  • Rafael Devers Launches His 25th Home Run

Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers helped the team defeat the New York Yankees 3-0 on Sunday. He went 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI in the contest. The 25-year-old now has 25 home runs and 62 RBI on the year to go along with a .305/.361/.577 slash line. His strong surface stats are backed up by some gaudy Statcast metrics. He ranks in the 95th percentile or better in a number of key metrics such as average exit velocity (93.5 mph), hard-hit rate (51.9%) and xBA (.291).

  • Rafael Devers Reinstated From The Injured List

Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (hamstring) was activated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday. He has been sidelined since July 23 with a hamstring injury. The 27-year-old was in the lineup for Tuesday's game against Houston, batting third in the order and starting at third base. He is slashing .324/.379/.602 with 22 home runs, 55 RBI, 62 runs, and two stolen bases in 87 games in 2022. Devers has been one of the most consistent hitters in the league and should give fantasy managers a vast boost in the second half of the season now that he's been reinstated from the IL.

  • Rafael Devers Expected Back When First Eligible

Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora provided an update on the team's many injured players on Thursday, including star third baseman Rafael Devers (hamstring). He stated that Devers has begun taking ground balls and that he is on track to return from the 10-day injured list when first eligible, on Tuesday, August 2. Devers has been sidelined since July 22 due to a right hamstring injury. The 25-year-old has been one of the most consistently dominant hitters in the majors this year. Across 87 games, he's slashed .324/.379/.602 with 22 home runs, 55 RBI and 62 runs.

  • Rafael Devers Takes Batting Practice Wednesday

Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (hamstring) took some swings in the batting cage at Fenway Park on Wednesday. He reportedly looked loose and comfortable, driving the ball between the gaps as usual. The 25-year-old All-Star is eligible to return from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday. He has been one of the few bright spots for the Red Sox this season, slashing .324/.379/.602 with 22 home runs, 55 RBI, 62 runs scored, and two stolen bases over 380 plate appearances. Devers will most likely go on a rehab assignment this weekend, and fantasy managers could have the star Red Sox third baseman in their lineups sometime next week.

  • Red Sox Not Considering Dealing Xander Bogaerts, Rafael Devers

Boston Red Sox president Sam Kennedy said "there's been no discussion or communication internally or externally" about trading shortstop Xander Bogaerts or third baseman Rafael Devers. The Red Sox have lost eight of their last 10 games and might become sellers rather than buyers as the Aug. 2 trade deadline rapidly approaches. However, they are still unlikely to trade two of their best players in Bogaerts and Devers. Bogaerts is expected to opt out of his deal after this season and test the free-agent market, so of the two, he'd make more sense to be traded this summer. Devers isn't eligible to become a free agent until 2024, and he also just landed on the injured list last Saturday with right hamstring inflammation.

  • Rafael Devers Placed On Injured List

Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day IL Saturday after tweaking his right hamstring in Friday's loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. The injuries keep piling up for the Red Sox, who are already without Trevor Story, J.D. Martinez, and Kike Hernandez this weekend. Devers, who has played at a near-MVP level this season, has a 1.052 OPS with 49 runs, 46 RBI, and 19 homers since May 1st. Needless to say, this is a tough loss for fantasy managers. Hopefully, Devers stay on the IL is short-lived, but the timeline isn't known yet.

  • Rafael Devers Could Head To The Injured List

Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (hamstring), who is absent from the lineup on Saturday, could be headed to the injured list, per beat writer Julian McWilliams. The 25-year-old All-Star tweaked his right hamstring in Friday's lopsided loss to the Toronto Blue Jays. The Red Sox will likely hold him out for the remainder of the series before they decide to place him on the injured list or not. Either way, it's not encouraging news for Boston or fantasy managers alike. Devers is one of the best hitters in all of baseball, slashing .324/.379/.602 with 22 home runs, 55 RBI and two stolen bases in 349 at-bats this season. He should be considered day-to-day for the time being, but fantasy managers need to prepare for the worst in the meantime.

  • Rafael Devers Not In The Starting Lineup

Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers is not in the starting lineup on Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays. Devers will take a seat after going 1-for-3 with a double and a strikeout in the embarrassing blowout loss to the Blue Jays to kick off the second half of the season on Friday. The 25-year-old Dominican is one of the best all-around hitters in baseball, as he's slashing .324/.379/.602 with a .981 OPS, 22 home runs, 55 RBI, 62 runs scored and two stolen bases in 349 at-bats this year. His 113 hits lead off of baseball. Rookie Jeter Downs will start at the hot corner and bat ninth on Saturday against Blue Jays right-hander Alek Manoah. Downs has struggled in his first 31 big-league plate appearances, going just 5-for-29 (.172) with a homer, four RBI and 15 strikeouts.

