  • Kris Bryant Still Out Sick

    Headshot for Kris Bryant

Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant (illness) remains out of action on Friday with the team taking on the visiting Minnesota Twins. Bryant has been under the weather of late and will now miss his fourth straight game. With just two more regular season games this weekend, we may not see Bryant again in 2023. Elehuris Montero is playing first base and batting cleanup, while Sean Bouchard is making a start in right field and hitting seventh for the Rockies against Twins right-hander Joe Ryan. The 31-year-old Bryant has had yet another disappointing season in his second year in Colorado, hitting .239 (70-for-293) with only 10 home runs, 10 doubles, 31 RBI and 36 runs scored in 327 plate appearances and 78 games in 2023.

  • Kris Bryant Remains On The Bench With Illness

    Headshot for Kris Bryant

Colorado Rockies designated hitter/first baseman Kris Bryant (illness) is still out of Thursday's lineup for the series finale versus the Los Angeles Dodgers due to an illness. Friday's series opener vs. the Minnesota Twins marks the 31-year-old's next chance to return to the fold from his sickness, which has cost him the previous three meetings. Year 2 of Bryant's lucrative seven-year deal has been underwhelming once again to say the least, slashing .239/.318/.375 with 10 home runs, 10 doubles, and 31 RBI in 327 plate appearances. Elehuris Montero is at the cold corner and hitting fifth while Charlie Blackmon operates as the DH and leads off against lefty swingman Ryan Yarbrough on Thursday.

  • Kris Bryant Has Been Under The Weather

    Headshot for Kris Bryant

Colorado Rockies outfielder/first baseman Kris Bryant (illness) has been absent from the lineup of late for the Rockies because he's been sick. Bryant played in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader, but it's the only time he's been in the lineup in the last four contests for Colorado. Since returning from a long stint on the injured list on Sept. 11, Bryant has gone just 9-for-50 (.180) with two home runs, three doubles, eight RBI, 17 strikeouts and nine runs scored in 13 games (12 starts). The 31-year-old former Rookie of the Year and MVP has rarely been healthy since signing with the Rockies before the 2022 season and has hit .239 (70-for-293) with 10 homers, 31 RBI and 36 runs scored in only 78 games in 2023.

In conjunction with this post, Anthony Franco will hold a Rockies-centric chat on 9-25-23 at 8:00 pm CDT. Click here to leave a question in advance. As has been the case for a few seasons, the Rockies underperformed internal expectations. While owner Dick Monfort said before Opening Day he felt the team could hover around…

  • Kris Bryant Returning To Starting Lineup Monday

    Headshot for Kris Bryant

Colorado Rockies infielder/outfielder Kris Bryant is back in the starting lineup Monday evening against the San Diego Padres and right-hander Michael Wacha. Bryant didn't start Sunday's series finale against the Giants but did reach base on an error in the ninth inning as part of his club's narrow 11-10 loss and will return to man first base out of the three-hole on Monday in San Diego. The former NL Rookie of the Year and MVP has had a down season while continuing to deal with injuries as he's hitting .254 with 10 home runs and a .734 OPS across 72 appearances, although he's hitting .280 with two HR and an .893 OPS across 27 plate appearances in the month of September. His fantasy stock has taken a turn for the worse, largely due to injuries, over the last handful of seasons.

  • Kris Bryant Officially Activated From Injured List

    Headshot for Kris Bryant

The Colorado Rockies activated outfielder Kris Bryant (finger) from the injured list on Monday and designated outfielder Cole Tucker for assignment in a corresponding move. Bryant will make his return for the first time since landing on the injured list on July 25 with a fractured left index finger. He's immediately back in the starting lineup on Monday, playing first base and batting cleanup against the visiting Chicago Cubs and left-hander Jordan Wicks. The 31-year-old slugger should see regular playing time down the stretch for Colorado between first base, the outfield and designated hitter. Bryant has struggled to stay healthy the last two years and is returning to a mediocre .251/.338/.379 slash line with eight home runs, 23 RBI and 27 runs scored in his 243 at-bats this year.

  • Kris Bryant Expected To Return Monday

    Headshot for Kris Bryant

Colorado Rockies outfielder Kris Bryant (finger) is expected to come off the 10-day injured list on Monday and play against his former team, the Chicago Cubs. Bryant has been on the shelf since July 22 after suffering a fractured finger on his left hand. It's been an injury-filled two years since joining the Rockies for Bryant. In 65 games this year before going on the injured list, he hit .251 (61-for-243) with eight home runs, seven doubles, 23 RBI and 27 runs scored in 275 plate appearances. The former Rookie of the Year and MVP should see regular playing time between the outfield, first base and designated hitter now that he's back in the big leagues. But fantasy managers shouldn't expect any kind of amazing finish for the aging and now injury-prone Bryant.
