  • Bryce Harper Won't Open Season On 60-Day Injured List

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper (elbow) will not open the 2023 regular season on the 60-day injured list, according to president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski. The Phillies can put Harper on the 60-day IL at any time, if needed, retroactive to Opening Day. It doesn't mean that he'll be back earlier than anticipated around midseason, but it keeps the Phillies' options open. The 30-year-old former MVP is recovering from Tommy John surgery on his right elbow and isn't expected to make his 2023 debut until near the end of the first half of the season, and he's unsure if he'll even play the outfield at all this year. Harper is still worth stashing in all fantasy leagues, and managers will be hoping he can pick up right where he left off last postseason at the plate.

  • Bryce Harper Hits Off Tee

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Bryce Harper (elbow) hit off a tee in camp on Thursday, according to manager Rob Thomson. Harper will hit off a tee every other day for now as he progresses in his rehab from Tommy John surgery. The expectation is that Harper will be able to join the Phillies as their full-time designated hitter right around the All-Star break in 2023, but he might not be able to return to right field until 2024. The 30-year-old former National League MVP did plenty of damage at the plate last year while playing through his right elbow injury before having surgery in the offseason, so fantasy managers will be crossing their fingers that he can pick up where he left off when he makes his 2023 season debut this summer.

  • Bryce Harper Progresses To Hitting Off Tee

Phillies star Bryce Harper hit from a tee today, tweets Alex Coffey of the Philadelphia Inquirer. He’s expected to take swings every other day in the near future as he continues rehabbing from November’s Tommy John surgery. It marked Harper’s first swings since going under the knife. Manager Rob Thomson told reporters the club isn’t ruling…

  • Bryce Harper Unsure If He'll Play Outfield In 2023

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper (elbow) said he misses playing right field but has no idea if he'll be able to play in the outfield in 2023 after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He'll know more about his timeline for a return after he has a physical on Thursday. Harper is just now reporting to spring training with the team after having elbow reconstruction surgery last November. The 30-year-old former National League MVP is expected to return as the team's full-time designated hitter right around the All-Star break, but there's no guarantee that he'll be playing on defense in 2023. If he doesn't play the field at all, he'll lose his outfield eligibility in fantasy, which is something to think about for 2024.

  • Bryce Harper Cleared For "Dry Swinging"

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper (elbow) has been cleared for "dry swinging"" and is due to arrive in Phillies camp on or around March 8-9, according to president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski. Harper continues to recover from Tommy John surgery on his right elbow. Even though he'll rejoin the team at spring training soon, the 30-year-old former MVP probably won't be able to return to game action as a designated hitter for the Phillies until right around the All-Star break. Missing half the season means Harper obviously won't be able to help fantasy squads for a while, but he's still worth drafting and stashing in all leagues. He is ranked as RotoBaller's No. 40 fantasy outfielder despite his injury.

  • Bryce Harper Won't Be In Camp Until March

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper (elbow) will not arrive at spring training with the team until early March, according to manager Rob Thomson. It's not much of a surprise after Harper had Tommy John surgery on his right elbow in late November. The 30-year-old former MVP is expected to be out for most of the first half of the 2023 season, which obviously means his fantasy value this year will take a huge hit. He'll come back first as a designated hitter before eventually returning to starting right field duties for the Phils. Despite the fact that Harper is going to miss around half of the season, he's still ranked as RotoBaller's No. 39 outfielder in fantasy. Harper is worth stashing in all leagues, and those that draft him will be hoping he can pick up right where he left off.

  • Players That Could Move To The 60-Day IL Once Spring Training Begins

Just about every baseball team has a full 40-man roster now, with the Astros the only team with an open spot at the moment. That means that just about every transaction, be it a free agent signing or a waiver claim, requires a corresponding move. However, that could soon change as the injured list is…

  • Bryce Harper To Start Swinging Around End Of March

Philadelphia Phillies general manager Dave Dombrowski said that outfielder Bryce Harper's (elbow) rehab has been going well and that Harper should start swinging a bat around the end of March. Dombrowski also said that Harper should be back in the lineup right around the All-Star game, which fits with the original timeline that the Phillies gave after he had Tommy John surgery in November. When the former MVP slugger does return to the lineup, it will be as the designated hitter. Harper still hit a strong .286 with an .877 OPS in 99 games for the Phillies in 2022, but his power was down with only 18 home runs as a result of his elbow injury that he played through. But when he's right, he's a game-changer on offense for the Phils and fantasy managers alike.
