  • Dodgers Rumors: Kershaw, Martinez, Ohtani

    Headshot for Clayton Kershaw

The Dodgers opted not to issue a qualifying offer to designated hitter J.D. Martinez and aren’t sure exactly when fellow free agent Clayton Kershaw will be cleared to pitch next season on the heels of shoulder surgery, but there’s some interest in keeping both players around for the 2024 campaign. President of baseball ops Andrew…

  • J.D. Martinez Doesn't Receive Qualifying Offer From Dodgers

    Headshot for J.D. Martinez

The Los Angeles Dodgers did not extend a $20.325 million qualifying offer to designated hitter J.D. Martinez, according to a source. It means that the Dodgers won't receive draft-pick compensation if Martinez signs elsewhere in free agency. The Dodgers need to keep the DH spot clear for now given their interest in free-agent two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani. Martinez is 36 years old and is a full-time DH at this point in his career, but he should still attract plenty of interest on the open market this offseason after rebounding in 2023 with the Dodgers to the tune of a .271/.321/.572 slash line, .893 OPS, 33 home runs, 27 doubles, two triples, 103 RBI and 61 runs scored in 113 games. The six-time All-Star slugger derived a lot of his fantasy value from being in the middle of a loaded Dodgers lineup, but he still is a high-end power and run-producing target in fantasy.

  • Which Draft Picks Each Team Would Receive For Losing A Qualified Free Agent

    Headshot for Cody Bellinger

The qualifying offer is one of the key mechanisms of free agent season, as teams have until five days after the end of the World Series to decide whether or not to issue the one-year contract (this winter reportedly worth around $20.5MM) to eligible free agents.  If a player has played with his team throughout…

  • Offseason Outlook: Los Angeles Dodgers

    Headshot for Yency Almonte

A relatively quiet offseason a year ago didn’t stop the Dodgers from continuing their incredible run of regular season success. But after another disappointing playoff performance, perhaps they will be more aggressive this winter. There are many ways to do that, but the big question is whether or not they land the most unique free…

Dodgers president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman met with the media (including Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times) on Tuesday afternoon, alongside GM Brandon Gomes. The two executives discussed the disappointing conclusion to another Dodgers season, potential changes to the major league coaching staff, and the team’s offseason plans. • Freddie Freeman Pours In Three More Hits Friday

    Headshot for Freddie Freeman

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, and three runs scored in Friday's 6-2 win over the San Francisco Giants. Freeman scored a run after a first-inning single before whacking a solo shot in the third frame. He doubled and came around for another during the sixth on a J.D. Martinez homer to help the Dodgers pull away a bit. Another game with three knocks or greater raises the tally to 21 on the campaign for the seven-time All-Star, who absolutely crushed it in his second year with LA. Freeman is slashing a ludicrous .334/.412/.572 with 29 round-trippers, 102 RBI, 131 runs scored, and 23 stolen bases in 721 trips to the plate. He's one double short of being the first to reach 60 since 1936.

  • J.D. Martinez Goes Deep Twice In Win Over Tigers

    Headshot for J.D. Martinez

Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter J.D. Martinez was seeing the ball well in Monday night's 8-3 win over the visiting Detroit Tigers. Martinez finished the team's 92 win of the year by going 3-for-4 with two home runs, five RBI, two runs scored and a strikeout. The time off that Martinez took in August due to a lingering hamstring issue appears to have done him some good, as he's gone 15-for-48 (.313) with three home runs, two doubles, 15 RBI and seven runs scored in 13 starts since coming off the injured list on Aug. 15. The six-time All-Star needs just two more home runs to reach the 30-homer mark for the fifth time in his career. Martinez is hitting .266/.318/.556 overall with an .873 OPS, 24 doubles, two triples, 91 RBI and 55 runs scored in 101 games in his first year in LA.

  • J.D. Martinez Returns From Stint On 10-Day IL

    Headshot for J.D. Martinez

Los Angeles Dodgers designated hitter J.D. Martinez (groin) has been activated from the 10-day injured list following a successful rehab assignment. In a corresponding move, infielder Michael Busch was optioned to Triple-A. The 36-year-old Martinez is enjoying a strong season in which he has 25 homers, a .370 xwOBA, a .551 xSLG, and a 54.7 percent hard-hit rate. Needless to say, his return is great news for the Dodgers and fantasy managers alike.
