  • Ryan McMahon Swats Sixth Home Run Of The Year

Colorado Rockies second baseman Ryan McMahon went 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, and two runs scored in a 7-5 loss to the Dodgers on Thursday. McMahon put the Rockies on the board in the top of the first inning when he pulled a Julio Urias curveball for his sixth home run of the season. He would tack on a double later in the game as well. The 26-year-old is in the midst of a breakout season and is tied for second in MLB with six home runs. He's slashing .306/.320/.755 with six home runs and 10 RBI. He's struck out eight times to just one walk but fantasy managers can live with that as long as he continues to crush the ball.

  • Ryan McMahon Stays Hot, Blasts Fifth Home Run On Saturday

Colorado Rockies second baseman Ryan McMahon went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and two strikeouts in a 4-3 loss to the San Francisco Giants on Saturday. McMahon took San Francisco starter Logan Webb deep in the top of the fifth inning to give the Rockies a 3-1 advantage. He also picked up a single in the game and struck out twice. The 26-year-old is now tied with Tyler Naquin for the Major League lead with five home runs. He's off to a phenomenal start this season with a .333/.353/.848 batting line to go along with the five home runs and nine RBI across 33 at-bats. Fantasy managers also have to be pleased that he's started 8-of-9 games and should continue to see everyday plate appearances as long as he's swinging a hot bat.

  • Ryan McMahon Has Monster Game On Tuesday

Colorado Rockies INF Ryan McMahon had a huge game on Tuesday, going 4-for-6 with three home runs, a double, three runs scored, and four RBI in the D-Backs 10-8 extra-innings victory. McMahon started the game at third base and put the Rockies on the board with a solo tater off Luke Weaver in the bottom of the second inning. He would take Weaver deep again in the bottom of the fourth and then parked his third home run of the night off Alex Young in the seventh inning. He was already having an amazing performance but decided to tack on an RBI double in the bottom of the 13th inning for good measure. The Rockies would still go on to lose 10-8. The 26-year-old has now started four of five games to begin the season and is slashing a ridiculous .444/.444/.1.222 with four home runs and seven RBI. He'll look to stay hot through the rest of the Arizona series.

  • Ryan McMahon Blasts Three Home Runs On Tuesday

Colorado Rockies second baseman/third baseman Ryan McMahon had a monster day on Tuesday against the Arizona Diamondbacks. McMahon went 4-for-6 with three home runs, a double and four RBI. He is off to a scorching start to the year with hits in each game he's started and multiple hits in three of his five starts. He's slashing .444/.444/1.222 through 18 at-bats. McMahon has been an inconsistent hitter throughout his four-plus years with the Rockies. This monstrous start to the season is likely nothing more than a hot streak, but if he's available in your league, he's worth adding to see how long the streak lasts.

  • Ryan McMahon Goes 2-For-4 With A Home Run

Colorado Rockies second baseman Ryan McMahon went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and a strikeout in Friday's 11-6 loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers. McMahon started at second base and was batting sixth after riding the pine on Opening Day against the left-handed Clayton Kershaw. He smacked a two-run shot off Trevor Bauer in the bottom of the seventh, part of a six-run inning for Colorado. He tacked on a single later in the game as well. The 26-year-old has a rough 2020 season when he hit just .215 with a .715 OPS and a brutal 66:18 K/BB ratio over 52 games. He swings and misses a lot but he's got a safe floor for power taking half of his at-bats in Coors Field. He should see regular at-bats at second base for as long as Brendan Rodgers is out.

  • Ryan McMahon Not In Rockies Lineup Thursday

Colorado Rockies second baseman Ryan McMahon is not in the Opening Day lineup Thursday against the Dodgers. McMahon is expected to get an increase in playing time early on following Brendan Rodgers' injury, and he has gotten off to a good start in spring with a .250/.318/.433 triple-slash line with three home runs and eight RBI in 22 games. Chris Owings will get the start at second base instead, and will be batting seventh against Clayton Kershaw. Owings' value in any format will be very limited.

  • Ryan McMahon Goes Yard On Monday

Colorado Rockies second baseman Ryan McMahon went 3-for-3 at the dish and bopped a solo home run on Monday vs. the Texas Rangers. McMahon took Rangers' starter Dane Dunning deep in the first inning for his third home run of the spring. He chipped in a pair of singles later in the game as well. The 26-year-old is having a decent Cactus League up to this point with a .250/.318/.500 batting line to go along with three home runs and seven RBI across 40 at-bats. Most importantly, McMahon has been getting a lot of work at second base in the wake of the Brendan Rodgers injury. He was originally slated to move over to third base after Nolan Arenado was traded but it appears he'll get a fair amount of work at second, at least until Rodgers returns. He's taken the majority of his spring at-bats in the number two hole as well, which bodes well for his production prospects. McMahon has power upside but he's a liability in batting average and on-base percentage. He's coming off a disappointing 2020 when he hit just .215/.295/.419 with nine home runs, 26 RBI, and a whopping 66 strikeouts in 52 games. He should have multi-position eligibility and is capable of smashing 25-30 home runs so there is some late-round appeal here if you can stomach the poor rate stats.

  • Ryan McMahon Could Return To 2019 Prominence

Colorado Rockies infielder Ryan McMahon took a step back in 2020 (.215/.295/.419 in 52 games) after hitting 24 home runs in 141 games in 2019, but he has the tools to return to prominence from a power perspective this season. He has a 46.2 percent hard-hit rate since 2018, including a 43 percent mark in 2020 and 48 percent in 2019. The 26-year-old left-handed swinger saw his strikeout rate rise from 29.7 percent in 2019 to 34.2 percent in 2020, but if he can find a way to put the ball in play more often, he should be able to capitalize on the Coors Field environment and give his fantasy managers plenty of home runs. With Nolan Arenado now in St. Louis, McMahon figures to slide over to the hot corner and add third base to his positional eligibility as well. Target him as a infield utility sleeper for his power in deep mixed leagues.
