  • Jose Altuve Has Cooled Off At The Plate

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve went 2-for-5 with a home run and four runs batted in on Tuesday against the Rangers. The long-ball is Altuve's sixth in the month of June and is slugging .585 over his past 53 at-bats despite cooling off at the plate over the last week. The 31-year-old is 8-for-28 (.210) over his last eight games after a torrid stretch of offensive production. The lull at the plate should be temporary and Altuve is a fantastic fantasy play when he plays at Minute Maid Park. Through 28 home games, the veteran is slashing .309/.391/.536 with four doubles, seven home runs, 20 runs batted in and 20 runs scored.

  • Jose Altuve Launches Ninth Home Run In Win

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve went 1-for-6 in the team's 6-3 win over the Blue Jays on Sunday. Altuve's lone hit came right out of the gate, as he launched a pitch from Blue Jays starter Steven Matz over the fence for his ninth home run of the season. It was a fantastic three-game series for the 31-year-old, going 5-for-13 with one home run, two runs scored and three runs batted in. After a sluggish first month of his season, Altuve is hitting .315 over his last 132 at-bats. The former MVP has returned to form after a disastrous 2020 season and should be a top-shelf choice among second basemen in DFS leagues heading into next week.

The 31-year-old has bounced back in a major way this season, slashing .314/.365/.451 with 11 extra-base hits, 19 runs batted in and 28 runs scored. • Jose Altuve Scores Three Runs In Win

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve went 2-for-4 with three runs scored in the Astros 8-4 victory over the A's on Thursday. Altuve is now slashing .352/.420/.563 in the month of May and has scored at least one run in 11 of his last 13 games. After a sluggish start to the season the former MVP has even flashed some power from the leadoff spot, posting six extra-base hits over his last 55 at-bats. Altuve's current .837 OPS is back in line with his career output and his offense has elevated him to one of the better DFS selections among second basemen heading into the weekend.

  • Jose Altuve Enjoying Strong Month Of May

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve will try and keep his hot month of May going into Tuesday's matchup against the A's. Through 14 games this month, Altuve is slashing .339/.415/.554 with three doubles, three home runs, nine runs scored and nine runs batted in. It has been a a promising stretch for the Astros leadoff man, who also is hitting .333 with runners in scoring position this season. Altuve will try to, however, improve his production in road games heading into Tuesday's game in Oakland. Through 50 at-bats away from Minute Maid Park, Altuve is posting an anemic .644 OPS with only three extra-base hits. DFS rosters may want to wait until the Astros return home before inserting Altuve into lineups.

It appears to be a day off for Altuve, who is slashing .291/.333/.444 over 28 games, and has started in 17 straight games. Robel Garcia will get the start in his place at second base, and will bat leadoff against Texas. Look for Altuve to return to action on Saturday.

  • Jose Altuve Hits Big Home Run On His Birthday

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve hit a huge three-run home run in the eighth inning off of New York Yankees reliever Chad Green on his 31st birthday on Thursday to give his club the 7-4 victory. It was Altuve's first career homer on his birthday and helped the Astros avoid a three-game sweep. He finished the day 2-for-5 with the three-run homer and a single. Through 21 games this year, Altuve is slashing .256/.295/.372 and has six walks, 12 RBI and 14 strikeouts. He entered the game on Thursday in a 2-for-28 funk since April 28, so hopefully the big performance in the Bronx will keep Altuve rolling into the weekend. Altuve had a rough 2020 campaign, but he's looked better so far this year and remains a must-start.

  • Jose Altuve In 2-For-28 Rut

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve will try and snap out of a 2-for-28 slump heading into Wednesday's action against the Yankees. Altuve was hitting .347 on April 26 but the rut at the dish has seen his average plummet to .247. The season is full of ups and downs but there are several alarming aspects to Altuve's offense right now. His current .628 OPS is well below league average and he is a frightening 3-for-36 (.083) against right-handed pitching this season. Until he can improve against righties, putting Altuve into DFS lineups will be a volatile endeavor.

  • Jose Altuve Records Three Hits In Return

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve went 3-for-5 with two RBI, a run scored and a stolen base out of the leadoff spot in a 5-2 win over the Seattle Mariners on Monday in his return after missing nearly two weeks due to a positive COVID-19 test. In the process, he raised his batting average to .347 with his first three-hit game of the year since the second game of the season. Infielder Abraham Toro was optioned to the team's alternate training site and Pedro Baez was moved to the 60-day injured list to make room on the roster for Altuve. The 30-year-old had a very disappointing season last year, so fantasy managers should be ecstatic that Altuve was able to return on Monday without missing a beat. Hopefully, he'll continue to stay hot as a must-start fantasy asset.

  • Jose Altuve To Return To Lineup Monday Night

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve (COVID-19) will be back in the lineup on Monday night, according to MLB.com's Brian McTaggart. Houston's lineup against Seattle has not been released yet, but manager Dusty Baker said Altuve is scheduled to be back in action Monday. He has been out for 10 games while going through COVID-19 protocols, as he was one of a group of five Astros who have been out due to health and safety protocols. It will be good for managers to see Altuve back in the lineup, as he is slashing .318/.380/.455 over his first 11 games of the year.

