Royce Lewis Limited In Spring Training
As he rehabs from a torn ACL in his right knee, Minnesota Twins shortstop/outfielder Royce Lewis is only approved to perform around 75 percent of baseball activities in spring training. He is nearly eight months removed from his second ACL surgery, but Lewis isn't sure when he'll be cleared for full baseball activities. His next check-in with his doctor is scheduled for March 8-9. The 23-year-old isn't expected to be able to make his 2023 debut until sometime in late June or early July, so he'll miss most of the first half of the season. Prior to his injury last year, Lewis was hitting the ball very well. With Carlos Correa now back with the team, Lewis' playing time with the big-league club is somewhat in question, but the team should find a spot for him in the second half if he picks up where he left off in 2022 before his injury.

Players That Could Move To The 60-Day IL Once Spring Training Begins
Just about every baseball team has a full 40-man roster now, with the Astros the only team with an open spot at the moment. That means that just about every transaction, be it a free agent signing or a waiver claim, requires a corresponding move. However, that could soon change as the injured list is…

Minnesota Twins shortstop prospect Royce Lewis (knee) tore the ACL in his right knee for a second time this past May. The first overall pick of the 2017 draft lost the 2020 campaign because of the COVID pandemic, missed all of 2021 with a torn ACL and then tore his ACL again last season. He's not expected back with the Twins until late June or July. This time around, Lewis has a better understanding of the rehab process. He's hoping to begin swinging a bat by the middle of January. Minnesota is excited about Lewis' future, but they are tempering expectations after he hit .300/.317/.550 in 41 plate appearances in the big leagues before his injury. Everything is going well in the 23-year-old's recovery and he's hoping to report to spring training and progress to more activities sometime in March.
