  • Andrew Benintendi Hitting Leadoff In Yankees Debut

New York Yankees outfielder Andrew Benintendi is starting in left field and is hitting leadoff on Thursday in his debut with the team against his former team, the Kansas City Royals, and right-hander Brady Singer. The Yanks landed Benintendi from the Royals on Wednesday night in exchange for minor league pitchers T.J. Sikkema, Beck Way and Chandler Champlain. The 28-year-old has hit .320/.387/.398, but fantasy managers would like some more power (only three home runs in 347 at-bats). The power and counting stats should improve the rest of the way in 2022 in a much stronger Yankees lineup, especially in the Bronx with the short porch in right field.

  • Yankees Finalizing Deal For Andrew Benintendi

The New York Yankees are finalizing a deal on Wednesday night to acquire outfielder Andrew Benintendi from the Kansas City Royals, according to sources. MLB Network's Jon Heyman is reporting that minor league pitchers Chandler Champlain, Beck Way and T.J. Sikkema are headed to the Royals in exchange for Benintendi. The 28-year-old Benintendi was an All-Star for the first time this year, and he's slashing .320/.387/.398 with three home runs, 39 RBI, 40 runs scored and four stolen bases on the season. He should be a regular in New York's outfield the rest of the way, and he'll be a boost with Giancarlo Stanton (Achilles) recently landing on the injured list. Benintendi's counting stats should receive a notable boost in the Bronx. Sikkema and Way were the Yankees' No. 19 and 20 prospects, respectively, per MLB Pipeline.

  • Yankees Seen As Serious Contenders For Andrew Benintendi

The New York Yankees have emerged as "serious contenders" to acquire Kansas City Royals outfielder Andrew Benintendi before the Aug. 2 trade deadline, according to a source. Benintendi's fantasy stock would definitely go way up with a move to the first-place Yankees with the short porch in right field at Yankee Stadium. The 28-year-old isn't vaccinated against COVID-19, which could become a problem if he's dealt to New York and then end up facing the Toronto Blue Jays in the postseason, but his vaccination status doesn't appear to be an issue for now. Benintendi doesn't have much power (only three home runs), but the first-time All-Star is hitting a solid .319/.389/.402 with 39 RBI, 37 runs scored and two stolen bases in 88 games for the Royals.

  • Yankees Unlikely To Continue Pursuing Andrew Benintendi

The New York Yankees are unlikely to continue their pursuit of Kansas City Royals outfielder Andrew Benintendi since he is unvaccinated. The Yankees have six games left in Toronto against the Blue Jays and could also meet them in the playoffs. New York is the one team to send their complete roster to play in Toronto since they are all vaccinated. Benintendi will be unavailable for the Royals four-game series in Canada, starting Thursday, because he's unvaccinated against COVID-19, so fantasy managers won't have him until the start of the second half of the season. The 28-year-old will be popular at the trade deadline this summer after hitting .317/.386/.401 with three home runs, 37 RBI, 37 runs scored and two stolen bases in the first half of action.

  • Royals To Be Without Whit Merrifield, Andrew Benintendi, Others

The Kansas City Royals will be without 10 players for their four-game series in Toronto against the Blue Jays, which begins on Thursday. Canada requires a COVID-19 vaccination to enter the country. The list of players the Royals will be without includes second baseman Whit Merrifield, first baseman Hunter Dozier, outfielders Michael Taylor, Andrew Benintendi and Kyle Isbel, catchers Cam Gallagher and MJ Melendez and right-handers Brad Keller, Brady Singer and Dylan Coleman. Merrifield, Dozier, Benintendi, Isbel and Melendez have been everyday players for KC, although Merrifield isn't expected to return until after the All-Star break due to a bone bruise in his big right toe. Keller and Singer are starting pitchers. After Wednesday's game, fantasy managers won't be able to use any of these Royals players until the second half of the season kicks off on July 22.

  • Blue Jays Interested In Andrew Benintendi

The Toronto Blue Jays and Kansas City Royals are potential trade partners ahead of the Aug. 2 MLB trade deadline, and Toronto is among the teams with interest in outfielder Andrew Benintendi. The Royals have appealing bullpen arms as well. The rebuilding Royals will be sellers this year, and Benintendi is perhaps their most valuable trade chip. The former Boston Red Sox outfielder only has three home runs on the year, but he's hitting .303/.368/.391 with 27 RBI, 28 runs scored and a stolen base in 304 plate appearances over 72 games in his second year with Kansas City. His counting stats would likely improve if he were traded to a contender like the Blue Jays, especially in the hitter-friendly environment at Rogers Centre.

  • Andrew Benintendi Suffers Knee Injury On Monday

Kansas City Royals outfielder Andrew Benintendi (knee) was removed from Monday's game against the Texas Rangers. He injured his knee while sliding on the base paths in the first inning. He was hobbling around after the incident, but remained in the game for the majority of the contest before being lifted in the eighth inning. After the game, Royals manager Mike Matheny stated that Benintendi should be fine going forward. Benintendi's late game removal was more about giving him extra rest prior to Tuesday's game.

  • Royals Exploring Andrew Benintendi Trades

With the Royals struggling, Andrew Benintendi has been seen as a logical trade candidate as the deadline approaches.  To this end, “the Royals are actively seeking a buyer for” the outfielder, The Boston Globe’s Peter Abraham writes. There isn’t any indication that a deal could be close, and it would be a little surprising to…

  • Andrew Benintendi Not Starting On Wednesday

Kansas City Royals outfielder Andrew Benintendi isn't starting on Wednesday against the San Francisco Giants and left-hander Sam Long. Benintendi is enjoying a productive season so far, batting .298 with a .365 on-base percentage and a pair of home runs in 252 plate appearances. Instead, it'll be Hunter Dozier hitting sixth and starting in left field in place of Benintendi against the Giants. Dozier is batting .265 with a .323 on-base percentage, six home runs, and a stolen base through 217 plate appearances this season. He could be worth a look as a streaming option for fantasy managers in deeper leagues.

  • Andrew Benintendi Returns To Lineup Tuesday

Kansas City Royals outfielder Andrew Benintendi (calf) is back in left field and is hitting in his usual No. 2 spot in the batting order on Tuesday against Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Alek Manoah. Benintendi didn't play on Monday while dealing with a tight calf, but he's back in there on Tuesday and should be returned to starting fantasy lineups. The 27-year-old has been dynamite for fantasy managers in 2020, hitting .321/.384/.415 with a .799 OPS, two home runs, 21 RBI and 17 runs scored in 216 plate appearances over 52 games in his second year with KC. Kyle Isbel will move over to center field on Tuesday and will drop to seventh in the lineup.

  • Andrew Benintendi Not Playing Monday

Kansas City Royals outfielder Andrew Benintendi (calf) is not in the starting lineup on Monday against the Toronto Blue Jays. Benintendi fouled a ball off his calf in the loss to the Houston Astros on Sunday and will take a seat a day later. For now, fantasy managers should consider the 27-year-old day-to-day. Make sure to remove him from your daily lineups. Benintendi has been having a fine season in his second year in KC, slashing .321/.384/.415 with two home runs, 21 RBI and 17 runs scored in 216 plate appearances over 52 games played. Kyle Isbel will get the nod in left field and will bat second on Monday against Jays right-hander Ross Stripling. Isbel is hitting .258 (17-for-66) and is still looking for his first home run in his 26th game of the year.