  • Jose Altuve Expected To Return Early Next Week

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve is expected to make his return to the lineup early next week, per manager Dusty Baker. Altuve has been sidelined since mid-April on the COVID-19 injured list, as he was behind his teammates and unable to clear the protocols. The star infielder has been able to ramp up his activity lately, so the Astros' lineup- and fantasy managers- shouldn't be without him for too much longer. Altuve was batting .318 with 11 runs scored in his first 11 games.

  • Jose Altuve Still Not Back

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve (illness) did not appear on Saturday against the Angels. The slugger was rumored to return after being out of commission since the middle of April due to COVID-19. Although he is ready to go, he will need to be activated from the injured list before he can be reinserted back into the lineup, which could come over the next day or so.

  • Jose Altuve Could Return This Weekend

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve could make his return to the lineup this weekend. Altuve has been able to lift and run and is in good spirits, per manager Dusty Baker. Baker noted that the All-Star second baseman is doing much better, with a real chance of getting back into the lineup this weekend for the four-game series against the Angels, or early next week. The struggling Astros' lineup could use Altuve's presence back at the top, as he was off to a good start with a .318 average and 11 runs scored in his first 11 contests.

  • Jose Altuve Has Yet To Pass COVID-19 Protocols

Houston Astros' second baseman Jose Altuve has yet to pass COVID-19 protocols, per manager Dusty Baker. He "hasn't really passed the protocols yet," Baker said on a Tuesday morning radio show. Alex Bregman, Yordan Alvarez, Martn Maldonado, and Robel Garcia were all activated from the COVID-19 injured list earlier on Tuesday but Altuve will have to pass protocols before he can rejoin the team. The 30-year-old is batting .318/.380/.455 with one home run and five RBI over 44 at-bats to begin the season. The Astros should provide an update as soon as he's cleared to return to the team.

Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman (COVID-19), second baseman Jose Altuve (COVID-19), and designated hitter Yordan Alvarez (COVID-19) have been cleared to workout individually. All three guys were placed on the COVID-19 injured list, though it's still unclear if they tested positive or if they were close contacts. At any rate, it's a step in the right direction for three of the Astros' core guys, who should be returning to action sooner rather than later.

  • Jose Altuve, Alex Bregman Unlikely To Return For Road Trip

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve, third baseman Alex Bregman, designated hitter Yordan Alvarez, infielder Robel Garcia and catcher Martin Maldonado (COVID-19 protocols) are all unlikely to return during Houston's five-game road trip to Seattle and Colorado, according to Chandler Rome of the Houston Chronicle. The five players were placed on the COVID-19 injured list shortly before game time on Wednesday, and there is no indication currently if any of them have tested positive. For now, managers should assume all five players will miss the series in Seattle and Colorado, and they should continue to check for updates on their status for the home series against the Angels.

  • Jose Altuve Lands On COVID List

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve was placed on the injured list due to health and safety protocols on Wednesday. Altuve joins four other Astros who were placed on the COVID-List and the Astros have a day off on Thursday. Each player could return to action on Friday if they test negative but fantasy teams need to adjust accordingly in case they miss more time. Altuve is off to a strong start this season, slashing .318/.380/.455 with 11 runs scored through his first 11 games this season.

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve, catcher Martin Maldonado, third baseman Alex Bregman, designated hitter Yordan Alvarez and infielder Robel Garcia were placed on the COVID-19 injured list on Wednesday afternoon, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network. Heyman adds that there is word that there is one known person has potentially tested positive for COVID-19, but the team has not yet confirmed that report. Officially all five players were placed on the list due to health and safety protocols. As of 40 minutes before the scheduled first pitch of tonight's Astros-Tigers game, it is believed the game will still be played.

  • Jose Altuve Stays Hot With Two More Hits

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve went 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI in the Astros loss to the A's 7-3 on Saturday. Altuve plated a run with his second double of the season and now is slashing .351/.405/.514 through his first 37 at-bats this season. The former MVP has been a fantastic table-setter for a potent Houston offense and already has scored nine runs through 11 games. Altuve's days of elite power from the second base position may be behind him but will be a solid DFS pick over the next few games.

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve went 3-for-3 with two walks and four runs scored in the Astros 9-5 win over the A's on Friday. Altuve reached base in each of his five plate appearances and was a spark to an offense that posted nine runs. Through the first two games, the former MVP is hitting .571. The season has just begun and Altuve will try and stay hot heading into the weekend's slate of games.

  • Jose Altuve Scores Two Runs In Victory

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve went 1-for-4 with one walk and two runs scored in the Astros 8-1 victory over the A's on Opening Day. The former MVP is out to prove the doubters wrong this season, especially after slashing .219/.286/.344 during the shortened 2020 season. Altuve hit leadoff and set the table nicely, reaching base twice and scoring both times. The days of 20-plus home runs may be gone for Altuve but the veteran possesses enough skills to be an above-average leadoff man for a dangerous Astros offense.

  • Jose Altuve Homers Thursday

Houston Astros second baseman Jose Altuve went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Thursday's 3-0 win over the St. Louis Cardinals. Altuve has been cold this spring as he is now just 10-for-46 with two home runs, five RBI, and zero stolen bases. It has been a rough spring for Altuve and that isn't a great sign considering he is coming off a 2020 in which he posted a career-worst slash line of .219/.286/.344 across 192 at-bats. Fantasy players will certainly need to see a drastic rebound in his production for them to justify his current ADP of 89.
