  • Yuli Gurriel Steals Sixth Base Thursday

Houston Astros first baseman Yuli Gurriel went 1-for-3 with a run scored and his sixth stolen base of the season in Thursday's 4-2 win over the division-rival Seattle Mariners. His six stolen bases this year is a career-high after he swiped a combined six stolen bases in the last three seasons. Otherwise, the 38-year-old has been a bit of a disappointment with the bat for fantasy owners, slashing .238/.291/.390 with seven home runs, 27 RBI and 33 runs scored in 91 games for the first-place Astros. It comes after he hit a league-high .319 in 143 games in 2021. Gurriel has at least been better in July, going 21-for-76 (.276) with a homer, seven doubles, three steals and six RBI in 22 games.

  • Yuli Gurriel Sitting Out Wednesday's Game

Houston Astros first baseman Yuli Gurriel is not part of the starting lineup for Wednesday's game against the Kansas City Royals. Aledmys Diaz will be taking over at first base for the contest. After hitting a career-high .319last year, Gurriel has been extremely disappointing so far through 2022. He has a .227/.282/.390 slash line to go along with seven homers, 24 RBI and 29 runs. His .240 xBA doesn't inspire much confidence, nor does his .353 xSLG, which ranks in the bottom 8% of the league.

  • Yuli Gurriel Getting The Day Off

Houston Astros first baseman Yuli Gurriel is not in the starting lineup on Saturday against the New York Yankees. Gurriel's season-long slump continues, and he's hitting just .211 (15-for-71) with two homers and five RBI in 20 games in the month of June, so hopefully a day off will help clear his head. In his last 19 games, he has only two hits, with each coming in the last two games. Overall, the 38-year-old is slashing a disappointing .216/.268/.369 with five home runs, 18 RBI, 22 runs scored and three stolen bases in 254 plate appearances. Fantasy managers may want to keep him benched until he shows some improvement at the plate. J.J. Matijevic is starting at the cold corner and is hitting seventh on Saturday against Yankees right-hander Gerrit Cole.

  • Yuli Gurriel Hitless In His Last Three Games

Houston Astros first baseman Yuli Gurriel went hitless again in Monday's 5-1 victory over the Oakland Athletics. He hasn't recorded a hit in three straight games, going 0-for-10 during that span. That's been the story of the season for Gurriel, as he's hitting just .217 over 43 games. Fantasy managers haven't gotten production in any category, with the 37-year-old tallying three home runs, 15 runs, 13 RBI, and a pair of stolen bases. Gurriel's track record (.289 career batting average) makes him hard to part ways with, but if he keeps it up much longer, it's okay to cut him loose.

  • Michael Brantley, Yuli Gurriel Sitting On Thursday

Houston Astros outfielder Michael Brantley and first baseman Yuli Gurriel are both out of the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Texas Rangers. Chas McCormick will be covering left field with Aledmys Diaz at first base. Both Brantley and Gurriel have been heating up lately. Brantley is currently riding an eight-game hitting streak that's included four doubles and a home run. Gurriel, meanwhile, has recorded four multi-hit games over his last six outings, homering three times along that stretch.
