  • Trevor Story Gets Day Off On Thursday

Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story is getting the night off on Thursday, according to Daniel Guerrero of MLB.com. Manager Bud Black said that it was just a day off, and they will try to avoid bringing him into the game Thursday. Story has gotten off to a good start this season, slashing .278/.351/.474 with four home runs, 21 RBI and 22 runs scored in 37 games this season. Look for him to return to action on Friday, but for now Alan Trejo will pencil in at shortstop and bat eighth against the Reds.

  • Trevor Story Knocks In A Run, Swipes A Bag On Wednesday

Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story went a combined 2-for-7 with a run scored, an RBI, a walk, a stolen base, and three strikeouts in Wednesday's doubleheader vs. the San Diego Padres. Story did all of his damage in Game 1, a 5-3 loss when he put the Rockies on the board with an RBI single in the first inning off of Yu Darvish. He picked up another single, a walk, and stole his fifth base of the year later in that game. He went 0-for-4 in Game 2 with three strikeouts. Story is now slashing .278/.351/.474 with four home runs, 21 RBI, and five thefts over 133 at-bats this season. Fantasy managers were probably hoping for more power at this point in the season but his home run numbers should start to tick up as the weather warms in Denver.

  • Trevor Story Has Not Discussed Extension With Rockies GM

Colorado Rockies interim general manager Bill Schmidt has yet to discuss a contract extension with star shortstop Trevor Story or Story's agent. Story is set to become an unrestricted free agent after this year. The fact that Schmidt and Story haven't begun negotiations makes it likely that Story is playing his last year in Colorado and could even be dealt some time this season. Story's fantasy value would certainly take a hit if he moved away from the league's most hitter-friendly ballpark, Coors Field, but he'd still offer a ton of fantasy upside regardless of his landing spot.

  • Trevor Story Reaches Five Times In Tuesday's Doubleheader

Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story went a combined 4-for-7 with a double, two RBI, a walk, one run scored, and a stolen base in Tuesday's doubleheader vs. the Giants. Story went 2-for-3 with a walk and a swiped bag, his fourth of the year, in Game 1, which was a 12-4 blowout loss. He hit a clutch two-run double off of Jake McGee in the bottom of the seventh inning, which sparked the Rockies' six-run rally, in Game 2. The 28-year-old shortstop took a little time to get going this season but he's been phenomenal over his last seven games, slashing .400/.516/.840 with two home runs and seven RBI over 25 at-bats. On the year, he's sporting a solid .303/.366/.532 batting line to go along with four home runs, 20 RBI, and four stolen bases across 109 at-bats. He should continue to be a fantasy monster the rest of the way.

  • Trevor Story Injured On Sunday

Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story (finger) was pulled from Sunday's matchup against the Diamondbacks. The 28-year-old was hit by a pitch in the eighth inning, injuring his right index finger. He remained in the game to run the bases, but he was yanked defensively in the ninth. Story is batting .283 this season, racking up 28 hits, with eight doubles, 16 RBI, 16 runs, and three home runs. He should be evaluated further by Monday, at the latest, although he could be in store for a trip to the injured list.

  • Trevor Story Homers In Big Win Over Arizona

Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story went 3-for-5 with a home run, two RBI, four runs scored, and a walk in a 14-6 blowout win over the Diamondbacks on Saturday. Story cracked a two-run home run, his third of the year, off reliever Caleb Smith in the top of the sixth inning. He would also double in the game and score four runs total. The All Star shortstop took some time to get going this year but he's starting to flash. He's rocking a .283/.336/.495 batting line with three home runs and 16 RBI over 99 at-bats this season. Fantasy managers should enjoy Story's production over the next few months as he is considered to be a likely trade candidate this summer.

  • Trevor Story Swats An RBI Triple On Thursday

Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story went 1-for-4 with an RBI triple in a 5-3 loss to the Diamondbacks on Thursday. The All-Star shortstop swatted his second triple of the season off of Luke Weaver in the top of the third inning to score Garrett Hampson. Story is in the middle of a 1-for-14 mini-slump, which has dropped his batting average from .299 back on April 25 to .264 on April 30. He got off to a slower start in the power department this season as well but he remains one of the elite shortstops in fantasy baseball. He's currently slashing .264/.310/.440 with six doubles, two triples, two home runs, and 14 RBI over 91 at-bats. He'll aim to finish the weekend series with the D-Backs on a high note.

