  • Matt Olson Crushes 51st Home Run Tuesday

    Headshot for Matt Olson

Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson continued to build on his league-leading home run totals in Tuesday's 7-6 extra-innings win over the Phillies. Olson went 2-for-4 with a single, a solo home run, a walk, and a strikeout. The 29-year-old is having a career season, slashing .281/.388/.619 with 51 HR and 128 RBI. Elite power has never been an issue for Olson, but if he can maintain his batting average gains then he can vault himself into a top-tier fantasy spot next season.

The 29-year-old has had a phenomenal season and now has seven multi-homer outings. With 436 trips to the plate, Olson leads the majors with 105 runs batted in.

  • Matt Olson Smacks 40th Home Run In Braves Loss

    Headshot for Matt Olson

Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson cracked his 40th home run of the season, losing to the Pittsburgh Pirates 7-5 Thursday. Olson is now tied with Shohei Ohtani for the league lead in home runs. He has surpassed his career high of 39 in 2021. The most homers a Braves player has hit in a season was in 2005 when AndruwJones smacked 51. At 29 years old, Olson is having another fantastic season hitting .267/.375/.979 with 101 RBI in 427 at-bats.

  • Matt Olson Surging Again, Supplies Offense In Loss

    Headshot for Matt Olson

Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson went 2-for-2 with a solo home run and two walks in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Los Angeles Angels. The 29-year-old led off the second inning with a single before clubbing a fifth-inning leadoff homer to put Atlanta on the board. Olson was intentionally walked in the sixth frame before drawing a ninth-inning free pass in an effort to start a rally, but the next three Braves would be retired. The slugger's bat is catching fire again just when it seemed Olson was starting to cool a bit; he's now whacked four big flies (nine RBI) in as many games since July 28. Since Olson's initial warpath began on June 17, he's hitting .333 with 17 blasts and 43 RBI in 129 at-bats across 33 games in this span. Overall, the 2023 All-Star is hitting .263 with an NL-high .593 SLG and 36 bombs to go with an MLB-high 89 RBI over 396 ABs.

  • Matt Olson Adds Two More Homers To Sizzling Run In Win

    Headshot for Matt Olson

Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson went 2-for-4 with two home runs and three RBI in Thursday's 7-5 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks. The 29-year-old took Zac Gallen yard for a two-run blast in the seventh inning before rudely greeting Miguel Castro with a solo shot during the eighth frame for an insurance run. Over his last 25 games, Olson is batting a scorching .337 with 13 homers, 34 RBI and 26 runs scored in 98 at-bats. The 2023 All-Star looks to stay red-hot while slashing .258/.363/.581 with an NL-high 32 long balls and 80 RBI, and one stolen base (365 ABs) heading into a three-game weekend set against the Milwaukee Brewers.

  • Matt Olson Looks To Extend National League Home Run Lead

    Headshot for Matt Olson

Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson, who is currently leading the National League in home runs with 29, is looking to extend his lead as the second half of the season kicks off on Friday. Olson has strung together a ridiculous first half of the year, slashing .254/.358/.569 with 29 home runs, 72 RBI, and one stolen base over 343 at-bats. His power has been prodigious up to this point, smashing at least eight home runs in every month (except July) while notching four multi-homer contests. He was white-hot at the dish in the last 15 games before the All-Star break as well, with a .367/.424/.883 batting line to go along with eight home runs and 20 RBI over 60 at-bats. The 29-year-old slugger is second to only Shohei Ohtani, who has 32 home runs, for the MLB lead. There's no reason to think Olson's power surge will slow down, either, as the Braves host the Chicago White Sox for a three-game set starting on Friday. Chicago's probably starters are Michael Kopech, Lance Lynn, and Dylan Cease, who are all right-handed pitchers. Olson has hit 25 of his 29 home runs off right-handed pitching this season.

  • Matt Olson Keeps Raking, Goes Deep Twice

    Headshot for Matt Olson

Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson went 4-for-5 with two home runs, five RBI, four runs scored, and a triple in Friday's 16-4 blowout win versus the Miami Marlins. The 29-year-old is on some kind of run right now. Since receiving what seemed to be a relegation out of the lineup's two-hole on June 15, Olson is hitting .333 with an astounding 10 homers and 22 RBI over 54 at-bats for a roaring stretch. The former All-Star is giving Shohei Ohtani a run for his money as MLB's home run leader, now up to an NL-high 28 big flies on the year. As Ohtani continues to grab headlines, Olson made a bit of history of his own in this one by breaking Hank Aaron's Braves franchise record for most homers through 81 games.
