  • Astros Working On Extension For Kyle Tucker

Houston Astros general manager Dana Brown said he's giving contract talks "48 hours" in their attempt to lock up star outfielder Kyle Tucker to a long-term deal. "We're communicating. It looks like we're further away with Tucker, but we'll see," Brown said. Some sources suggest Tucker is looking for a longer deal. He's slated to become a free agent after the 2025 season. The 26-year-old slugger has quickly become a top-10 fantasy asset in one of the best lineups in baseball. He made the All-Star team for the first time in 2022 by hitting .257/.330/.478 with an .808 OPS, career-high-tying 30 home runs, a career-high 107 RBI, 71 runs scored and career-high 25 stolen bases in 609 plate appearances over 150 games.

  • Astros Facing Gaps In Extension Talks With Kyle Tucker, Framber Valdez

The Astros have spent the past few weeks attempting to work out extensions with a number of key players. Outfielder Kyle Tucker and starting pitcher Framber Valdez are among those with whom the club has been in contact, though the New York Post’s Jon Heyman now casts some doubt on the chances of either player signing this…

  • Latest On The Astros' Outfielders

Roster battles are few and far between for the defending champion Astros this spring, but manager Dusty Baker told reporters (including the Houston Chronicle’s Chandler Rome) that there’ll be a bit of competition in center field between Jake Meyers and Chas McCormick over the next six weeks. “There’s competition … We hope [Jake] Meyers bounces…

  • Kyle Tucker Loses Arbitration Case

Houston Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker lost his salary arbitration case against the team on Thursday and will make $5 million in 2023 instead of the $7.5 million he requested. The $2.5 million gap between Tucker and the Astros was matched by Toronto Blue Jays shortstop Bo Bichette's for the largest among 33 players who exchanged proposed salaries with their teams last month. The 26-year-old Tucker hit .257 with 30 home runs, a career-best 107 RBI and 25 stolen bases while also winning a Gold Glove for his work in the outfield. Tucker has really broken out the last two seasons, as he also hit .294 with 30 long balls and 92 RBI in 2021. He should be considered a top-10 overall fantasy player heading into 2023 drafts.

  • Kyle Tucker Loses Arbitration Hearing Against Astros

Astros outfielder Kyle Tucker has lost his arbitration case, the Associated Press reports. He’ll be paid at the team’s filing rate of $5MM instead of the $7.5MM his camp had sought. That $2.5MM gap was the largest of any player and team who had gone to an arbitration hearing this offseason. (The Blue Jays and Bo Bichette…

  • Astros, Kyle Tucker Have Discussed Extension

Houston Astros new general manager Dana Brown said the team has begun contract extension talks with outfielder Kyle Tucker and his representatives. The Astros also have a potential arbitration hearing with Tucker this month, but an extension would likely wipe out his arbitration-eligible years. The 26-year-old left-handed slugger made the All-Star team for the first time in 2022, hitting .257/.330/.478 with an .808 OPS, career-high-tying 30 home runs, career-high 107 RBI, 71 runs scored and career-high 25 stolen bases in 609 plate appearances over 150 games played. He's had exactly 30 homers in each of the last two seasons while also picking up 39 stolen bases, making him one of the better young outfielders in the game. RotoBaller currently has Tucker ranked as the No. 6 overall fantasy player.
