  • Luke Voit Opts Out Of Deal With Brewers

First baseman Luke Voit opted out of his minor-league deal with the Milwaukee Brewers. He can still be part of the Brewers Opening Day roster but will explore his options before reassessing the situation. Voit, a 32-year-old slugger, spent his 2022 campaign with the San Diego Padres and Washington Nationals. He slugged a career-tying 22 home runs and slashed a middling .226/.308/.402 with a .710 OPS. Voit's ability to create contact has teetered off quite a bit since his magical .948 OPS season with the New York Yankees back in 2019. He struck out a whopping 179 times (31.4% rate) this past season and doesn't provide much value to a lineup aside from his over-the-fence power. Although, if Voit resorts back to Milwaukee, there's a chance that he could make the 26-man roster.

  • Luke Voit Pushes Back Opt-Out Date

First-baseman/designated hitter Luke Voit has pushed back the opt-out date on his minor league deal with the Brewers until Friday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Voit told reporters he likes the fit with Milwaukee, and that the team likes him, but they are trying to maintain maximum 40-man roster flexibility going into the season. Voit…

  • Brewers Notes: Voit, Sanchez, Miley

Luke Voit has been a member of the Brewers organization for just a few weeks. The former home run leader signed a minor league deal a couple weeks ago, getting an opportunity to audition for a roster spot early in Spring Training. The Brewers will have to make that call relatively early into exhibition play.…

  • Luke Voit Signs Minor-League Deal With Brewers

Free-agent first baseman Luke Voit signed a minor-league deal with the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday that includes an invitation to major-league spring training. Voit will join the Brew Crew after spending the 2022 season with the San Diego Padres and Washington Nationals, where he hit a combined .226/.308/.402 with a career-low .710 OPS, 22 home runs, 69 RBI and 55 runs scored in 568 plate appearances and a career-high 135 games played. The 32-year-old right-handed slugger should have a good shot to make Milwaukee's Opening Day roster as an option at designated hitter and first base. The 2020 home run champ has had two down seasons and isn't hitting homers at the clip he did in the shortened season with the New York Yankees. Voit will be worth looking at for some power in NL-only leagues with limited playing time.

  • The Free Agent Market Still Has A Handful Of Interesting Platoon Bats

Free agency is slim pickings at this point, with very few potential everyday players still available. There are only 13 hitters who appeared in 100+ games last season who remain unsigned. Only ten of those names topped 400 plate appearances, and only three topped 500. Jurickson Profar and Elvis Andrus are the closest thing to…

The major league leader in home runs in 2020 was Yankee first baseman Luke Voit. He launched 22 homers in that season, shortened by the pandemic to just 60 games. No one else in baseball hit more than 19. He also cut his strikeout rate to 23.1%, just below that year’s league average, after being…
