German Marquez Making Debut Saturday
Colorado Rockies right-hander German Marquez (hamstring) is slated to make his spring debut on Saturday against the Seattle Mariners. The 28-year-old suffered a minor hamstring injury during conditioning, which caused him to withdraw from the World Baseball Classic. He recently threw a two-inning bullpen session and is ready to make his debut. Marquez is probably the most appealing fantasy pitcher out of the Rockies rotation, but he will only be an option in deeper leagues. Marquez shaped a 4.95 ERA with a 1.365 WHIP and 150 strikeouts in 2022. He pitched 181 2/3 innings and made 31 starts with a 19.3% strikeout rate. The right-hander could be moved at the trade deadline if he continues to impress at hitter-friendly Coors Field.

German Marquez Throws Live BP Tuesday
Colorado Rockies right-hander German Marquez (hamstring) threw a two-inning live batting practice session on Tuesday, and his next action will be in a Cactus League game in a few days. Marquez is a bit behind the other pitchers in camp while dealing with left hamstring soreness, but he's coming along nicely now and will have plenty of time to get ready for Opening Day at the end of March. The 28-year-old is probably the most attractive fantasy starter for the Rockies, but that isn't saying much. At best, he's probably a streaming option away from Coors Field in deeper leagues. He went 9-13 in 31 starts last year, posting a 4.95 ERA (4.71 FIP), 1.36 WHIP and weak 19.3 percent strikeout rate in 181 2/3 innings for the Rockies.

German Marquez Set For Live BP Session Saturday
Colorado Rockies right-hander German Marquez (hamstring) is scheduled to throw a live batting practice session on Saturday. Marquez is taking things slow early in spring training after coming into camp dealing with a sore left hamstring. It's not a serious issue, so the 28-year-old should be just fine for Opening Day, barring a setback in camp. The expectation is that Marquez won't be ready for Cactus League action for at least another week, but he still has plenty of time to build up his pitch count. He's the most attractive Rockies starter in fantasy, but it doesn't mean he's all that sexy. In 2022, Marquez allowed too many home runs and saw a drop in his strikeout rate as well. Fantasy managers should really only consider Marquez as a streamer on the road in deeper leagues.

German Marquez Tests Hamstring Sunday
Colorado Rockies starting pitcher German Marquez (hamstring) tested his sore left hamstring during a bullpen session at spring training on Sunday. Marquez was forced to pull out of the 2023 World Baseball Classic for Team Venezuela because of the injury, but there are no indications that it will cause him to miss the start of the regular season, barring a setback. Don't be surprised if the 27-year-old right-hander is held back in Cactus League games initially in camp. It's hard to get behind Rockies pitchers in fantasy, and Marquez is no different after he had a 4.95 ERA (4.71 FIP), 1.36 WHIP and 19.3 percent strikeout rate in 31 starts and 181 2/3 innings last year. He's currently listed as RotoBaller's No. 125-ranked fantasy starter.

Injury Notes: Marquez, Kopech, White
German Marquez suffered a left hamstring injury during conditioning drills, though Rockies manager Bud Black told The Denver Post’s Patrick Saunders and other reporters that Marquez was able to do some light running on Friday and play catch. The injury seems minor enough that Marquez expressed hope that he could still pitch for his native…
