  • Mitch Garver Activated From Injured List Thursday

The Texas Rangers activated catcher/first baseman Mitch Garver (elbow) from the 10-day injured list ahead of Thursday night's game against the Houston Astros. Outfielder Nick Solak was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move. Garver has been hampered by a right elbow injury and he has still yet to fully heal. He will be strictly used as a designated hitter for the time being as he hasn't been cleared to start throwing the ball. Jonah Heim will remain the team's starting catcher with Sam Huff as the backup. Over 22 games so far this year, Garver is slashing .205/.292/.346 with three home runs, eight RBI and seven runs.

  • Mitch Garver To Be Strictly DH Upon Return

Texas Rangers catcher/designated hitter Mitch Garver (elbow) was sent out on a rehab assignment at Double-A Frisco on Tuesday. He will be exclusively serving as designated hitter during his rehab assignment and he will have that same role when he returns to the Rangers. Garver is dealing with a right elbow injury and he still isn't throwing the ball, so he can't play either catcher or first base for now. It's still unclear at this point exactly when he'll be back with the Rangers, but it sounds as if his return is close. The 31-year-old is slashing .205/.292/.346 with three home runs, eight RBI and seven runs over 22 games on the year.

  • Mitch Garver To Begin Rehab In Double-A Tuesday

Texas Rangers catcher Mitch Garver (elbow) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Frisco on Tuesday. Garver injured his elbow last week and there was initially some speculation that it was a serious injury but he seems to have avoided a lengthy stay on the sidelines. For now, Garver is slated to serve as the DH for Frisco on Tuesday and it is unclear whether he will be catching at any point. Garver is hitting .205 with three homers, seven runs, and eight RBI over 78 at-bats in 2022.

  • Mitch Garver Lands On Injured List

Texas Rangers catcher Mitch Garver was placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday with a flexor sprain. In a corresponding move, the Rangers recalled catcher Sam Huff from Triple-A Round Rock. Garver was out of the lineup the last two games, and now he'll miss at least the next 10 days. The 31-year-old veteran backstop was hitting just .205 with three home runs and eight RBI in his first 89 plate appearances for Texas. While he won't hit for a high average, there is some pop there, but fantasy managers shouldn't expect a repeat of his 31-homer campaign in 2019. With Garver on the shelf for at least the next 10 days, Jonah Heim will serve as the starting backstop, with Huff backing him up.

  • Mitch Garver Blasts Two-Run Homer In Tuesday's Win

Texas Rangers catcher Mitch Garver went 1-for-4 with a two-run homer in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. He took Ranger Suarez deep in the first inning for his third long ball of the season. He's off to a slow start at the plate with his new team. The 31-year-old is slashing .183/.272/.310 with three homers and eight RBI across 81 plate appearances in 2022. Garver has elite power and mashed 31 homers for the Twins in 2019. Fantasy managers should continue to stick with Garver in most league formats. The Rangers slugger should turn things around after his rough start and is expected to see close to everyday at-bats between catcher/designated hitter this season.

  • Mitch Garver Absent From Saturday's Lineup

Texas Rangers catcher Mitch Garver is not in Saturday's lineup against the Toronto Blue Jays. After a monster performance in Friday's 10-8 loss, he will get a routine day off. The 31-year-old went 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk, two RBI, and two runs scored. Fantasy managers with daily moves should remove Garver from their starting lineups. Jonah Heim is batting ninth and will handle catching duties for Saturday's game.

  • Mitch Garver Homers In Rangers Debut

Texas Rangers catcher Mitch Garver had a strong debut for the team on Opening Day on Friday. The 31-year-old veteran went 2-for-4 with a home run, a walk, two RBI and two runs scored. He hit cleanup in the game, batting right behind two other recent additions to the team, Marcus Semien and Corey Seager. If Garver can stick in that No. 4 spot throughout the bulk of the season, he could be in store for a big year. The veteran hit 31 home runs over just 93 games back in 2019, but has struggled with injuries and inconsistent playing time since.

  • Rangers Acquire Mitch Garver From Twins

The Texas Rangers acquired catcher Mitch Garver from the Minnesota Twins on Saturday in exchange for shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa and an unnamed prospect. Garver will be the team's new starting catcher in 2022, which those investing in Jonah Heim stock won't be too thrilled about. Garver broke out in 2019 with 31 home runs and 67 RBI in 359 plate appearances over 93 games, but he played in only 23 games in the shortened 2020 season and hit a putrid .167 with two long balls and five RBI. The 31-year-old backstop couldn't stay healthy in 2021 and hit .256/.358/.517 with 13 homers and 34 RBI in 68 games. RotoBaller currently has Garver ranked as the No. 11 fantasy catcher, but his ADP is surely to rise a bit with the move to a much more powerful lineup in Texas.
