Carlos Rodon Aims To Build On Encouraging Run

The New York Yankees, winners of eight out of their last nine games, look to complete consecutive series sweeps when starting pitcher Carlos Rodon takes the bump for Thursday's start versus the Detroit Tigers. While it's been a mostly poor year for the 30-year-old, he has shown signs of life lately with a 2.87 ERA (5.37 FIP) with 12 strikeouts in his last three starts (15.2 innings pitched) off the second injured list stint of his 2023. Rodon has declawed the Tigers for a 1.86 ERA and 41 punchouts in 29 IP (five starts) against Detroit since 2021. It's a short Thursday slate as usual, and the hard-throwing southpaw represents a tempting DFS pivot off the pricier SP options considering the matchup.

New York Yankees left-hander Carlos Rodon (hamstring) is scheduled to return from the 15-day injured list to start on Tuesday against the Washington Nationals, according to manager Aaron Boone. Right-hander Luis Severino will go on Wednesday. Rodon will return from a minor left-hamstring strain after throwing a five-inning simulated game on Wednesday. The 30-year-old southpaw has been a big fantasy bust in 2023 in his first year in the Bronx, as he's made only six starts due to injuries and sports an elevated 7.33 ERA, 1.52 WHIP and 25 strikeouts in 27 innings pitched. Still, he should remain rostered in all fantasy leagues and has a nice matchup upcoming in his first start back next week.

New York Yankees starting pitcher Carlos Rodon (hamstring) is expected to return to the rotation on Tuesday versus the Washington Nationals. The 30-year-old tossed a five-inning simulated game on Wednesday and the Yankees came away pleased with the results. As long as Rodon doesn't suffer any setbacks with his left hamstring, the southpaw should be activated from the 15-day injured when first eligible on Aug. 22. New York's prized free-agent acquisition missed the season's initial three months with forearm and back issues, but he'll have a chance to salvage what's been a lost season thus far. Rodon would come back to 7.33 ERA (7.37 FIP), 1.52 WHIP, and 25:18 K:BB in 27 innings over six starts this year.

New York Yankees left-hander Carlos Rodon (hamstring) had a two-up bullpen session that went well on Saturday, according to manager Aaron Boone. Rodon will now head to Tampa from Miami and will throw a simulated game next week. Boone is hoping to get Rodon back from the injured list as soon as he's eligible to return on Aug. 22. Despite the 30-year-old southpaw's disappointing first season in the Bronx, he needs to remain stashed in all fantasy leagues for the stretch run. The left-hander wasn't even able to pitch a full three innings before exiting due to a left hamstring issue. This is obviously discouraging considering this was only his sixth start of the season. Carlos Rodon Looks For Consistency Versus Astros

New York Yankees starting pitcher Carlos Rodon takes the mound for Sunday's start versus the Houston Astros. It's been a rough start for New York's prized free-agent acquisition, who owns a 6.29 ERA and 1.48 WHIP over 24.1 innings since being activated off the 60-day injured list on July 7 due to a left forearm strain. Rodon doesn't seem to be in the best spot on Sunday for a rebound, but he has actually thrown for at least six innings while giving up two runs or fewer in each of his seven career starts against Houston. It amounts to a career 1.55 ERA in 46.1 frames opposing the Astros since 2015. Season-long fantasy managers might be weary of starting the southpaw for this one, but at least Rodon has thoroughly flourished vs. the Stros in the past.

Carlos Rodon Activated, Nestor Cortes Moved To 60-Day IL

The New York Yankees officially activated left-hander Carlos Rodon (back) from the 60-day injured list on Friday and transferred left-hander Nestor Cortes (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list in a corresponding move. An All-Star the last two years with the San Francisco Giants, Rodon is a fantasy ace when healthy and could push fantasy squads over the top in the second half of the season if he can stay on the field. The 28-year-old southpaw will face live hitters this weekend and may not be far from a minor-league rehab assignment.

Carlos Rodon Set To Make Debut On July 7

New York Yankees starting pitcher Carlos Rodon (back) is set to make his season debut on July 7 against the Chicago Cubs. Rodon made another rehab start on Saturday and performed well, per manager Aaron Boone. The 30-year-old lefty has been out all season with a forearm and back issues but it looks like he's ready to get one start in before the All-Star break. Rodon was excellent in 2022, putting up a sparkling 2.88 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, and 237:52 K/BB ratio over 178 innings (31 starts) with the San Francisco Giants. Fantasy managers will need to clear up a spot on their rosters for Rodon's long-awaited activation.
