  • Mitch Haniger Could Remain Out Until Mid-July

Seattle Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger (ankle) spoke to reporters about his Grade 2 ankle sprain on Tuesday. He gave some context for his timeline, saying "As far as getting back in games, I think like a rough estimate would be from date of injury is 10 to 12 weeks, but at the same time, I've heard it can go on the earlier end and I've also heard on the longer end." The injury first occurred on April 29. So if he indeed winds up missing a total of 10-to-12 weeks, he won't be back until the middle of July or late July. Fellow outfielder Kyle Lewis (knee) is trending toward making his 2022 debut with the team soon and he'll benefit from Haniger's absence as he'll slot in as one of the team's primary outfield/designated hitter options alongside Jarred Kelenic, Julio Rodriguez and Jesse Winker.

  • Mitch Haniger Dealing With A Grade 2 High-Ankle Sprain

Seattle Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger (ankle) is dealing with a Grade 2 high-ankle sprain, per manager Scott Servais. He was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday. The 31-year-old initially sustained a high-ankle sprain during Friday's loss to the Miami Marlins. Haniger is facing an extended absence, but the official timeline for his recovery has yet to be announced. Dylan Moore should see an uptick in at-bats while Haniger is sidelined and is a speculative add in deep-league formats. Moore popped 12 homers and swiped 21 bags but slashed an abysmal .181/.276/.334 over 377 plate appearances in 2021. The 29-year-old has dual eligibility and qualifies at third base and outfield in most league formats. Moore is hitting .273 with a homer and two RBI over nine games in 2022.

  • Mitch Haniger Placed On The 10-Day Injured List

Seattle Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger (ankle) was placed on the 10-day injured list Saturday. He sustained a high-ankle sprain during Friday's loss to the Miami Marlins. After being recently activated from the COVID-19 IL on Friday, the 31-year-old is set to miss weeks. Haniger was off to a slow start, slashing .200/.222/.486 with three home runs and seven RBI over nine games in 2022. Dylan Moore should see an uptick in at-bats while Haniger is sidelined and is a speculative add in deep-league formats. Moore popped 12 homers and swiped 21 bags but slashed an abysmal .181/.276/.334 over 377 plate appearances in 2021.

  • Mitch Haniger Leaves Friday's Game With Injury

Seattle Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger left Friday's game with a high ankle sprain. Haniger hurt himself on a swing during the first inning. He wound up picking up a single on that at-bat but was removed by pinch-runner Abraham Toro. After just getting activated from the COVID list earlier in the day, Haniger could miss several more days with a trip to the injured list also a possibility thanks to the ankle issue. Expect the Mariners to provide updates on his ankle after the game on Friday. Haniger is hitting .200 with three homers, three runs, and seven RBI over 36 at-bats.

  • Mariners Reinstate Mitch Haniger Friday

The Seattle Mariners reinstated outfielder Mitch Haniger from the COVID-19 injured list on Friday and designated right-hander Matt Koch for assignment in a corresponding move. Haniger tested positive for COVID-19 on April 16 and hasn't played since, so fantasy managers shouldn't be too surprised if is slow to get back into a groove at the plate. The 31-year-old should be back in the starting lineup on Friday against Miami Marlins right-hander Elieser Hernandez. Before going on the injured list, Haniger was hitting just .176, but he did have three home runs, seven RBI and three runs scored in his first eight games. Jarred Kelenic had been primarily playing right field with Haniger out.

  • Mitch Haniger Not In Thursday's Lineup

Seattle Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger (illness) is not in the starting lineup on Thursday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Haniger has been with the team in Tampa this week, but he said on Wednesday that he's not quite 100% and remains on the COVID-19 list. The 31-year-old came down with the virus on April 16 and has been out since, so the Mariners are easing him back into baseball activities. There's a chance that Haniger could be activated from the COVID list and return to Seattle's lineup at some point this weekend. Before getting sick, Haniger was 6-for-34 with three home runs and seven RBI in eight games played. Jesse Winker, Julio Rodriguez and Jarred Kelenic are the M's starting outfielders on Thursday against Rays left-handed opener Jeffrey Springs.

  • Mitch Haniger Could Be Activated Wednesday

Seattle Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger (illness) was reportedly "going through the motions" to return from the COVID-19 injured list on Tuesday, per interim manager Kristopher Negrn. It was reported that Haniger could be activated on Wednesday after testing positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, but the decision hasn't yet been set in stone. Managers in daily formats should monitor the news as it develops. Haniger has struggled to start the year, slashing just .176/.200/.471 with three home runs, seven RBI, and three runs scored over eight games. He is coming off an excellent 2021 campaign in which he belted 39 HR to go with 100 RBI and a .253/.318/.485 slash line. Once Haniger is cleared to return and gets his bat going, he is a must-start outfield option in all formats.

  • Mitch Haniger Placed On COVID-19 IL

Seattle Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger (illness) was placed on the COVID-19 injured list after testing positive for the virus on Saturday. The 31-year-old is expected to miss at least the next five days before being cleared to return. He's struggled to start the year, slashing .176/.200/.471 with three home runs, seven RBI, and three runs scored over eight games. Infielder Donovan Walton was recalled in a corresponding move. Dylan Moore should see an uptick in playing time while Haniger is out. Moore is a speculative add in deep-league formats after hitting 12 homers and swiping 21 bags over 126 games in 2021.

  • Mitch Haniger Avoids Arbitration With $7.75 Million Deal

Seattle Mariners outfielder Mitch Haniger has agreed to a one-year, $7.75 million deal that will allow him and the club to avoid arbitration. The 31-year-old will have a lot to play for this year as he'll be an unrestricted free agent after the 2022 season. Last year, over 157 games, he slashed .253/.318/.486 with 39 home runs, 100 RBI and 110 runs. RotoBaller has him ranked just inside the top-100. He's a great No. 3 outfielder to target or even a potential No. 2 outfielder if you get off to a slow start at the position. The Mariners amped up their offense this offseason, adding Jesse Winker and Eugenio Suarez from the Reds, so Haniger should be in position for some strong counting stats once again.