  • Details Released On Rafael Devers' Extension Talks

The Boston Red Sox have yet to lock up star third baseman Rafael Devers to a long-term deal. According to Alex Speier of the Boston Globe, as the two sides were in contract talks prior to the season, the Red Sox were viewing Matt Olson's eight-year, $168 million deal as a potential model for a Devers deal. The 25-year-old has one more year on his current contract after this year. He is set to enter free agency prior to the 2024 season unless he and the Red Sox can come to terms on an extension.

  • Rafael Devers Provides Lone Run For Red Sox

Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers was the team's offense in a 14-1 rout at the hands of the division-rival New York Yankees on Saturday night. Devers went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in the contest. The 25-year-old will start at third base for the American League in next week's All-Star game, and he heads into the final game of the first half of the season on Sunday with an exceptional .327/.382/.606 slash line with a .989 OPS, a league-high 112 hits, 22 home runs, 55 RBI, 62 runs scored, a league-high 208 total bases and two stolen bases in 343 at-bats. Devers is an obvious must-start candidate in all single-year leagues as one of the best hitters in baseball.

  • Rafael Devers Won't Play On Saturday

Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (back) was removed early during Friday's game against the New York Yankees. The young slugger exited the game after hitting the railing while going after a foul ball. Manager Alex Cora mentioned that Devers won't suit up for Saturday's contest. It sounds like Devers is day-to-day, but the Red Sox are going to be extremely cautious with their young infielder. Fantasy managers shouldn't be surprised if Devers misses more than one game from this issue.

  • Rafael Devers Removed From Friday's Game

Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers (back) was removed from Friday's game against the New York Yankees in the top of the fifth inning due to an apparent lower-back injury. The 25-year-old went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts before exiting. He appeared to be wincing in pain and grabbing his lower back after striking out during the fourth inning. The star third baseman is considered day-to-day. Devers is slashing .327/.384/.593 with 19 home runs, 51 RBI, 59 runs, and two stolen bases across 80 games in 2022. Franchy Cordero replaced Devers in Friday's game while Christian Arroyo moved to third and Jackie Bradley Jr. to right field. Arroyo would see an uptick in playing time if Devers is forced to miss additional time. Stay tuned.

  • Rafael Devers Sitting Wednesday With Injuries

Boston Red Sox skipper Alex Cora said that third baseman Rafael Devers (back, hamstring) will sit out again on Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Rays. "Little bit sore, right hammy, tight back," Cora said. Devers will miss his second straight game, but the injuries sound pretty minor, and fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. Christian Arroyo will start at third base and hit eighth on Wednesday against Rays right-hander Corey Kluber. Arroyo will be a low-upside DFS option in the absence of Devers, although he has gone 8-for-18 (.444) with a home run and three RBI in six games over the last two weeks. Overall, though, he's hitting only .229 with four home runs, 13 RBI and three stolen bases in 40 games for the BoSox.

  • Rafael Devers Getting A Rest On Tuesday

Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers is absent from the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against left-hander Jeffrey Springs and the Tampa Bay Rays. Christian Arroyo will be manning the hot corner for the game. This is nothing but a routine rest day for Devers, who has continued to smash the ball all season long. He ranks third in the majors in batting average (.327) and sixth in the majors in OPS (.962). He's also maintaining a career-best 52.9% hard-hit rate and a career-best average exit velocity of 93.8 mph.

Across 71 games this season, he's hitting .334/.392/.606 with 17 home runs, 45 RBI and 55 runs. His peripheral numbers are even more encouraging as he's maintaining career-highs in average exit velocity (94.2 mph), xBA (.331), hard-hit rate (54.5%) and xSLG (.613).

  • Rafael Devers Logs Four Hits On Saturday

Boston Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers went 4-for-5 with a double, three singles, and a strikeout during Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Baltimore Orioles. Although he wound up going 0-for-4 in Game 2, Devers' overall production at the plate this season has been otherworldly. He ranks among the top 10 percent of hitters in exit velocity, hard hit rate, xwOBA, xBA, and xSLG. He also leads all of MLB with 19 doubles, and 69 hits. Over his last 15 games along, the 25-year-old star is slashing .424/.449/.818 with five homers, nine RBI, and nine doubles. He is neck-and-neck with Jose Ramirez as the duo set their sights on a well-deserved All-Star Game selection. Although results of that contest remain unclear, one thing is certain: Devers could be a fantasy league-winner in 2022 and has established himself as a start-and-forget weapon for the remainder of the season.
