  • Edouard Julien\'s Spring Training Run Ends With Ankle Injury

Minnesota Twins\' fourth-ranked prospect Edouard Julien had to leave a spring training game against the Pirates after sustaining a left ankle sprain. The second baseman had a great spring with a 1.114 OPS in 23 spring training at-bats and a 1.821 OPS in the World Baseball Classic for the Canadian national team. The Twins optioned the 23-year-old to Double-A on March 14, where he put up a .422 wOBA in 2022. The Quebec native will likely see some plate appearances with the Twins this year, but the magnitude of those appearances will depend entirely on the health of the oft-injured Jorge Polanco and Nick Gordon.

  • Jorge Polanco To Miss Beggining Of Season

After missing the last month of the 2022 season, Minnesota Twins second baseman Jorge Polanco (knee) is expected to start the season on the injured list. Polanco was termed with left knee tendentious that sidelined him for a considerable amount of time last season. He hasn't played in spring training yet, and he's doubtful to play until he has no restrictions. The 29-year-old played in 104 games last season and slashed .235/.346/.405 with a .751 OPS with 16 HRs. Barring any injuries, Polanco is one of the best second basemen in the business, and it's quite vital that the Twins get him healthy soon. For fantasy managers, Polanco has a ton of upside and he should be his productive self if he stays on the field.

  • Jorge Polanco, Alex Kirilloff Could Miss Opening Day

Opening Day is in doubt for Minnesota Twins infielder Jorge Polanco (knee) and outfielder Alex Kirilloff (wrist). Polanco hasn't graduated from batting practice to exhibition games in camp after missing the final 58 games in 2022 with a bone bruise in his left knee. Kirilloff took two at-bats in a minor-league game over the weekend, but the Twins continue to be cautious with the young hitter. If Polanco is able to play on Tuesday, he'd need only a few days beyond the opener to be ready. But without him logging any time at second base, the bigger question is where Polanco would play as he continues to ramp up his activities. Because Kirilloff played Saturday, the Twins intend to delay a decision on his immediate future.

  • Jorge Polanco May Begin Season On Twins' Injured List

The Twins have “been having some internal discussions” about Jorge Polanco’s status for Opening Day, chief baseball officer Derek Falvey said, since Polanco has yet to play in any Spring Training games.  Left knee soreness brought a premature end to Polanco’s 2022 season, so the Twins opted to bring the second baseman along slowly this…

  • Twins Notes: Buxton, Polanco, Gordon, Miranda, Kirilloff, Rotation

Chief baseball officer Derek Falvey met with reporters (including Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press and MLB.com’s Do-Hyoung Park) today at the Twins’ spring camp, and provided several injury updates.  The news is particularly good for Byron Buxton and Jorge Polanco, as Falvey said both players are on track to be in the…

  • Twins To Rotate At Designated Hitter

Minnesota Twins manager Rocco Baldelli said the team expects to use multiple players at designated hitter this year. It wouldn't be surprising to see the Twins use the spot to give players such as Byron Buxton, Carlos Correa, Jorge Polanco and Jose Miranda a day off from the field. Luis Arraez made a team-high 38 appearances at DH in 2022, with Buxton (35), Gary Sanchez (33) and Miranda (20) also splitting time in the spot. Arraez and Sanchez are no longer with the team. The Twins also have a wealth of left-handed-hitting corner outfielders, so they could use the DH spot to keep some of those bats in their everyday lineup.
