Logan Webb Named Opening Day Starter
San Francisco Giants right-hander Logan Webb will start the team's Opening Day contest against the New York Yankees on the road. Right-hander Alex Cobb will pitch the second game, while manager Gabe Kapler said the rest of the rotation is still being sorted out. Nobody should be surprised by Webb getting the Opening Day nod after he had a career-best 2.90 ERA (3.03 FIP), 1.16 WHIP and 20.7 percent strikeout rate in 192 1/3 innings over 32 starts in his fourth year with the team. The 26-year-old should be considered a top-30 fantasy starter in upcoming drafts. Webb finds success not by overpowering hitters, but by using pinpoint location and movement on his pitches. It helps that he resides in a very pitcher-friendly home park.

Logan Webb Scuffles In Spring Debut Monday
San Francisco Giants starting pitcher Logan Webb looked rusty in his first spring appearance in Monday's 8-6 win over the Angels. Webb pitched 2 innings, allowing two runs on four hits (including a two-run home run) and no walks with a strikeout. This is not all that concerning, as the 26-year-old was making his first appearance with the new rules. Webb had a solid 2022 season, going 15-9 with a 2.90 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, and 20.7% strikeout rate. It is worth noting that he did see a drop in strikeout rate and relies heavily on ground balls, which could be impacted by the new shift restrictions. Regardless, Webb should serve as a high-floor, higher-end fantasy starter and currently has a reasonable draft position as the 44th pitcher off the board.

Giants Discussing Extension With Logan Webb
The San Francisco Giants have had discussions with starting pitcher Logan Webb this offseason about a long-term contract extension. Webb ended the 2022 season on the injured list with a back ailment, but he was great otherwise with a 15-9 record, career-best 2.90 ERA (3.03 FIP), 1.16 WHIP and 20.7 percent strikeout rate in a career-high 32 starts over 192 1/3 innings pitched. The strong season came after the 26-year-old right-hander broke out in 2021 in his third year with the organization, posting an 11-3 record, 3.03 ERA (2.72 FIP), 1.11 WHIP and 158 strikeouts in 148 1/3 innings. Webb has morphed into a top-level starting pitcher in both real life and fantasy, which makes sense why he's being considered a candidate for a long-term extension.

Giants, Logan Webb Have Talked About Long-Term Extension
The Giants have had some talks with ace right-hander Logan Webb about a long-term contract, president of baseball operations Farhan Zaidi told Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle. Neither Zaidi or Webb gave any specifics about the nature of the talks, or whether or not a deal could be anywhere close to completion. Webb…
