  • Daulton Varsho Kept Hitless In Wednesday's Loss

Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Daulton Varsho went without a hit in the 10-4 loss to the San Diego Padres on Wednesday. He was 0-for-5 with a pair of punch-outs. Varsho's now hitting .237 with nine home runs, 32 runs, 28 RBI, and four stolen bases across 64 games. After a strong start to the season, the 25-year-old has done almost nothing since the end of May. Over his last 30 games, Varsho's slashing .229/.276/.356 with three home runs and one stolen base. He's startable in two catcher leagues, but fantasy managers in shallower formats can bench him until he turns things around.

  • Daulton Varsho Getting The Day Off On Wednesday

Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Daulton Varsho is absent from the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against left-hander Mike Minor and the Cincinnati Reds. Jose Herrera will be serving as the team's catcher for the game while outfielder Cooper Hummel will be in Varsho's usual leadoff spot. Varsho has been ice cold at the plate over the last few weeks. He's tallied just three hits over his last 28 at-bats dating back to May 27. The 25-year-old is slashing .243/.316/.427 with eight home runs, three stolen bases, 24 RBI and 27 runs over 53 games on the year. He remains a must-start catcher in all formats despite this recent slump.

  • Daulton Varsho Sitting, Jordan Luplow Returns

Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Daulton Varsho is out of the starting lineup on Saturday against the Pittsburgh Pirates, while outfielder Jordan Luplow (foot) will return. Varsho is hitting a respectable .249/.325/.445 with eight home runs, 22 RBI, 27 runs scored and three stolen bases on the year, but he's gone 1-for-14 with four strikeouts in his last four games and could use a day off. Jose Herrera is doing the catching and is batting ninth on Saturday against Pirates right-hander Roansy Contreras. Luplow fouled a ball off his left foot on May 27 and pinch hit on Tuesday, but he's back in the lineup as the designated hitter and will bat sixth. Luplow does have six home runs in 65 at-bats, but he's also hitting .169.

  • Daulton Varsho Remains Sidelined With Shoulder Soreness

Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Daulton Varsho (shoulder) was a late scratch for Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Dodgers due to shoulder soreness. He was initially in Saturday's lineup but was a late scratch. The 25-year-old left the game early on Friday with right shoulder soreness and remains day-to-day. Varsho is one of the top fantasy catchers in 2022, slashing .266/.337/.481 with a .818 OPS, eight home runs, 21 RBI, 24 runs scored, and three stolen bases in 178 plate appearances. Pavin Smith replaced him in the lineup and batted second on Saturday. Smith is worth picking up as a streamer after collecting a hit if five of his last six games.

  • Daulton Varsho Back In Lineup Saturday

Arizona Diamondbacks catcher Daulton Varsho (shoulder) is back in the starting lineup as the designated hitter and is batting leadoff on Saturday against Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tony Gonsolin. Varsho left the game early on Friday with right shoulder soreness, but he's right back in there on Saturday. The 25-year-old backstop is a solid fantasy asset at the weakest position in fantasy. In 44 games this year, he's slashing .266/.337/.481 with an .818 OPS, eight home runs, 21 RBI, 24 runs scored and three stolen bases in 178 plate appearances. • Daulton Varsho Back In The Lineup Wednesday

Arizona Diamondbacks catcher and outfielder Daulton Varsho is in the lineup on Wednesday for a matchup with the Los Angeles Dodgers and right-handed starter Walker Buehler. Varsho didn't start the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader but will return to the leadoff spot in the order on Wednesday. He'll also start at catcher. The 25-year-old is hitting .246 with a .324 on-base percentage, six home runs, and three stolen bases in 139 plate appearances this season.

  • Daulton Varsho Continues Torrid May

Arizona Diamondbacks catcher/outfielder Daulton Varsho has been on fire in the month of May, slashing .326/.396/.605 with two homers and a steal. He's recorded a hit in ten of his 11 games this month. With many of the top options at catcher struggling to start the year, Varsho has solidified himself as a strong choice at the position. Though he was playing predominantly in center field prior to the recall of Alek Thomas, he's been behind the plate of late, meaning there may be a few more off days heading his way, but also that he's certain to retain eligibility entering future seasons. He's a strong play this week with eight games on the schedule.
