  • Chris Bassitt Throws Seven Scoreless Innings

New York Mets starting pitcher Chris Bassitt earned his eighth victory of the season Wednesday, throwing seven scoreless innings on six hits and a walk while striking out four batters. Bassitt has now thrown a quality start in seven of his last eight outings, leaving him with a 3.61 ERA and 1.12 WHIP with 121 strikeouts in 122 innings across 20 starts this season. He's a better real-life pitcher than fantasy option, but he still represents a very solid rotation anchor in all formats.

  • Chris Bassitt Listed As Probable Starter For Friday

The New York Mets have right-hander Chris Bassitt listed as their probable pitcher for Friday's game against the Miami Marlins, which pushes Max Scherzer's next start to Monday against the Atlanta Braves. Bassitt landed on the COVID-19 injured list last week and he hasn't started for New York since June 25, so he'll be extra risky for fantasy purposes. The 33-year-old went 2-3 with a 4.70 ERA while walking seven and striking out 35 in his five June starts, and he's 6-5 overall with a 4.01 ERA, 1.15 WHIP, 95 strikeouts and 26 walks in 89 2/3 frames over his 15 starts in 2022. Bassitt is worth rostering in the majority of fantasy formats with his career-high 25.8% strikeout rate on the season.

  • Chris Bassitt A Long Shot To Make It Back By Thursday

New York Mets starting pitcher Chris Bassitt is a "long shot" to return to the rotation by this Thursday, according to skipper Buck Showalter. Left-hander David Peterson will start on Wednesday against the Cincinnati Reds, with right-hander Trevor Williams in line to toe the rubber on Thursday against the Miami Marlins. Bassitt landed on the COVID-19 injured list over the weekend and hasn't pitched since June 25, so it remains to be seen if he'll need to go out on a minor league rehab start before returning to the Mets rotation. In his first season with the Mets, Bassitt has gone 6-5 with a 4.01 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP while striking out 95 and walking 26 in 89 2/3 innings over 15 starts. He deserves to be stashed in all formats until he returns.

The Mets announced Friday that they’ve placed right-hander Chris Bassitt on the injured list and selected the contract of righty R.J. Alvarez from Triple-A Syracuse. • Chris Bassitt Rebounds With Gem

New York Mets starting pitcher Chris Bassitt delivered his strongest performance of the year Tuesday, throwing eight innings of shutout ball. He gave up just three hits and a walk while striking out seven batters to earn his fifth win of the season. It's a welcome outcome for Bassitt, who had allowed at least four runs in four of his last five outings. Bassitt's season ERA and WHIP are a solid 4.01 and 1.18 with 81 strikeouts across 76 1/3 innings in 13 starts. He should continue to rack up wins for one of the best teams in the league.

  • Chris Bassitt Dealing With Sinus Issue

New York Mets starting pitcher Chris Bassitt (illness) is dealing with a cold/sinus issue, according to Mets manager Buck Showalter. The skipper seems confident that Bassitt will be good to make his next start on Sunday, but if he's unable to go, then David Peterson would be on the mound instead. After a strong start to the year, Bassitt has been hit hard over his last two outings. Most recently, facing the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday, he gave up eight earned runs over 4 1/3 innings. The 33-year-old has a 3.91 ERA and a 1/21 WHIP on the year.
