  • Harrison Bader Recovering Well

New York Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader (oblique) is "doing better than we anticipated," according to manager Aaron Boone. It's not a very detailed account by Boone, but that's to be expected with injuries, especially ones in their early stages, such as Bader's. Bader is said to be set to miss around six weeks with a left oblique strain, and this doesn't ensure the timeline has shortened any. Injuries have been a problem for Bader in his career, and another has cropped up in the early going of this year. Bader's timeline is late April or early May, so it won't cost him most of the season like last year when he played in just 86 games.

  • Latest On The Yankees' Shortstop Battle

As top prospect Anthony Volpe continues to make a strong case to win the Yankees’ starting shortstop job this spring, Andy Martino of SNY reports that the team are not close to making a decision on who’ll start there on Opening Day. Volpe, fellow youngster Oswald Peraza, Isiah Kiner-Falefa, and to a lesser extent Oswaldo…

  • Yankees Notes: Kiner-Falefa, Volpe, Trevino

Yankees infielder Isiah Kiner-Falefa has been at the center of plenty of speculation this spring. That’s both revolved around whether he’d hold onto the starting shortstop job with youngsters Oswald Peraza and Anthony Volpe on the horizon and whether he could be traded to an infield-needy team like the Dodgers or Rockies. Now, Kiner-Falefa’s role for the…

  • Harrison Bader Out Roughly Six Weeks

New York Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that outfielder Harrison Bader (oblique) will be out around six weeks due to a left oblique strain. Bader will begin the 2023 regular season on the injured list and won't make his debut until late April or early May. With the 28-year-old sidelined, the Yankees could use either Aaron Judge or Aaron Hicks to patrol center field, with Oswaldo Cabrera and Estevan Florial benefitting from more playing time in left field as a result. A foot injury limited Bader to 86 games with the Yankees and St. Louis Cardinals last year, and it wasn't until the postseason with the Yanks that he really started to swing a hot bat. Injuries continue to be an issue for him, and it will knock down his fantasy value in upcoming drafts.

  • Harrison Bader Diagnosed With Left Oblique Strain

New York Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader (oblique) has been diagnosed with a left oblique strain in spring training. Manager Aaron Boone said he doesn't have a timeline for Bader yet, but it's safe to assume that he'll start the season on the injured list. Oblique strains can take up to a month to recover from, so fantasy managers need to prepare for the possibility that the 28-year-old center fielder will miss at least several weeks in the season's first month. With Bader set to be sidelined to open up the 2023 campaign, look for Estevan Florial and Oswaldo Cabrera to see more playing time in the outfield for the Yankees. Both Aaron Judge and Aaron Hicks could shift over to center field to replace Bader while he's out.

  • Harrison Bader To Undergo Additional Testing

New York Yankees outfielder Harrison Bader (oblique) is set to undergo further testing after "feeling something" in his oblique on Wednesday. Hopefully, this is only the Yankees being extremely cautious with Bader. The 28-year-old might only end up missing a few games, assuming that the tests come back clean. Otherwise, Bader could very well begin the regular season on the injured list. That would be a shame considering Bader was looked upon as a possible breakout candidate for the 2023 season. Fantasy managers will have to check back after additional testing is done.
