  • Reds Designate Hunter Renfroe For Assignment

    Headshot for Harrison Bader

The Reds announced that they have reinstated outfielder Stuart Fairchild from the COVID-19 injured list with outfielder Hunter Renfroe designated for assignment in a corresponding move. Renfroe, 31, joined the Reds just over two weeks ago. He began the year with the Angels, who went for it at the deadline but then fell out of…

The Reds announced a series of roster moves today, with left-hander Alex Young reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list and right-hander Connor Phillips selected to the roster. • Reds Place Harrison Bader On 10-Day Injured List

    Headshot for Harrison Bader

The Cincinnati Reds placed outfielder Harrison Bader (groin) on the 10-day injured list on Monday with a right-groin strain. The team also reinstated left-hander Alex Young (illness) from the COVID-19 list and optioned right-hander Carson Spiers to Triple-A Louisville. Bader injured himself on Sunday against the New York Mets and will most likely miss the rest of the regular season. The 29-year-old was acquired in a midseason trade from the New York Yankees and only played in 14 games for the Reds before getting hurt, going 5-for-31 (.161) with no homers, three RBI, three stolen bases and four runs scored in 34 plate appearances. If Bader's season is over, he'll finish 2023 with a disappointing .232/.274/.348 slash line with seven homers, 40 RBI, a career-high 20 steals and 44 runs scored in 98 games with the Yanks and Reds.

  • Previewing The 2023-24 Free Agent Class: Center Field

    Headshot for Harrison Bader

Throughout the week, we've covered the upcoming free agent class at MLBTR. As Anthony Franco noted earlier today, we’ll now move to the outfield. You can check out that piece for a preview of the left field/right field options available this winter, but we’ll focus here on center field — one of the relatively well-stocked…

  • Harrison Bader Picked Up By Cincinnati

    Headshot for Harrison Bader

The Cincinnati Reds claimed outfielder Harrison Bader off waivers from the New York Yankees on Thursday, according to sources. The Reds added both Bader and outfielder Hunter Renfroe off waivers on Thursday as they attempt to win a wild-card spot in the National League in the final month of the regular season. They're currently just one game out of the final spot. The 29-year-old Bader should at least have a platoon spot in center field for his new team in Cincy with TJ Friedl. The oft-injured Bader could probably use a change of scenery, too, as he was hitting .240 (69-for-288) with seven home runs, 37 RBI, 17 stolen bases and 40 runs scored for the Yankees this year. Bader will hit the open market this winter as a free agent.

  • Harrison Bader Waived By Yankees

    Headshot for Harrison Bader

New York Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader has been waived by the organization on Tuesday. The 29-year-old is set to become a free agent at the end of the season. Clearly, the Yankees don't plan on bringing him back, so they'll waive him in hopes of getting some salary relief. This season, Bader is slashing .242/.279/.370 with seven home runs and 37 RBI in 74 games. He doesn't offer much upside with the bat, but plays above average defense. He could be worth a look as a possible fourth outfielder on a playoff contending team.

  • Harrison Bader Drawing Trade Interest, Absent From Lineup Tuesday

    Headshot for Harrison Bader

New York Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader is generating interest ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network. It's also worth noting that he isn't in the Yankees' starting lineup for Tuesday versus the Tampa Bay Rays. While it remains to be seen whether New York wants to trade Bader specifically, there have been numerous reports suggesting the club is willing to part with rentals. Bader is a free agent after this season and could provide support to a contender with his .256/.283/.417 slash line, 16.0% strikeout rate, and 6.3 dWAR through 57 games in center field.

  • Harrison Bader Returns To Sunday's Lineup

    Headshot for Harrison Bader

New York Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader (ribs) is back in the starting lineup on Sunday, starting in center field and batting sixth against the visiting Kansas City Royals and right-hander Jordan Lyles. Bader will be making his first start for the Yankees since suffering bruised ribs on Wednesday, and he also served as a pinch-hitter in Saturday's game. The 29-year-old should be rostered in most fantasy leagues for his power/speed abilities as New York's starting center fielder, but he's been a bit of a disappointment in his first full season in the Bronx in 2023. Injuries have held him to just 50 games played, and he's batting .247 (34-for-174) with seven homers, 31 RBI, nine stolen bases and 23 runs scored in 186 plate appearances.

  • Harrison Bader Dealing With Rib Injury

    Headshot for Harrison Bader

Updating a previous report, New York Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader (rib) left the game early on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Angels with a left posterior rib contusion. Bader was hit in the ribs by a pitch in the sixth inning and had to leave. The good news is that the 29-year-old should be able to avoid another stint on the injured list, but he could still have to miss a few games, despite the Yankees having an off day on Thursday before starting a new series on Friday against the visiting Kansas City Royals. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. Bader has been disappointing in fantasy because of injuries the last two years, but he deserves to be rostered in most fantasy leagues because of his power/speed combination when healthy.

  • Harrison Bader Exits After Being Hit By Pitch

    Headshot for Harrison Bader

New York Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader (back) left the game early on Wednesday against the Los Angeles Angels after being hit by a pitch in the back in the top of the sixth inning. Isiah Kiner-Falefa took over for Bader in center field. Until we get an update on Bader's status, fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day. With an off day on Thursday, Bader could return to the lineup on Friday against the visiting Kansas City Royals if his injury is minor. The 29-year-old can't seem to catch a break with injuries over recent seasons, and he's played in 49 games in 2023 in his first full year in the Bronx. Bader went 0-for-2 with a strikeout in Wednesday's game before leaving to drop his season average to .243 with a .698 OPS.
