  • Kris Bryant Remains Sidelined Wednesday

    Headshot for Kris Bryant

Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant (back) remains out of the lineup on Wednesday as he will miss his fourth straight game after leaving Saturday's contest against the Blue Jays with back soreness. The veteran remains day-to-day. It's been a sluggish start to the season for the 2016 NL MVP as Bryant is hitting just .149 with one homer and a 32.7% K% across his first 55 trips to the plate of the season. This comes on the heels of a .233 average with 10 homers and a career-worst 73 wRC+ across an injury-shortened 80 games in the 2023 campaign. Nolan Jones will man left field and hit sixth Wednesday against Phillies left-hander Christopher Sanchez.

  • Kris Bryant Held Out Of The Lineup

    Headshot for Kris Bryant

Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant (back) remains out of the lineup on Tuesday due to a back injury. Bryant has missed the last three games after exiting Saturday's game versus the Blue Jays due to soreness in his right rib cage and back. With Bryant not in the lineup as the Rockies take on the Philadelphia Phillies, Charlie Blackmon will start at DH, Elehuris Montero at first base, and Michael Toglia in right field. Bryant is slashing .149/.273/.255 this season with one home run and six RBIs.

  • Kris Bryant Out Of Rockies' Lineup On Monday

    Headshot for Kris Bryant

Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant (back) is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Philadelphia Phillies. Bryant exited Saturday's game in the fourth inning after experiencing lower back stiffness. The 32-year-old was also not in the lineup in the team's 5-0 loss on Sunday, now marking his second consecutive missed game. This injury is something that fantasy managers should keep an eye on in the coming days. He has dealt with his fair share of injuries over the past few seasons, and the Rockies could decide to take a careful approach with the veteran. If he continues to miss time or winds up landing on the injured list, look for Michael Toglia to get more outfield reps.

  • Kris Bryant Exits Early With Back Tightness

    Headshot for Kris Bryant

Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant exited today's game early against the Toronto Blue Jays while experiencing back tightness. This is the second time in the past ten days that Bryant has had back tightness affect his ability to stay on the field after being held out of the lineup last Saturday with back issues. Bryant made a running catch in the second inning where he crashed into the wall, potentially causing his back injury to resurface. The recurring injury will be something fantasy managers want to keep an eye on given Bryant's recent history with missing time due to being hurt. If Bryant is to miss any time, expect Michael Toglia to gain extra playing time in the outfield.

  • Kris Bryant Back In Sunday's Lineup

    Headshot for Kris Bryant

Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant (back) will return to the starting lineup and bat fourth for Sunday's showdown with the Tampa Bay Rays. The veteran missed Saturday's game with a stiff lower back but clearly the ailment wasn't severe. Bryant has scuffled at the plate in the early going, slashing a dismal .120/.267/.240 with one home run and three RBI through seven games. Fantasy managers can hold a little longer in hopes that the former MVP turns things around, but he is approaching droppable territory if the cold streak persists.

  • Kris Bryant Out Of Lineup On Saturday

    Headshot for Kris Bryant

Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant (back) is out of the lineup against the Tampa Bay Rays on Saturday. Rockies manager Bud Black stated he was keeping Bryant out of the lineup as he's dealing with a stiff lower back. This doesn't currently appear to be a severe injury, and Bryant should be considered day-to-day. The 32-year-old has been notably quiet at the plate to start the season, hitting just .120 (3-for-25) with one HR on the season. With Bryant playing multiple positions for the Rockies this season, Michael Toglia (outfield) and Elehuris Montero (first base) are likely beneficiaries of his absence. Toglia and Montero are in the Rockies lineup on Saturday night against the Tampa Bay Rays.

  • Kris Bryant Hits First Home Run Of 2024

    Headshot for Kris Bryant

Colorado Rockies first baseman Kris Bryant hit his first home run of the season on Friday in a wild 10-7 win over the Rays. It was Bryant's only hit of the night, going 1-for-5 with two RBI and a run scored. The 32-year-old is off to a slow start, with the home run being just his third hit of the season. He's now 3-for-25 (.120) with three RBI and three runs scored. The alarming part is that he's not making much contact (62.3% Contact%) and chasing pitches (41.1% O-Swing%), resulting in 12 strikeouts so far (40.0%). The former MVP has been unable to stay healthy during his time in Colorado, so hopefully he can turn it around while he's upright. Managers who took him as a late flier though may not have the luxury or patience to squander a roster spot on the veteran.

