  • Ryan McMahon Likely To Move To 2B This Year

Colorado Rockies general manager Bill Schmidt said that the team will likely move infielder Ryan McMahon to second base with Brendan Rodgers (shoulder) potentially missing the entire 2023 season. Colorado will also look at Nolan Jones and Elehuris Montero at third base while keeping Kris Bryant in the outfield. Schmidt also didn't completely rule out a trade for more infield depth. The 28-year-old McMahon will see a boost to his fantasy value while regaining second base eligibility. Like many Rockies players, McMahon hits much better at Coors Field than on the road. He has clubbed 20-plus home runs in the last three full seasons, but he's best deployed in fantasy lineups when he has home cooking.

  • Brendan Rodgers Going For Second Opinion

Colorado Rockies second baseman Brendan Rodgers (shoulder) will get a second opinion after the first opinion on his dislocated left shoulder called for season-ending surgery. The Rockies will consider internal candidates first and don't seem to have any interest in bringing infielder Jose Iglesias back. Already a player that fantasy managers in most leagues are tired of waiting for, the 26-year-old should definitely be avoided now in upcoming drafts with the possibility of missing the entire 2023 campaign. Rodgers hit .266/.325/.408 with a .733 OPS, 13 home runs, a career-high 63 RBI and 72 runs scored in 137 games last year, and he's still looking for his first career stolen base after four MLB seasons.

  • Brendan Rodgers Could Require Surgery

Colorado Rockies second baseman Brendan Rodgers (shoulder), who suffered a dislocated left shoulder in a Cactus League game earlier this week, has more damage than expected to his shoulder capsule. Doctors are still looking at him, but surgery is a possibility, which could threaten his entire 2023 season. If Rodgers misses the entire season, Ryan McMahon could serve as the full-time second baseman for the Rockies. Colorado could also choose to mix and match at the keystone with Harold Castro and/or Alan Trejo. The 26-year-old Rodgers hasn't been able to put it all together at the major-league level, and injuries continue to get in his way. Fantasy managers with drafts in the coming days would be wise to avoid Rodgers altogether until we know more.

  • Brendan Rodgers Injures His Shoulder Tuesday

Colorado Rockies second baseman Brendan Rodgers (shoulder) left the team's Cactus League game early on Tuesday against the Texas Rangers due to a shoulder injury. Manager Bud Black said they had to pop Rodgers' shoulder back into place. It sounds like a dislocated shoulder for the 26-year-old, but we should know more in the coming days as to how much time Rodgers may have to miss in camp. The good news is it's still pretty early in spring training, but that doesn't necessarily mean he'll be ready for Opening Day. Injuries have kept him from reaching his true potential, and Rodgers continues to be a frustrating fantasy player with extreme home/road splits. One thing is for sure: Nobody should be reaching for Rodgers in drafts.

  • Brendan Rodgers To Make $2.7 Million In 2023

The Colorado Rockies and second baseman Brendan Rodgers avoided salary arbitration on Friday by agreeing to a one-year, $2.7 million deal. In his fourth year in the big leagues with the Rockies in 2022, Rodgers slashed .266/.325/.408 with a .733 OPS, 13 home runs, 63 RBI and 72 runs scored in 581 plate appearances and a career-high 137 games. He hasn't been much to look at from a fantasy perspective with only 28 home runs, 123 RBI and no stolen bases in four seasons at Coors Field, but offers the Rockies great defense at the keystone and could develop more power along the way. Rodgers remains a decent selection as a middle infielder in deep mixed leagues in 2023.
