  • Josh Hader Records Second Save Against Padres

Milwaukee Brewers closer Josh Hader pitched a clean ninth inning, as he allowed a walk but struck out one and didn't allow any hits while picking up his second save of the year in a 3-1 win over the Padres on Monday. Hader's only blemish in the inning was surrendering a walk to Fernando Tatis to give the Padres a slim chance to potentially make some noise with Manny Machado and Eric Hosmer following him up in the order. However, the hard-throwing left-hander closed the door on the game and continued his stellar start to the season with 4 2/3 scoreless innings and a 9:2 K: BB.

  • Josh Hader Closes Door On Cubs For First Save

Milwaukee Brewers closer Josh Hader recorded his first save of the season after tossing a scoreless outing. He recorded a strikeout in two-thirds of an inning. Hader was called upon duty when the Cubs scored two runs off Drew Rasmussen in the top of the ninth. However, he closed the door after recording the final two outs in dominant fashion since he tossed five of his six pitches for strikes. The lefty reliever has yet to allow a run in three appearances this season, striking out six and walking out through 2 2/3 innings this year. He's an elite relief pitcher with massive strikeout ability. There is no reason why Hader shouldn't be one of the top fantasy closers this season.

  • Josh Hader Gets Credit For Win Against Cubs

Milwaukee Brewers closer Josh Hader (2-0) walked one and struck out two over one inning to earn the extra-inning win Wednesday versus the Cubs. Hader pitched a scoreless ninth inning and was in line for the win after Lorenzo Cain's three-run homer put the Brewers ahead in the 10th. J.P. Feyereisen and Brad Boxberger upheld the lead to give Hader the win. The Brewers' primary closer hasn't gotten a save chance yet, but Hader has allowed just one baserunner while striking out five in his two innings of work this year. He's an elite option in all league formats going forward.

  • Josh Hader Secures Save In Extra Innings

Milwaukee Brewers closer Josh Hader secured the save in Thursday's extra-inning win over the Twins. He tossed a perfect inning while striking out the three batters he faced. Hader was absolutely dominant when called upon in the season opener, tossing nine of his 11 pitches for strikes and fanning the three batters he faced. Hader went 13-for-15 in save opportunities last season and should be one of the league's elite closers once again in 2021. Hader simply has been nearly unhittable over the past few seasons and his strikeout ability make him one of the most elite relief pitchers in the majors.

  • Josh Hader To Serve As Traditional Closer In 2021

Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Josh Hader will serve as a traditional closer for his team during the 2021 season, per manager Craig Counsell. Hader will be locked into the ninth-inning- with Devin Williams in front of him- a role that should be great news for his fantasy value. The 26-year-old has compiled 50 saves with a 2.85 ERA in 94.2 innings over the last two seasons combined. Hader is reportedly working on permanently adding a changeup to his arsenal, which would bode well for his chances of keeping hitters off-balance and increasing that strikeout rate, given he normally relies on the fastball-slider combo for nearly 100 percent of his pitches. He should be one of the top-two closers off the board in drafts.

  • Josh Hader Sharp On Monday Against Cleveland

Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Josh Hader looked sharp on Monday against the Indians. Hader pitched a scoreless inning, striking out a pair of batters while allowing just one hit. The 26-year-old had a rough start to the spring- he allowed two home runs in his first outing- though he has yet to allow a run since in four innings while fanning eight batters against just two walks. Hader had a down season in 2020, as his strikeout rate declined and his walk rate increased, ultimately resulting in the highest ERA of his career. His 3.02 expected ERA suggests he should have fared slightly better in that department- and he is just one year removed from a 37-save season. Fantasy managers should expect him to be a top-three closer in 2021, which would warrant his 58 ADP.

  • Josh Hader Hit Hard In Spring Debut

Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Josh Hader made his spring debut on Wednesday against the Oakland Athletics and had an outing to forget. He pitched just 2/3 of an inning and allowed two home runs as well as a walk. He also recorded two strikeouts. After the game, Hader said that he had been working on his off-speed pitches in the game. These pitches weren't finding the zone or fooling batters, which led to him getting behind in counts. Hader is one of the league's best relievers and should be one of the first closers off the board in all fantasy drafts. Last year, he converted 13 of 15 save opportunities and posted a 3.79 ERA and 0.947 WHIP while averaging 14.7 K/9.

  • Brewers Still Listening On Josh Hader

The Milwaukee Brewers continue to listen to trade inquiries on relief pitcher Josh Hader, according to league sources. However, the asking price is "overwhelming" for Hader, who the Brewers believe is the best left-handed reliever in baseball. The two-time All-Star wasn't quite as dominant in 2020 during the COVID-19 shortened season due to a spike in walk rate and a slight drop in his strikeout rate, as he posted a career-high 3.79 ERA, but he still managed a 0.94 WHIP, 14.7 K/9 and a National League-leading 13 saves in 21 appearances over 19 innings. Hader's hiccups came during a few bad outings, skewing his final numbers in a smaller sample size. The hard-throwing southpaw should remain the top fantasy closer off the board in this year's drafts, with an ADP of 61.
