  • Hunter Greene Undergoes MRI, Won't Need Surgery

Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Hunter Greene (shoulder) underwent an MRI and is expected to avoid surgery, according to Bobby Nightengale Jr. of the Cincinnati Enquirer. Although he won't need to go under the knife, there's still not timetable for Greene's return and it's unclear if he will pitch again in 2022. He's currently on the 15-day injured list and isn't expected to return as soon as he is eligible in two weeks. Greene is 4-12 with a 3.97 xFIP, 11.13 K/9, and 3.59 BB/9 through 20 games this season. He throws a triple-digits fastball but has surrendered home runs at a concerning rate of 2.02 per nine innings. His 27.9 GB% is also lower than ideal. Still, Greene is young and throws hard, making him worth rostering in most fantasy leagues upon his return.

  • Hunter Greene Goes On Injured List With Shoulder Strain

The Cincinnati Reds placed right-handed rookie Hunter Greene (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list on Friday with a right shoulder strain and recalled right-hander Ryan Hendrix from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. The move to place Greene on the injured list is retroactive to Aug. 4. There is no timetable for the 22-year-old's return, but this late into the season, it's possible that he doesn't make it back for a bad Reds team that has nothing left to play for in 2022. He's been useful in fantasy for his strikeout rate (28.8%), but he's also sporting a 5.26 ERA (4.95 FIP), 1.29 WHIP and 41 walks in 102 2/3 innings over 20 starts in his first major league season. Stash Greene for now in all fantasy formats, but be prepared for the possibility that we don't see him again this year.

  • Hunter Greene Shuts Out Marlins Across Six Innings

Cincinnati Reds starter Hunter Greene pitched one of his best games on Monday, earning his fourth win of the year after holding the Miami Marlins to no runs through six innings of the eventual 3-1 victory. He struck out eight, walked nobody, and let up a single hit. Despite the great start, Greene still owns an ugly 5.26 ERA and 1.30 WHIP, largely due to the 41 walks and 23 HRs he's given up over 102.2 innings. Fantasy managers can rely on the 22-year-old for an abundance of strikeouts (127), but he has a lot of flaws early in his career.

  • Hunter Greene Dominates In Monday's Win

Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Hunter Greene looked very sharp in Monday's 7-0 win over the Diamondbacks. Greene pitched 7 innings before the game was called due to rain, allowing no runs on a single hit and no walks with eight strikeouts. It was one of the 22-year-old's best starts of the season and showcased why he has so much fantasy excitement surrounding him. That being said, he has been highly inconsistent this season and now has a 3-7 record with a 5.40 ERA, 72 strikeouts, and 24 walks over 11 starts and 55 IP. His next matchup will be a tough one at the Cardinals and fantasy managers should avoid him, despite his most-recent showing.

  • Hunter Greene Allows No Hits Over 7 1/3 Innings

Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Hunter Greene had the most impressive start of his young career thus far in Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. He pitched 7 1/3 innings and didn't allow a single hit while striking out nine batters. Unfortunately, he walked five batters and allowed a run to score on a fielder's choice play in the eighth inning. The Reds weren't able to provide any run support for him, so he wound up with his sixth loss in the game. The rookie now sits at 1-6 with a 6.21 ERA on the season. He'll look to build off Sunday's outing in his next trip to the mound, which will be next Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays.
