  • Manny Machado Secures Another 20-Home Run Season

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado went 3-for-4 with a pair of home runs Friday against the Colorado Rockies. Machado was the only semblance of offense for the Friars in a 9-4 blowout loss. The 29-year-old continues his blistering hot streak, totalling a 1.174 OPS in July with eight homers. Overall, he carries a sturdy .283/.359/.524 slash with 20 dingers, nine steals and 139 runs-plus-RBI. Pocketing his seventh season with 20-plus homers, the Padres will need Machado to continue his offensive tirade to make the playoffs in a competitive NL West. Fantasy managers need not worry about his spot in starting lineups.

  • Manny Machado Ices Friars Victory

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado collected two knocks Tuesday against the Oakland Athletics, including a three-run home run. Machado capped a five-run fifth inning with an opposite-field blast off A's reliever Yusmeiro Petit, his 18th of the season. Since the calendar flipped to June, Machado has been scalding the baseball, boasting a .325 average with 12 homers, 36 runs and 40 RBI. The extended run has carried his season slash to .278/.356/.506 with 132 runs-plus-RBI and nine steals over 396 plate appearances to complement the round-trippers. His reputation as one of baseball and fantasy's most reliable players is being confirmed once again in 2021.

  • Manny Machado Hits 17th Homer In Loss

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado was one of the few bright spots for the Padres Sunday, going 2-for-4 with a solo home run off Marlins reliever Anthony Bender in a 9-3 loss to Miami. Machado has been excellent over the last month, slashing .337/.410/.625 with seven home runs in his last 30 games. With an .852 OPS, 17 homers, nine steals, 60 runs, and 68 RBI on the season in 338 at-bats, Machado is an excellent all-around producer. Fantasy managers should feel confident plugging him in week-in and week-out, especially as the Padres bulk up their offense ahead of the trade deadline.

  • Manny Machado Getting A Breather In Game 2

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado is not in the starting lineup for Game 2 of the doubleheader on Wednesday against the Atlanta Braves. Machado went 1-for-3 with a walk in the win in Game 1. The All-Star third baseman came into Wednesday's action with an excellent .276/.358/.492 slash line, .851 OPS, 16 home runs, 58 runs scored, 65 RBI and nine stolen bases in 319 at-bats. The 29-year-old is a must-start when he's in the lineup in all leagues. Ha-Seong Kim will take over at third and hit seventh on Wednesday against Braves right-hander Bryse Wilson. Kim has some modest power and speed, but he has only five homers, is hitting .209 (40-for-191) and hasn't gone deep since June 22. There's not a ton of upside with him in the seventh spot in single-year and daily formats in Game 2.

Entering the second half sizzling at the dish, the 29-year-old finishes the series 6-for-12 with five runs and RBI apiece. Overall, he's slashing .276/.360/.492 with nine steals and 123 runs-plus-RBI across 367 plate appearances to complement the power output. Amongst the fantasy leaders at the hot corner, Machado and the Padres will visit the Atlanta Braves at SunTrust Park where he owns a .918 OPS with three homers in 11 career games.

  • Manny Machado Amongst Baseball's Hottest Hitters

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado enters the second half as one of baseball's hottest hitters. Since June 15 (24 games), the five-time All-Star leads the NL with a 1.093 OPS. Through 353 plate appearances, Machado owns a .267/.354/.479 slash with 15 bombs, nine steals and 113 runs-plus-RBI, doing most of his damage in the last month-plus after an uneven start to 2021. The 29-year-old has again embodied the consistency fantasy managers crave, contributing towards all categories. Machado and the Friars will open with a weekend series at Nationals Park against the Washington Nationals, where he owns a lifetime .937 OPS with four homers in 16 contests.

  • Manny Machado Pockets Three Knocks On His Birthday

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado went 3-for-4 Tuesday against the Washington Nationals, scoring three runs and collecting an RBI. The newly minted 29-year-old stung two doubles on his birthday to continue his extended run. Since June 1, Machado has hit in 24 of 32 games, batting .324 with nine homers. After an uneven start to 2021, Machado is now slashing .268/.351/.488 with 15 dingers, nine steals and 109 runs-plus-RBI over 333 plate appearances. With his elite batted-ball skills and balanced fantasy contributions, he's a worthwhile candidate as a top-5 player at the hot corner entering the second half.

