Twins Place Royce Lewis On IL With Hamstring Strain

The Twins announced that infielder Royce Lewis has been placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to September 21, due to a left hamstring strain. Outfielder/first baseman Jordan Luplow was recalled in a corresponding move. Lewis, 24, has had a stop-and-start career to this point, flashing incredible talent in between injury absences. The former first…
Sep 22 · MLB Trade Rumors Prospects Twins Royce LewisRoyce Lewis Goes On Injured List

The Minnesota Twins placed infielder Royce Lewis (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list on Friday with a left-hamstring strain and recalled outfielder Jordan Luplow from the minors in a corresponding move. Lewis injured his hamstring on Tuesday and will now miss the conclusion of the 2023 regular season. It remains to be seen if the 24-year-old will be back in time for the start of the postseason. The former first overall pick in 2017 has dealt with his fair share of injuries, but he was dynamic when on the field for Minnesota this year, hitting .309/.372/.548 with a .921 OPS, 15 home runs (four grand slams), 52 RBI, six stolen bases and 36 runs scored in 217 at-bats. Carlos Correa (foot) is also currently sidelined, so Kyle Farmer will handle the 6 and Willi Castro will handle third base for the Twins moving forward.

Royce Lewis To Have MRI Exam This Weekend

Minnesota Twins infielder Royce Lewis (hamstring) will have an MRI exam on his injured hamstring when the team returns home this weekend. Lewis tweaked his hamstring in the game on Tuesday night and had to be removed. It's a situation that is yet to be determined, which means he's a candidate to go on the injured list. It's bad news for the Twins infield situation, as they just put shortstop Carlos Correa (foot) on the injured list as well while he deals with plantar fasciitis. Given the 24-year-old's injury history, it wouldn't be surprising if he was shut down for the rest of the regular season. Kyle Farmer should see everyday playing time at the 6 with Correa out, while Willi Castro should be a mainstay at the hot corner while Lewis heals up. Check back this weekend for an update on Lewis' condition and whether he has a chance to return this year.

Royce Lewis Injured Tuesday

Minnesota Twins infielder Royce Lewis (hamstring) left Tuesday's game early against the Cincinnati Reds with left-hamstring tightness. Lewis initially injured his hamstring in the sixth inning and tried to stay in before eventually leaving in the eighth frame. For now, he's being considered day-to-day, so fantasy managers will want to check back on Wednesday to see if he's able to return to the lineup. Before leaving, the 24-year-old went 1-for-3 with a walk and a strikeout. The former first overall pick in 2017 has only played in 58 games this year due to injuries, but when he's been active he's been great for the Twins and fantasy managers. Lewis entered Tuesday's contest hitting .308 (66-for-214) with 15 home runs (four grand slams), seven doubles, 52 RBI, six stolen bases and 36 runs scored in 235 plate appearances.

Royce Lewis Hits Another Grand Slam

Minnesota Twins infielder/outfielder Royce Lewis continues to have a flare for the dramatic with the bases loaded, as he hit a franchise-record fourth grand slam on Friday in the 10-2 win over the Chicago White Sox. Lewis also became the first player in MLB history with five grand slams among his first 16 career home runs. The 24-year-old went 1-for-2 in the game with four RBI, two runs scored, three walks and one strikeout. Lewis missed a lot of time due to injury this year, but he's making up for it and is now slashing .302/.365/.545 with a .909 OPS, 14 home runs, 50 RBI, six stolen bases and 34 runs scored in his 202 at-bats for the Twins. He's been hot in September, going 15-for-52 (.289) with five homers, two doubles, 21 RBI, four steals and 13 runs scored in just 14 starts.

Royce Lewis Smashes 12th Homer Of Season Monday

Minnesota Twins third baseman Royce Lewis continued to crush the ball in Monday's 7-4 loss to the Rays. Lewis went 1-for-4 with a three-run home run and two strikeouts. Despite dealing with injuries at the beginning of the season, the 24-year-old has continued to show why he was a top fantasy prospect, slashing .312/.363/.540 with 12 HR, 44 RBI, and five stolen bases in just 204 plate appearances. He should be in fantasy managers' lineups at all times down the stretch and will be an intriguing option for next season as long as he remains healthy.

Minnesota Twins infielder Royce Lewis had a big game in a 20-6 win over the Cleveland Guardians on Monday. Lewis went 3-for-4 with a grand slam, finishing with two runs and six RBI in the blowout victory. The rookie infielder has been on fire this season, with the grand slam on Monday marking his fourth in just 44 games played and third in his past eight contests. Overall, Lewis is batting .317 with 11 homers and 39 RBI in the 2023 season. He has worked his way into must-start territory in all fantasy formats moving forward.