  • Trevor Story Hits Grand Slam In Win Over Phillies

Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story hit a grand slam off right-hander David Hale in the team's 12-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday, the club's fifth win in their last seven games. The free-agent-to-be this offseason, the home run was just Story's second of the season. Story added a single, a strikeout and a walk in the 2-for-4 effort. Despite the lack of home runs early in the season, the young star shortstop has a strong slash line of .299/.333/.481 with 13 RBI, nine runs scored and two stolen bases in 84 plate appearances. Story is already one of the top fantasy shortstops in the game, and it helps that he calls hitter-friendly Coors Field his home. However, Story could wind up in another uniform at the trade deadline this summer.

  • Trevor Story Smacks First Home Run Of The Year On Friday

Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story went 2-for-4 with a double and a solo home run as the Rockies beat the Phillies 5-4 on Friday. Story finally went deep in the fourth inning, smacking a solo home run off Phillies' starter Vince Velasquez. The home run put the Rockies on the board and should be the first of many the All Star shortstop. Fantasy managers had to wait longer than expected for the power to come around on Story but does have six doubles and a triple to go along with his .286/.320/.443 batting line across 70 at-bats. Expect to see a rise in home runs and slugging percentage moving forward.

  • Trevor Story Doubles And Scores Rockies' Only Run

Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story went 2-for-4 with a run scored and was caught stealing in a 2-1 loss to the Mets on Sunday. Story doubled off Marcus Stroman in the seventh inning and came around to score on a Charlie Blackmon single. He also singled in the bottom of the ninth but was caught stealing to end the game. Stroman was dealing all afternoon and the Rockies picked up just three hits off him. Story is now slashing .271/.302/.373 with four doubles, a triple, and five RBI over 59 at-bats. He's still searching for his first home run of the season but he's faced some stingy pitching staffs in the Dodgers and Mets to begin the season. The home runs will start to come in droves very soon.

  • Trevor Story Getting A Day Off On Thursday

Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story is absent from the lineup on Thursday vs. Julio Urias and the Los Angeles Dodgers. This looks to just be a day of rest for the 28-year-old shortstop so there's no concern here. Alan Trejo is starting at shortstop and batting eighth in his place. Story is off to a lackluster start this year with a .265/.308/.367 batting line with no home runs, four RBI, and one stolen base over 49 at-bats. He's still searching for his first long ball but nothing in his batted ball profile suggests he's in a slump. In any event, the day of rest should be good for him. He should start to pick it up at the dish soon.

  • Trevor Story Reaches Four Times In Loss To The Giants

Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story went 2-for-3 with a double and two walks in a 4-0 loss to the Giants on Sunday. The Rockies managed eight hits as a team but couldn't get a single run across the plate as they were blanked in the series finale on Sunday. Story did his part with a single, a double, and two walks but it didn't prevent Colorado from getting swept in the series. The former All-Star shortstop is still searching for his first home run of the season but is putting up a decent .286/.333/.405 batting line over 42 at-bats. The Rockies are struggling to score runs as a team and it won't get much easier as they head down to Los Angeles to kick off a three-game set with the Dodgers and their stellar pitching staff.

  • Trevor Story Doubles and Triples In Rockies Victory

Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story went 2-for-4 with a double, a triple, two RBI, and a run scored in a 7-3 win over the Diamondbacks on Thursday. Story picked up both his hits in the first two innings of the ball game with an RBI double in the bottom of the first and an RBI triple in the second inning. Both hits came against D-Backs starter Merrill Kelly, who was hammered for seven runs (six earned). Story has gotten off to a slow start this season with a .226/.250/.355 batting line and no home runs 31 at-bats. It's nothing fantasy managers should be concerned about, for now, he should pick it up soon. The Rockies head to San Francisco for a three-game set that starts on Friday.

