  • Mitch Haniger Absent From The Lineup For Game 1 Of Doubleheader

    Headshot for Mitch Haniger

San Francisco Giants outfielder Mitch Haniger is not in the starting lineup for Game 1 of Saturday's doubleheader against the Colorado Rockies. The veteran outfielder will likely be out there for Game 2 in the afternoon but he'll be taking a seat in the opener. Haniger has struggled mightily at the dish since being activated from the 60-day IL in late August. He's slashing .146/.239/.390 with a pair of home runs in 13 games since his activation so maybe getting the game off will do him some good. Mike Yastrzemski is starting in left field while Michael Conforto is handling right and Joc Pederson serves as the Giants' DH against Rockies starter Brent Suter.

  • Giants Reinstate Mitch Haniger, Designate Bryce Johnson

    Headshot for Mitch Haniger

The Giants announced they’ve reinstated Mitch Haniger from the 60-day injured list. Heliot Ramos was optioned to Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move. To clear space on the 40-man roster, San Francisco designated outfielder Bryce Johnson for assignment. Haniger returns two and a half months after breaking his arm. An errant Jack Flaherty pitch resulted in a right forearm…

  • Mitch Haniger Activated From 60-Day Injured List

    Headshot for Mitch Haniger

San Francisco Giants outfielder Mitch Haniger (forearm) has been activated from the 60-day injured list on Tuesday. The 32-year-old is set to make his return after being sidelined since mid-June due to a fractured forearm. Haniger played in five minor league games before making his return on Tuesday. During that time, he went 1-for-17 in those games, so fantasy managers shouldn't get too excited about his return. Before going down, Haniger slashed .230/.281/.372 with four home runs and 22 RBI in 38 games. The expectation is that he'll return to the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Cincinnati Reds.

  • Mitch Haniger Slated For Batting Practice Saturday

    Headshot for Mitch Haniger

San Francisco Giants outfielder Mitch Haniger (forearm) is slated to take batting practice in the cage on Saturday. The 32-year-old sustained a right forearm fracture on June 13 and underwent surgery a day after to repair the injury. Haniger's initial 10-week return timetable lines him up tentatively for a late-August return, but there's a chance his absence extends into early September. The oft-injured slugger also missed the campaign's initial 21 games due to an oblique strain. Haniger would return to a disappointing .230/.281/.372 triple-slash line with four home runs, nine doubles, and 22 RBI over 148 at-bats whenever he may be activated.

  • Mitch Haniger To Resume Baseball Activity

    Headshot for Mitch Haniger

San Francisco Giants outfielder Mitch Haniger's (forearm) X-rays showed that his fractured forearm has healed, so he can now begin baseball activity. Haniger still has a ways to go before he's back in the team's big-league lineup, but this represents a pretty big step in his rehab after having surgery in June to fix a fracture in his right forearm. The 32-year-old could be back with the Gigantes by mid- to late-August as long as he doesn't have any setbacks along the way. For what it's worth, he'll be eligible to come off the injured list on Aug. 13. Haniger probably won't provide much help in fantasy the rest of the way when he does return, as he was hitting just .230/.281/.372 with four homers and 22 RBI in 148 at-bats before getting hurt.