  • Kris Bryant In Cleanup Spot Monday

    Headshot for Kris Bryant

Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant is playing first base and batting cleanup in the first game of the series versus the Chicago Cubs and left-hander Shota Imanaga on Monday. Bryant hit in the two-hole for the Rockies in the first three games of the season before getting Sunday's series finale against the Arizona Diamondbacks off. The Rockies will try the former National League MVP in the cleanup spot as they attempt to get their offense going. Second baseman Brendan Rodgers will move from cleanup to No. 2 in the order. It's hard to recommend Bryant in any fantasy format right now, as he's opened the season up going 0-for-12 with seven strikeouts.

  • Kris Bryant, Charlie Blackmon Get Breather Sunday

    Headshot for Charlie Blackmon

Colorado Rockies outfielders Kris Bryant and Charlie Blackmon will both take a seat for Sunday's series finale against the Arizona Diamondbacks. It appears to be a regular off day for both veteran players. Bryant was hitless through his first three games of 2024, striking out a whopping seven times across 12 plate appearances. Blackmon fared a bit better, going 3-for-11 with three RBI and a stolen base. Bryant and Blackmon are not the fantasy stalwarts they once were, but both possess discounted upside and Coors Field exposure. In their absence, Jake Cave is starting in right field while Michael Toglia will man first base.

  • Kris Bryant In A "Great Place" Physically

    Headshot for Kris Bryant

Colorado Rockies manager Bud Black says first baseman/outfielder Kris Bryant is in a "great place" physically, and he believes 25 home runs is a possibility for the veteran. Bryant is entering the third season of a seven-year, $182 million contract that is widely perceived as an albatross, but the 32-year-old four-time All-Star did hammer three homers and draw six walks over 43 plate appearances during spring training. Set to primarily occupy first base in 2024, Bryant should have a much better chance of staying healthy at the cold corner after appearing in just 122 of a possible 324 games in the past two years for the Rocks. Only rostered in one-third of Yahoo leagues to begin the season, the former National League MVP can't be discounted as a potential bounce-back candidate with plenty of slugging upside from a premium lineup spot in Colorado's lineup at the hitter's paradise that is Coors Field.

  • Elehuris Montero Could Force His Way Into Regular Playing Time

    Headshot for Kris Bryant

Colorado Rockies first baseman Elehuris Montero went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer during Thursday's Cactus League game against the Chicago Cubs. MLB.com's Thomas Harding relayed that manager Bud Black sees Montero as a candidate to play first base or designated hitter in 2024. The veteran skipper also mentioned the club could occasionally play Kris Bryant in right field in order to get Montero's bat in the lineup. This is high praise for the 25-year-old right-hander as he looks to improve on a 2023 campaign in which he slashed .243/.290/.426 with 11 homers, a 4.9 K%, a 36.2 BB%, and a 76 wRC+.

    Headshot for Kris Bryant

Pitching injuries defined the Rockies’ 103-loss 2023 season, as the team had a seemingly endless string of hurlers missing time with both minor and major ailments.  The top of the rotation was hit particularly hard, with German Marquez and Antonio Senzatela both undergoing Tommy John surgeries that will stretch their time on the injured list…

  • Kris Bryant Says He's Healthy, Set To Play First Base

    Headshot for Kris Bryant

Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant's first two seasons with the team have been marred by injuries, but the veteran slugger and former MVP said he's healthy and ready to turn things around in 2024. He signed a seven-year, $182 million deal in the spring of 2022 and still thinks he can be the player the Rockies were expecting. Bryant is penciled in to be the team's starting first baseman this year, although he will get at-bats as the designated hitter and could also see some time in right field. He started seven games at first base in 2023, his first time playing the position since 2021. In two seasons in Colorado, the 32-year-old has slashed .259/.378/.508 while dealing with plantar fasciitis, a bruised left heel and a broken left index finger. Bryant peaked in 2019 and hasn't been able to stay healthy in recent years, but he will retain outfield eligibility for fantasy managers in 2024 and could provide some modest power numbers if he can stay on the field while playing first base.