Royce Lewis Hits Second Career Grand Slam Sunday

On Sunday, Minnesota Twins designated hitter/infielder Royce Lewis came through with a grand slam, propelling the Twins to a narrow 7-6 victory over the Rangers in an uncommon 13-inning contest. The marathon game concluded when Rangers relief pitcher Jonathan Hernandez issued a bases-loaded walk to Michael A. Taylor. This led to the second grand slam of Lewis's career. In 138 trips to the plate this season, the 24-year-old has smacked seven home runs and logged 24 RBI.

Royce Lewis Activated From Injured List

The Minnesota Twins activated infielder/outfielder Royce Lewis (oblique) from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday. In a corresponding move, infielder Willi Castro (oblique) was placed on the injured list with a mild left-oblique strain. Lewis will return to the Twins roster after missing more than six weeks with a Grade 2 left-oblique strain. Given the 24-year-old's ability to play pretty much all over the field, Lewis should find his way into Minnesota's starting lineup more often than not, making him worth a pickup in any fantasy leagues where he's available. Before his injury this year, Lewis had gone 31-for-95 (.326) with four home runs, two doubles, 15 RBI and 11 runs scored in just 26 games played.

Royce Lewis To Begin Rehab Assignment Tuesday

Minnesota Twins shortstop Royce Lewis (oblique) will start his minor-league rehab assignment at Triple-A St. Paul on Tuesday. Lewis could return to the team as early as this weekend as long as he doesn't suffer any setbacks from a left-oblique strain that has kept him sidelined since July 1. If the 24-year-old is available on your league's waiver wire, it's time to scoop him up before he returns from the 10-day injured list, although he could struggle to find consistent playing time for the Twins on the infield. The former first overall pick in 2017 was playing very well before his injury in 2023, slashing .326/.354/.474 with an .827 OPS, four home runs, two doubles, 15 RBI and 11 runs scored in 26 games.

Royce Lewis Takes Batting Practice On Friday

Minnesota Twins third baseman Royce Lewis (oblique) revealed to reporters that he took batting practice on Friday and he has been throwing each day since the All-Star break. The 24-year-old also said he's not experiencing any pain, but that this situation is being taken carefully to minimize any possible setbacks. Lewis overcame right knee surgery to initially get the ball rolling on his 2023 season, so Minnesota wants to err on the side of caution once again with the former No. 1 overall pick. Lewis has resided on the injured list since July 2 with a left oblique strain. Depending on how quickly he ramps up baseball activity, fantasy managers could justifiably expect the rookie back in early-to-mid August. Lewis should be stashed wherever possible; he was batting a very promising .326 with an .827 OPS, four home runs, 15 RBI, and one stolen base in 95 at-bats this year.

Royce Lewis Diagnosed With Grade 2 Oblique Strain

The Twins placed infielder Royce Lewis on the 10-day injured list on the weekend due to a strained left oblique. The club was initially hopeful that he would only require a minimum stint but manager Rocco Baldelli yesterday informed reporters, including Bobby Nightengale of the Star Tribune, that Lewis has been diagnosed with a Grade…
Jul 4 · MLB Trade Rumors Prospects Twins Royce LewisRoyce Lewis Has Grade 2 Oblique Strain

Minnesota Twins infielder Royce Lewis (oblique) has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 left-oblique strain, according to manager Rocco Baldelli. The typical recovery timeline for that injury is around six weeks. Lewis has a long recovery ahead of him and might not make it back to the Twins until the middle of August, barring a setback along the way. The 24-year-old continues to be set back by injuries, as he didn't make his season debut until late May due to his second torn ACL. He's only played in 26 games this year, but he was hitting .326 (31-for-95) with four home runs, 15 RBI and 11 runs scored in 99 plate appearances before his oblique strain. The Twins recently called up Jose Miranda from the minors, and he figures to see plenty of playing time at the hot corner until further notice.

Royce Lewis Heading To The Injured List

Minnesota Twins third baseman Royce Lewis (oblique) was placed on the 10-day injured list. The 24-year-old suffered a left oblique strain while running to first base in the third inning of Saturday's win over Baltimore, so he ended the day by going hitless in two at-bats. At any rate, Lewis was replaced in the lineup by Kyle Farmer, who may be looking at more work moving ahead.
