  • Matt Olson Snaps Home Run Drought

    Headshot for Matt Olson

Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson homered during Friday's 4-2 win over the New York Mets, snapping a stretch that saw the All-Star go 26 straight games without going deep. Olson had not homered since he went deep off Diamondbacks hurler Ryne Nelson in the second inning of a 5-2 win over Arizona on April 7. The home run, just Olson's fourth of the season, was only the fifth hit he had recorded in the month of May, entering Friday's game with a .190/.290/.190 slash line in 21 at-bats prior to Friday. Despite his recent struggles, Olson remains a must-start in all league formats. Overall, the 30-year-old slugger is slashing .202/.311/.372 with four home runs, 18 RBI, and 16 runs across 151 plate appearances in 2024.

  • Matt Olson Strikes Out Four Times On Sunday

    Headshot for Matt Olson

Atlanta Braves first basemen Matt Olson went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts Sunday against the Texas Rangers. Olson's strikeout issues continue to stack up as he struck out six times in three games over the weekend, finishing 0-for-12 with one run, one RBI, and two walks. The struggles have followed him all season long as he is hitting .231 (18-for-92) with seven doubles, one triple, three homers, 12 runs, 13 RBI, 12 walks, and 26 strikeouts over 20 games. Despite striking out four times on Sunday, Olson remains a must-start in all league formats.

  • Matt Olson Goes Deep In Comeback Win

    Headshot for Matt Olson

Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson cranked a solo home run during the third inning of Friday's 6-5 walk-off win over the Arizona Diamondbacks, walloping his second homer of the young season. Olson crushed one to deep right center early in Friday's eventual comeback win during Atlanta's home opener. After a miserable 7-for-44 dry spell amid spring training, the 30-year-old reigning home run king is going about his business in the early goings of the regular season while hitting .269 (7-for-26) with a .975 OPS, two round-trippers, and six RBI through six outings. In 13 career games against Arizona as a member of the Braves, the lefty-hitting Olson is now batting .298 with five goners, 12 RBI, and eight runs scored and is a matchup-proof fantasy play on a daily basis in a potent Braves lineup.

  • Matt Olson Doubles Up On Opening Day

    Headshot for Matt Olson

Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson had a massive day on Friday, going 3-5 with three doubles, three RBI, and one run in Friday's 9-3 win over the Philadelphia Phillies. His bases-loaded double in the eighth inning put the finishing touches on the Braves' win over the Phillies. It was a great sign for Olson, who had a lackluster spring. As one of the best-hitting first basemen in the game, you can expect the 30-year-old to continue to be an essential cog in a very potent Braves lineup.

  • Matt Olson Adds Three Strikeouts To Spring Struggles

    Headshot for Matt Olson

Atlanta Braves first baseman Matt Olson couldn't get going in Thursday's 5-2 Grapefruit League loss to the New York Yankees, striking out in each of his three at-bats. Over 35 ABs during spring training, Olson is now batting a mere .171 with a .596 OPS, one home run, two RBI, and four runs scored. Fantasy managers spending a second-round pick on Olson this spring are hoping the 29-year-old reigning home run king is getting the struggles out of his system before the games begin to count on March 28 in Atlanta's regular-season opener against the division-rival Philadelphia Phillies. After also leading MLB with 139 RBI and the National League in slugging percentage (.604) plus perfect attendance in 2023 (162 games played), Olson is going to be just fine. He's among fantasy's safest bets in 2024 for prolific power numbers in a high-powered Braves lineup.
