder Ronny Mauricio (illness) is out of the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. It appears the 22-year-old is under the weather, so he'll sit this game out. Luckily, this sounds like a minor issue, so hopefully Mauricio will only miss one game. In his absence, Jeff McNeil will cover second base and bat fifth versus right-hander Zac Gallen on Wednesday. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly with Mauricio out.

Ronny Mauricio Crushes First Career Home Run Tuesday

New York Mets second base prospect Ronny Mauricio reached a career milestone in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Diamondbacks, going 1-for-4 with a two-run home run and a strikeout. The fourth-inning blast high into the right-field seats was the first HR of the 22-year-old's big-league career. Mauricio has looked impressive offensively since getting called up, slashing .306/.342/.444 with five RBI and four stolen bases in 38 plate appearances. Fantasy managers should keep an eye on how he finishes this season to help gauge his potential fantasy value for 2024.

Ronny Mauricio Records Two Hits In MLB Debut

New York Mets infield prospect Ronny Mauricio made an impact in his first major-league game on Friday night in the team's 2-1 win over the visiting Seattle Mariners. Mauricio went 2-for-3 with a double and a strikeout and set a Statcast record with a 117.3 mph exit velocity, the highest exit velocity for a player on their first career hit. The 22-year-old can play pretty much anywhere on the infield, but he'll likely see most of his playing time at the keystone in New York to close out the 2023 campaign. His pure raw power makes him worth picking up in most fantasy leagues if he's still available. The Mets' No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, slashed .292/.346/.506 with an .852 OPS, 23 home runs, 71 RBI, 24 stolen bases and 76 runs scored in 116 games with Triple-A Syracuse before his promotion.

Ronny Mauricio Making MLB Debut Against Seattle

New York Mets infield prospect Ronny Mauricio is making his major-league debut on Friday against the visiting Seattle Mariners, playing second base and batting in the nine-hole. Batting ninth isn't great news for the 22-year-old's DFS value in his first MLB game, but he should play pretty regularly down the stretch for the out-of-contention Mets. The Dominican switch-hitter got the call-up with rosters expanding after hitting .292 (143-for-490) with 23 home runs, 30 doubles, three triples, 71 RBI, 24 stolen bases and 76 runs scored in 116 games for Triple-A Syracuse. He can play pretty much anywhere on the diamond and is worth a waiver-wire pickup in deeper fantasy leagues. The team's No. 4 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, has impressive power that he derives from his 6-foot-3 frame.

Aug 31 · MLB Trade Rumors Prospects Mets Ronny MauricioMets To Promote Ronny Mauricio On Friday

The New York Mets are planning to promote touted prospect Ronny Mauricio from Triple-A Syracuse on Friday when rosters expand to 28. Mauricio, the team's No. 4 prospect per MLB Pipeline, is well-deserving of the call-up. He's hit .295/.349/.511 with an .860 OPS, 23 home runs, 30 doubles, three triples, 71 RBI, 24 stolen bases and 76 runs scored in 115 games and 527 plate appearances for Syracuse this year on the farm. The 22-year-old can pretty much play anywhere on the diamond, but he's likely to take over everyday duties at the hot corner in New York to close out the season for the disappointing Mets. The Dominican switch-hitter stands at 6-foot-3 should be an immediate waiver-wire addition in most leagues, mainly because of his power. Mauricio could eventually settle into a corner-outfield spot down the road.

Ronny Mauricio Extends Hitting Streak In Triple-A

New York Mets shortstop prospect Ronny Mauricio went 1-for-3 with a double and a walk in Tuesday's contest. Mauricio has a ten-game hit streak in Triple-A and collected a hit in 18 of his last 20 games. In last Friday's contest, Mauricio also collected his third multi-homer game. The 22-year-old is slashing .289/.340/.832 with 19 home runs and 19 stolen bases in Triple-A. The fourth-ranked prospect in the Mets' system has started playing third base in Triple-A, making a clearer path to the majors with defensive versatility. With the Mets sending Brett Baty back down to Triple-A, it may not be long before Mauricio can compete at the next level. Mauricio's combination of contact, power, and speed would make him a valuable player in redraft as soon as he is promoted, though there is no indication of when that might be. Mauricio is a valuable asset in dynasty leagues and a potential bench stash in redraft leagues.

Ronny Mauricio Not Being Called Up Tuesday

Several New York Mets minor-leaguers are at the ready at the team's hotel in Kansas City on trade-deadline day on Tuesday, potentially waiting to take the place of players they expect to move, but shortstop prospect Ronny Mauricio isn't one of them. The Mets have already traded starting pitchers Max Scherzer and outfielder Mark Canha, but they might not be done dealing at the deadline. Mauricio is the team's No. 3 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, but he apparently isn't close to making his major-league debut. The 22-year-old switch-hitting Dominican is hitting a strong .293/.343/.492 with an .835 OPS, 16 home runs, 56 RBI, 16 stolen bases and 59 runs scored in 92 games at Triple-A Syracuse. Mauricio could end up making his MLB debut later this year, however, and he could have immediate fantasy appeal given his power/speed combination at a premium position.

Ronny Mauricio Hits Walk-Off Home Run

New York Mets prospect Ronny Mauricio slugged his 16th home run of the season on Saturday, claiming a walk-off victory for Triple-A Syracuse. The heralded shortstop is now slashing .295/.340/.511 through 85 games this season. Mauricio's exceptional power output is nothing new, featuring 60-grade power and coming off a 26-home run 2022 campaign. He's also found new life this season with a more contact-heavy approach, cutting his strikeout rate to just 17%. The 22-year-old is the Mets' second-ranked prospect and the No. 57 prospect in baseball, per MLB Pipeline. Mauricio remains on the cusp of a promotion to the majors, though it may require some positional flexibility with Francisco Lindor occupying shortstop for the Mets. Dynasty fantasy managers should already be aware of Mauricio.

New York Mets shortstop prospect Ronny Mauricio enters the second half of the season on a high note with a .302 batting average to go along with 12 homers, 47 RBI and 14 stolen bases in 321 at-bats for Triple-A Syracuse. Mauricio, 22, has been a hot topic this season, but the Mets have yet to give him a promotion. With the Mets having the opposite first half of the season than expected, they will need to shake things up to get rolling in the second half and Mauricio could be a part of those plans. With Francisco Lindor entrenched at shortstop, Mauricio has gotten playing time around the infield and outfield for Syracuse. Mauricio's easiest path to playing time would be second base with Jeff McNeil coming off a forgettable first half. He could also play the outfield with a combination of Tommy Pham, Mark Canha or Starling Marte getting at-bats as a designated hitter. Regardless, Mauricio has a good shot to get an opportunity at some point down the stretch and his speed and power will be hard to pass on in most formats.