  • Manny Machado Annihilates Two Baseballs In Philly

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado reached base in all five plate appearances Sunday against the Philadelphia Phillies, pummelling three home runs and walking thrice, scoring three runs and driving in five. Machado victimized Phillies starter Vince Velasquez twice with a two-run shot in the first inning before doubling down with a three-run tater in the third frame. The 28-year-old continues hammering the baseball and the results are starting to follow with nine dingers since June 1. Overall, Machado is slashing .264/.346/.482 with 15 homers, nine steals and 104 runs-plus-RBI across 324 plate appearances. As a fantasy player, he's as consistent and balanced as they come.

  • Manny Machado Gets Day Off Sunday

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's matchup with the Diamondbacks. This looks to just be a day off for Machado, who has played in 18 straight games for San Diego. He's been having a solid year at the plate, slashing .262/.339/.462 with 12 homers, eight steals, 49 RBI and 39 runs scored over 71 games. With Machado out, Ha-Seong Kim is getting the nod at third and is batting seventh against Arizona.

  • Manny Machado Crushes Sixth Homer In June

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored Wednesday against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Machado extended his dominance over starter Trevor Bauer, going back-to-back with Jake Cronenworth in the first frame. Machado is now batting .520 with five homers in 25 at-bats against the right-hander. After snapping a seven-game hitting streak the prior evening, Machado continued his hot June, registering a .966 OPS this month with six round-trippers. Overall, he's performed below his lofty expectations, slashing .258/.338/.464 with 12 homers, eight steals and 86 runs-plus-RBI over 290 plate appearances. Smashing the ball with a 56 percent hard-hit rate and adding a bonus steals element with savvy baserunning, the 28-year-old looks poised for a strong summer.

  • Manny Machado Provides Early Spark

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado launched a three-run homer Monday against the Los Angeles Dodgers as part of a three-hit night. He also stole his eighth bag of the season. Machado made things easy for the Friars, taking starter Julio Urias deep in the first inning in the eventual 6-2 victory. The 28-year-old is currently enjoying a seven-game hitting streak, batting .440 (11-for-25) with six extra-base hits while posting a .975 OPS in June. Overall, Machado has endured an uneven season, slashing .258/.340/.459 with 11 homers, eight steals and 83 runs-plus-RBI over 282 plate appearances. Still hitting the ball extremely hard, fantasy managers should keep the faith that Machado will retain his reputation as an all-around contributor.

  • Manny Machado Heating Up In June

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado went 1-for-3 with a walk and solo home run Thursday against the Cincinnati Reds. The 28-year-old has heated up lately, collecting knocks in eight of his past 10 contests and touting an .865 OPS in June. Despite a hard-hit rate in the 94th percentile, Machado has coasted to an uneven .243/.328/.435 slash with 10 long balls, six steals and 73 runs-plus-RBI over 265 plate appearances. While he's demonstrated more patience this year, fantasy managers would certainly prefer Machado rediscover his slugger tendencies to return the early round fantasy cost he commanded this offseason.

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado followed up Fernando Tatis Jr.'s grand slam with a home run of his own in the seventh inning Sunday, taking New York Mets reliever Jacob Barnes deep for his ninth long-ball of the season. Machado also singled in four at-bats. Machado has performed typically will over his last 15 games, slashing .296/.344/.519 with three home runs, seven runs scored, and 10 RBI in that span. With his nine homers and six steals on the year, Machado is an every-category fantasy contributor.

  • Manny Machado Goes Yard And Pockets Three RBI

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado finished 2-for-3 with a homer and three RBI Monday against the Chicago Cubs. Machado pocketed a pair of sacrifice flies to build the Friars lead before socking a solo dinger in the eighth inning to help ice the 9-4 victory. The 28-year-old continues to hit the ball hard but hasn't found his normal consistency, slashing an uneven .239/.328/.421 with eight homers, six steals, and 64 runs-plus-RBI over 229 plate appearances. While his 1.5 strikeout-to-walk ratio are within career norms, he's been less aggressive with just a 65 percent zone-swing percentage. Fantasy managers that drafted Machado in the early rounds are certainly disappointed, but the indicators suggest the headline numbers should rebound.

