  • Yoan Moncada Hits Ninth Home Run

Chicago White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada went 3-for-5 with two runs and a solo home run in Friday's victory versus the Cleveland Indians. Moncada caught a break in the bottom of the second inning when Indians outfielders Bradley Zimmer and Daniel Johnson collided going for a pop fly and the ball would wind up over the wall for a solo home run after a few bounces. Moncada entered the game with three hits over his last 27 at-bats, but hopefully tonight's performance is what he needs to get back on track. Moncada is now hitting .270 with nine homers and 46 RBI.

Chicago White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada continued his struggles at the plate on Thursday, finishing 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in a 5-0 loss to the Royals. Moncada has now gone hitless in three straight games, and is slashing .111/.143/.148 over his last seven games. He'll hope to turn things around at the plate and break out of this slump when the White Sox return to Chicago on Friday night.

Chicago White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada went 1-for-3 with a solo home run versus the Minnesota Twins in Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader. Moncada has been warming up again and has hit safely in five straight games with two home runs during that span. Moncada hasn't shown much power this season, but he has been a productive third baseman for managers and is hitting in the middle of a good White Sox offense. • Yoan Moncada, Yasmani Grandal Could Return By Monday

Chicago White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada (hand) and catcher Yasmani Grandal (calf) could both return to the lineup on Monday, according to James Fegan of The Athletic. Grandal exited Friday's game due to right calf tightness, and was then held out of the lineup on Saturday and Sunday, while Moncada last played on Thursday as he has dealt with a bruised right hand. Manager Tony La Russa said that Moncada was taking batting practice prior to Sunday's game, and Grandal reported on Saturday that he was feeling fine and that he was being held out as a precaution. This is good news for the White Sox and for fantasy managers, as managers should anticipate having both return to action tomorrow. Make sure to slot them back into the lineup as soon as they're healthy.

  • Leury Garcia Returns Saturday, Yoan Moncada Remains Out

Chicago White Sox outfielder Leury Garcia (knee) is back in the starting lineup on Saturday against the Detroit Tigers, but third baseman Yoan Moncada (hand) remains out. Garcia was scratched on Thursday with knee pain and also sat out on Friday. Moncada suffered a bruised right hand on a slide this week and is not expected to play at all this holiday weekend. Garcia is in right field and is hitting fifth, while rookie Jake Burger gets the nod at third base and is batting sixth against Tigers left-hander Tarik Skubal. The switch-hitting Garcia provides very little DFS upside with just a homer, 28 RBI and two steals on the season. Burger went 2-for-4 with a double in his major league debut on Friday and is worth a flier in deep mixed and AL-only leagues, especially if Moncada winds up on the injured list.

  • Yoan Moncada Possibly Out All Weekend

Chicago White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada (hand) is expected to miss the team's weekend series against the Detroit Tigers, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reported. Andrew Vaughn came in from the outfield to replace Moncada, but there's no word yet on if he will remain at third base if Moncada is out multiple games. Vaughn went 2-for-3 with one run scored against the Twins on Thursday.

  • Yoan Moncada Rolls Ankle In Friday's Loss To Seattle

Chicago White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada rolled his left ankle ducking out of the way of a pitch during Friday's loss to the Mariners. The 26-year-old received treatment after the game and he will be examined again ahead of Saturday's contest. Moncada is slashing .278/.403/.398 with five home runs, 35 RBI, 31 runs scored, and two stolen bases across 295 plate appearances in 2021. Leury Garcia would handle third base duties if Moncada misses any time, but is mainly an option in deep-league formats. Moncada is considered day-to-day and fantasy managers should check back on Saturday to ensure the White Sox third baseman is in the starting lineup.

  • Yoan Moncada Will Miss Second Straight Game With Illness

Chicago White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada (illness) will miss his second straight game with a cold and congestion on Tuesday versus the Tampa Bay Rays. With Moncada sidelined, infielder/outfielder Leury Garcia will play third base and bat seventh versus Shane McClanahan. Garcia doesn't offer much upside as a long term play, but he has hit .300 over the past two weeks with seven RBI and should see regular at-bats with second baseman Nick Madrigal (hamstring) undergoing season-ending surgery on Tuesday.

Moncada got off to a slow start, but he has been trending in the right direction over the last couple of weeks and his buy low window should officially be shut. • Yoan Moncada Has Been An On-Base Machine

Chicago White Sox third baseman Yoan Moncada has been unstoppable when it comes to getting on base this year. Over his last fifteen games, Moncada has an OBP of .521 with 17 walks in 63 plate appearances. Fantasy managers may be frustrated that the switch-hitter has only come up with three homers on the season, but his expected slugging percentage of .481 suggests some positive regression is in the offing. Even if it takes a while for the power numbers to come around, his walk rate of 16.7 percent is in the 97th percentile in the major leagues, giving him a very safe floor in the meantime. Fantasy managers should be thrilled with Moncada's improved patience at the dish, and should either hold or look to buy. Even better days are ahead.
