Ian Anderson Optioned To Triple-A Gwinnett Tuesday
The Atlanta Braves optioned starting pitcher Ian Anderson to Triple-A Gwinnett on Tuesday, per the team's Twitter account. The 24-year-old had a strong 2021 season but struggled last season with a 5.00 ERA, 1.51 WHIP, and 19.7% strikeout rate in 22 starts. It remains to be seen who will start the season as the Braves' fifth starter and it is possible that Anderson will get a chance to pitch with the team at some point during the season, but he will not get the first chance. This severely limits his fantasy value to start the season.

Atlanta Braves starting pitcher Ian Anderson really struggled in his third major-league season in 2022, posting a career-worst 5.00 ERA (4.25 FIP), 1.51 WHIP and career-low 19.7 percent strikeout rate in 111 2/3 innings over 22 starts. It got so bad that he was temporarily demoted to Triple-A to fix some things. He's competing for the fifth spot in the rotation this spring with Mike Soroka, Bryce Elder and Kolby Allard. The former first-rounder made multiple mechanical changes in the offseason while trying to clean up his delivery and keep better posture. The 24-year-old right-hander will need to clean up his control issues as well, but he's still very young and could bounce back if he wins a rotation spot to begin the 2023 season.