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado (shoulder) is expected back for the weekend series against the Houston Astros. Out since May 20, Machado has been doing baseball activities all week and roped a pinch-hit RBI double Thursday against the Milwaukee Brewers. The 28-year-old has slashed just .228/.324/.401 this season with six homers, six steals and 51 runs-plus-RBI in 187 plate appearances but his return should be welcomed for all fantasy managers. With an elite average exit velocity of 93.2 mph, he's destined to turn things around.

  • Manny Machado To Miss His Seventh Straight Game

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado (shoulder) will miss his seventh consecutive game on Thursday as the team takes on Adrian Houser and the Milwaukee Brewers. Ha-Seong Kim is getting another start at third base and batting eighth in the game. Machado has been out with May 19 with a shoulder injury. The fact that he hasn't been put on the injured list would seem to suggest that the team expects him back soon, but he apparently still needs at least another day to recover. His next chance for a return will be on Friday against Framber Valdez and the Houston Astros.

  • Manny Machado Still Out But Not Expected To Land On IL

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado (shoulder) is expected to take batting practice Tuesday and could be available off the bench. Machado has been out since May 20 and the Friars believe it's not serious enough for an IL stint. The 28-year-old has had an uneven year, slashing .225/.323/.394 with six homers, six steals and 50 runs-plus-RBI across 186 plate appearances but continues to be amongst the league leaders in hard contact. Fantasy managers should optimistically expect Machado back before the weekend. Infielder Ha-Seong Kim will continue filling in at the hot corner. With just a .497 OPS against right-handers, Kim isn't a recommended DFS play against Milwaukee Brewers starter Corbin Burnes.

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado (shoulder) is dealing with shoulder tightness, which has kept him out of the lineup for two straight games, according to Shaun O'Neill of MLB.com. Manager Jayce Tingler said that Machado could play if needed, but the team is opting to take a more long-term view on Machado to make sure he's healthy for the end of the season. • Manny Machado Getting The Day Off On Friday

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado is getting the day off on Friday as the team faces Chris Flexen and the Seattle Mariners. Ha-Seong Kim is getting the start at third base and batting eighth in the game. Machado has gone 0-for-8 over his last two games and is slashing just .200/.300/.433 throughout the month of May. Despite the recent struggles, there's a lot to like about Machado's peripherals this year. His 53.8% hard-hit rate and 93.2 mph average exit velocity are career-best marks. He also has a career-best 12.9% walk rate this year. He's currently being held back by an abnormally low 11.5% HR/FB rate, down from 20.5% last year and 16.8% the year before. Expect to see better things ahead from the Padres slugger.

  • Manny Machado Smacks Sixth Homer

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado went 2-for-4 with a home run and double Monday against the Colorado Rockies. Machado blasted a two-run shot off starter Jon Gray in the first inning to kickstart the 7-0 blowout victory. Despite a hard-hit rate and average exit velocity near the top of the league, Machado holds a modest .237/.337/.414 slash with six homers, six steals and 50 runs-plus-RBI through 178 plate appearances. Although he's hit more grounders, Machado's quality batted balls suggest his fortunes should turn around. Even with the erratic numbers, the bonus speed component keeps him a high-end fantasy asset in all formats.

  • Manny Machado Erupts At Coors Field

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado went 2-for-4 with a home run, triple, five RBI and two runs scored Tuesday against the Colorado Rockies. Entering Coors Field with just five hits in May, Machado got right with a two-run blast in the fifth inning followed by a bases-clearing three-bagger one frame later. Machado was in some pain after fouling a ball off his left leg in his final at-bat but should be considered day-to-day. The 28-year-old has been inconsistent in 2021, slashing .237/.331/.405 with five homers, five steals and 41 runs-plus-RBI in 151 plate appearances. He should remain locked in fantasy lineups if he starts in Wednesday's doubleheader against the Rockies.
