  • Manny Machado Homers For Dominican Republic Monday

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado played his part offensively Monday in Team Dominican Republic's 6-1 World Baseball Classic win over Team Nicaragua. Machado went 2-for-5 with a double and a solo home run, his first of the spring. The 30-year-old had an outstanding 2022 season, slashing .298/.366/.531 with 32 HR, 102 RBI, and nine stolen bases. He is currently being drafted at about pick 14 overall, making him the third baseman drafted. The position is quite top-heavy and shallow overall, so Machado should be able to provide ample fantasy value once again in 2023.

  • Padres, Manny Machado Finalizing 11-Year Extension

The San Diego Padres and star third baseman Manny Machado are finalizing an 11-year, $350 million contract extension on Sunday, according to sources familiar with the deal. Machado has helped turn around the franchise and was planning on opting out of his previous deal after the 2023 season. The 30-year-old All-Star had six years and $180 million left on his previous deal with the Friars. Machado should finish his career in San Diego now as the franchise looks to win their first championship. In 2022, he hit .298/.366/.531 with an .898 OPS, 32 home runs, 102 RBI, 100 runs scored and nine stolen bases in 150 games in his fourth year with the Padres. Machado is easily a top-20 fantasy asset in SD's stacked lineup.

  • Padres, Manny Machado Still Discussing Extension

The Padres and Manny Machado remain in discussions regarding a potential long-term contract extension, reports Dennis Lin of the Athletic. There’s no indication an agreement is likely, through it comes as something of a surprise to hear conversations are still ongoing. Machado implied last week he’d cut talks off when the sides hadn’t agreed to a deal…

  • Manny Machado Padres' "Top Priority"

While not going into much detail, San Diego Padres owner Peter Seidler said Tuesday that third baseman Manny Machado is the team's "top priority". Machado recently informed the team that he intends to opt out of the remaining five years, $150 million of his contract after the 2023 season unless an extension or restructuring of that contract is agreed upon. The Padres do seem open to negotiating during the season. It makes sense that Machado, who is 30 years old, would look to get an even richer deal after slashing .298/.366/.531 with 32 home runs, 102 RBI, and nine steals in 2022 while also being an excellent fielder. His fantasy value will be high regardless of where he plays, but he will certainly benefit from hitting in a strong lineup like the Padres'.

  • Manny Machado Planning To Exercise Opt-Out Following 2023 Season

Padres superstar Manny Machado today confirmed to reporters, including Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post, that he plans on opting out of the remainder of his contract following the 2023 season. Machado signed his current 10-year, $300MM agreement with San Diego ahead of the 2019 season, and in opting out would leave five years, $150MM…

  • Manny Machado Plans To Opt Out Of Contract

San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado publicly confirmed that he's told the team that he plans to opt out of his contract. He declined to get into negotiations on a potential long-term extension with the team, but he did say that he'd still like to play for the organization as long as new teammate Nelson Cruz has. Machado has a 10-year, $300 million contract that runs through the 2028 season, but he has an opt-out clause after the 2023 season and plans to use it. The Padres could easily figure out a lucrative long-term extension to keep the 30-year-old in town, but how much money do they actually have left available to them? Machado is one of the best hitters in the game in one of the best lineups in the game. He is ranked as the No. 15 overall fantasy player by RotoBaller for the 2023 season, so he won't last long in fantasy drafts.

  • Padres Expected To Explore Extension With Manny Machado Soon

The San Diego Padres are expected to explore a long-term contract extension with franchise third baseman Manny Machado before Opening Day. Machado can opt out of his contract after the 2023 season, and making him a Padre for the rest of his career might require a new deal of at least six or seven years with an average annual value exceeding $30 million. Owner Peter Seidler isn't afraid to empty his pockets and has already said he plans to keep Machado for the long haul. If the Padres don't want to let one of the best all-around hitters reach the open market next offseason, they'll probably need to lock Machado in before the start of the season. In fantasy drafts, Machado should come off the board early in the second round.
