  • George Springer Dealing With A "Mild Ankle Sprain"

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer's ankle sprain that forced him to exit Friday's game against the Tampa Bay Rays is considered mild. According to Blue Jays manager Charles Montoya, the preliminary assessment is a "mild" ankle sprain for Springer. The 32-year-old won't be sent for any imaging and is considered day-to-day. He went 0-for-2 before leaving. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the situation, but Springer has avoided a significant injury. Raimel Tapia would see an uptick in playing time while Springer is sidelined.

  • George Springer Sprains Ankle Friday

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer left Friday's game with a sprained ankle. Springer injured his ankle after falling awkwardly into the outfield wall at Tropicana Field after misplaying a triple off the bat of Brandon Lowe. He initially stayed in the game but left after a groundout in the third inning, ultimately going 0-for-2 before being replaced in center field by Raimel Tapia. There's no word yet on the severity of the injury but look for Toronto to update his status after the game on Friday night.

The 32-year-old is slashing .277/.337/.521 with six home runs, 12 RBI, 17 runs, and two stolen bases across 104 plate appearances in 2022. • George Springer Goes Deep Twice In Saturday's Win

Fantasy managers know that they have a five-category contributor, and hopefully, he can play more than the 78 games he appeared in last season.

  • George Springer Absent From Lineup Saturday

Toronto Blue Jays outfielder George Springer is taking the day off on Saturday against the Oakland Athletics. Bradley Zimmer will get the start in center field and will hit ninth against A's right-hander Paul Blackburn. Springer is off to a fine start this year, slugging two home runs and driving in five runs while batting .306 in his first 39 plate appearances over eight games. Fantasy managers will want to get him back in their lineups when he returns on Sunday. Zimmer is searching for his first hit in his fourth game for the Blue Jays, and he'll be a deep DFS sleeper on Saturday. Raimel Tapia, who moves to the leadoff spot with Springer resting, is a much better DFS target.

Over 18 at-bats so far in 2022 Springer is hitting .389/.450/.833 with two HR, four RBI, and 15 total bases. He remains a must-start outfield option in all formats as he serves as a key component to a torrid Blue Jays offense.