  • Trevor Story Collects A Pair Of Hits On Opening Day

Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story went 2-for-5 with a pair of singles in Thursday's Opening Day victory over the Dodgers. Story looked good at the plate- getting to Clayton Kershaw for two of his 10 hits- and in the field, where he made a couple of nice plays- including a nifty throw on a double-play. The lone blemish on the day for the star shortstop was a baserunning mistake, as he was a picked off and caught stealing by Kershaw in the first inning. Story will play three more games against the Dodgers, then three against the Diamondbacks. He may not call Colorado home all season with trade rumors swirling, but each of the remaining games in his first two series of the 2021 season will take place in the hitter-friendly confines of Coors Field, where he owns a career .994 OPS.

  • Trevor Story Strikes Out Twice On Thursday

Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Thursday's win over the Angels. Story was having a solid spring but is now in the midst of a slump, as he has one hit- a home run- in his last 13 at-bats with four strikeouts compared to two walks. While it might make some fantasy managers uneasy that his spring slump is occurring with Opening Day right around the corner, there's nothing to be worried about with the 28-year-old star. Few can match Story when it comes to statistical production, as he averaged 149 games played, 89 runs scored, 32 home runs, 92 RBI, 19 stolen bases, and a .276 batting average over his last three full seasons. He's being selected around the end of the first round/beginning of the second, which is a great place to target him.

  • Trevor Story Collects Two Hits Wednesday

Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story went 2-for-4 with one RBI in Wednesday's 11-8 loss to the San Francisco Giants. Story has had a solid start to the spring as he is now 6-for-23 with three home runs and six RBI across his first eight spring games. Story will find himself hitting third in the Rockies' lineup in 2021 and should have a solid season coming off an 11 home run and 15 stolen base season in 2020. He has a solid power/speed combo and is strongly deserving of his current ADP, which sits at 12.

  • Trevor Story Hits Third Homer Of Spring Friday

Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story went 1-for-3 against the Giants on Friday, hitting his third home run of the spring in the loss. It's been all-or-nothing for Story through his first five games, as he is currently hitting 3-for-13 with three home runs, five RBI and five strikeouts. While there has been speculation this offseason as to whether he is traded away, Story remains the top power-hitting shortstop in fantasy, although his value could drop if he leaves Coors Field due to his career home-road splits (.304/.370/.624 at Coors Field vs .250/.315/.445 on the road)

  • Trevor Story Homers Tuesday

Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story went 1-for-3 with a solo shot in Tuesday's 11-4 win against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The home run was Story's second of the spring and he is now 2-for-7 with two home runs and four RBI across his first three spring games. Story had a solid 2020 campaign in which he slashed .289/.355/.519 with 11 home runs and 15 stolen bases. He has tremendous upside when it comes to power and speed as noted by him hitting 30-plus homers and stealing 20-plus bases in 2018 and 2019. This is why his current ADP is sitting at 13 and is certainly worth the selection here.

  • Rockies Don't Have The Budget To Extend Trevor Story

Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story, who can become a free agent after the 2021 season, is unlikely to re-re-sign with the team, per Jon Heyman of MLB Network. Heyman stated earlier that the Rockies are "said not to have the budget for any big signing at the moment, so barring some big change there won't be an extension coming anytime soon for superstar SS Trevor Story." The writing has been on the wall for some time, as the Rockies haven't even opened discussions about an extension with the All-Star shortstop. Colorado already traded third baseman Nolan Arenado to the Cardinals during the offseason and look to be heading into full-on rebuild mode. This recent bit of news increases the probability of a midseason trade, which could hamper Story's fantasy value. He should still play the first half of the year at Coors Field, though, so this recent bit of news shouldn't prevent you from taking him at his second-round ADP.

  • Trevor Story Hasn't Discussed Contract Extension

Colorado Rockies shortstop Trevor Story has yet to discuss a contract extension with the team as he enters the final year of his deal. "Yeah, it's a contract year, but to me, every year is pretty much that way," Story told reporters on Tuesday. A midseason trade to a contender is a possibility with the two-time All-Star set to become a free agent at the end of the season. The front office claims the team is not rebuilding, but they already traded third baseman Nolan Arenado to the Cardinals earlier this offseason and are projected to finish dead last in the National League West by PECOTA. The team will likely see how the season starts out before fielding any serious offers, but this is a situation to keep an eye on. Story should still be locked in as a first-round pick in fantasy drafts with his combination of power and speed.
