Justin Steele Throws Successful Bullpen Tuesday
Chicago Cubs starting pitcher Justin Steele (arm) threw a successful bullpen Tuesday, per Marquee Sports Network's Tony Andracki. The 27-year-old was scheduled to make his Cactus League debut on Sunday but was scratched with general arm fatigue. He is now expected to make his next scheduled start after his successful bullpen session. Steele turned in decent numbers in 2022, going 4-7 with a 3.18 ERA, 1.35 WHIP, and 24.6% strikeout rate in 24 starts. He isn't the most exciting starting option, but he could be a useful streaming option at times throughout the season.

Justin Steele Scratched Sunday With Arm Fatigue
Chicago Cubs left-hander Justin Steele (arm) was scratched from his Cactus League debut on Sunday due to general arm fatigue. The plan is to give him a few days to rest before he throws a bullpen session. Javier Assad will now start in Steele's place on Sunday against the Los Angeles Dodgers. As of right now, this doesn't sound like a very serious issue, but we'll know more once he throws a bullpen next week. As long as the 27-year-old southpaw doesn't have more setbacks, he'll have time to get ready for Opening Day. In his second big-league season last year, Steele impressed with a 3.18 ERA (3.20 FIP), 1.35 WHIP and 24.6% strikeout rate in 119 innings and 24 starts for the Cubbies. The emerging left-hander should open the year as the No. 2 starter for Chicago behind Marcus Stroman, if he's healthy.
