  • Projected Arbitration Salaries For 2024

    Headshot for Albert Abreu

Matt Swartz has created a model to project salaries for arbitration eligible players, which we've been publishing at MLB Trade Rumors for 13 years. In the baseball industry, teams and agents determine arbitration salaries by identifying comparable players. To project the entire arbitration class in this way would take a massive amount of time and…

  • J.D. Davis Placed On 10-Day Injured List

    Headshot for J.D. Davis

The San Francisco Giants placed third baseman J.D. Davis (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to Sept. 27) on Thursday with a left-shoulder strain. Davis injured his shoulder earlier this week during a slide against the San Diego Padres and will now end up missing the rest of the regular season, which concludes this Sunday. In his first full year in San Francisco in 2023, the 30-year-old former Met hit .248/.325/.413 with 18 home runs, 23 doubles, a triple, 69 RBI, one stolen base and 61 runs scored in 144 games and 546 plate appearances. He hit .262 (16-for-61) with three homers, five doubles, nine RBI and 10 runs scored in 20 games (17 starts) in the final month of the season.

  • J.D. Davis Suffers Shoulder Strain Tuesday

    Headshot for J.D. Davis

San Francisco Giants third baseman J.D. Davis (shoulder) suffered a left-shoulder strain in Tuesday night's loss to the San Diego Padres, according to the team. Before departing the contest, Davis had a double in his only at-bat. He was replaced at third base by Tyler Fitzgerald. Davis injured himself during a slide into third base in the first inning. With less than a week left to play in the 2023 regular season, there's a good chance the 30-year-old has played his last game of the year. Wilmer Flores (knee) is also hobbled, so if Davis cannot return this year, Fitzgerald would likely see the majority of playing time at the hot corner through Sunday's season finale. Davis entered Tuesday's contest hitting .246 (118-for-479) with 18 home runs, 22 doubles, a triple, 69 RBI and 61 runs scored in 143 games in his first full year with the Gigantes.

  • J.D. Davis Returning For Crucial Contest Wednesday

    Headshot for J.D. Davis

San Francisco Giants third baseman J.D. Davis is back in the starting lineup for a crucial game Wednesday afternoon versus the Arizona Diamondbacks and right-hander Merrill Kelly. The Giants sit three games back of the final Wild Card spot in the National League while the D-backs currently occupy the second Wild Card spot in the senior circuit. The 30-year-old Davis didn't start Tuesday's 8-4 loss but did go hitless in a pinch-hitting appearance. He enters Wednesday's contest hitting .252 with 18 home runs, one stolen base, and a .750 OPS across 137 appearances on the season. He has a tough matchup on tap against Kelly who sports a healthy 3.45 ERA across his 27 starts on the campaign.

  • J.D. Davis Scores Three Times Sunday

    Headshot for J.D. Davis

San Francisco Giants third baseman J.D. Davis collected a pair of singles on Sunday over four at-bats. He drove in one and scored thrice to help his club defeat the Colorado Rockies 11-10. Davis has found decent success during his first full campaign in California, as he's slashed .250/.327/.421 with 18 bombs, 58 runs, 68 RBI, and one stolen base over 135 games. The 30-year-old isn't a league winner, but he can provide some value in four categories as a deep league option.
