  • Bryce Harper Slugs Ninth-Inning, Game-Tying Homer Monday Afternoon

    Headshot for Bryce Harper

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Bryce Harper clubbed a two-run home run with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning to force extra innings against the Atlanta Braves in Game 1 of Monday's doubleheader. Unfortunately, the Braves scored a pair of 10th-inning runs in an eventual 10-8 triumph over their National League East rivals. Harper added a single, two walks, and an additional two runs scored on the afternoon. The two-time NL MVP is now up to a .296 average with 16 home runs, 71 runs, 60 RBI, nine stolen bases, and an .880 OPS across 109 games after a late start to the season due to Tommy John surgery. Harper is hitting third as the Phillies' designated hitter in the nightcap of Monday's twin bill.

  • Bryce Harper Blasts 300th Career Home Run

    Headshot for Bryce Harper

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper achieved a significant accolade during Wednesday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. The left-handed slugger blasted his 300th career home run off left-hander Matt Moore. Harper becomes the 158th player to reach 300 home runs and the 28th to do it before or during his age-30 season. The superstar outfielder now has 15 home runs in only 99 games this season. His impressive play has been a big reason why the Phillies are sitting at the top of the National League Wild Card right now.

  • Bryce Harper Cracks A Home Run And Collects Three RBI Wednesday

    Headshot for Bryce Harper

Philadelphia Phillies designated hitter Bryce Harper was 2-for-4 at the plate with a home run and three RBI, losing 8-6 to the Giants in extra innings on Wednesday. Harper is getting his power stroke back as he has slugged seven homers in August while recovering from shoulder surgery. In the last seven Phillies contests, the 30-year-old has smacked five home runs, logged 12 hits and nine RBI while striking out only twice in 26 trips to the batters box.

  • Bryce Harper Goes Off Wednesday

    Headshot for Bryce Harper

Philadelphia Phillies first baseman/designated hitter Bryce Harper blew up at the plate in the team's 9-4 win over the Toronto Blue Jays on Wednesday, going 3-for-4 with two home runs, two RBI, three runs scored and a walk. Games like this have been very rare for Harper in 2023, and it's actually his first multi-homer game of the season. The 30-year-old has managed to hit for average this year (.291), but the power has been seriously lacking -- he's now up to only nine long balls on the year after hitting two on Wednesday night. The former MVP could be ready to finish with a bang in 2023, though, as he's hitting .302 (16-for-53) with four homers, six doubles, nine RBI and 10 runs scored in 14 starts so far in August.

  • Bryce Harper Not Playing Against Twins

    Headshot for Bryce Harper

Philadelphia Phillies first baseman/designated hitter Bryce Harper (back) is out of the starting lineup on Friday with the team facing the visiting Minnesota Twins. Alec Bohm will play first base and bat second, while Edmundo Sosa starts at the hot corner and hits eighth against Twins left-hander Dallas Keuchel. Back spasms knocked Harper out of Thursday's game early against the Washington Nationals, and he'll take a seat for the series opener against Minnesota. It's unclear if this is an injured-list situation for the 30-year-old former MVP just yet, so consider him day-to-day for now. Harper got a late start to the season after recovering from right-elbow surgery. He's hitting a strong .293 (91-for-311), but perhaps his elbow is the reason why his power is down this year (just seven homers).

  • Bryce Harper Leaves Early With Back Spasm

    Headshot for Bryce Harper

Philadelphia Phillies first baseman/outfielder Bryce Harper (back) left Thursday's win over the Washington Nationals early due to a mid-back spasm. Harper is undergoing further evaluation and should be considered day-to-day for now. Before departing the contest prematurely, Harper went 0-for-1 with a walk before being replaced at first base by Alec Bohm. Even if Harper is fine and doesn't go on the injured list, there's a good bet he won't be in Philly's lineup on Friday for the start of a series against the visiting Minnesota Twins. The 30-year-old former MVP came into Thursday's game hitting a strong .294 (91-for-310) with a great .380 on-base percentage, but his power has been down with only seven home runs and 38 RBI in 82 games after returning from surgery on his right elbow in the offseason.

  • Bryce Harper Slugs Sixth Homer In Win

    Headshot for Bryce Harper

Philadelphia Phillies first baseman/designated hitter Bryce Harper went 3-for-4 with a two-run home run and a double in Saturday's 9-6 win over the Kansas City Royals. The 30-year-old started off his big night with a first-inning single before hitting a third-inning double. Harper then smacked a fifth-inning two-run bomb to help Philly close the gap on the scoreboard. The two-time NL MVP is providing plenty of average while batting .296, but fantasy managers are hoping Saturday's long ball sparks a power surge for Harper. He holds just six big flies and 34 RBI, but Harper does show 19 doubles through 294 at-bats this season.

  • Bryce Harper Playing First Base Friday

    Headshot for Bryce Harper

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Bryce Harper (elbow) is playing first base for the first time in his career on Friday while hitting cleanup against Cleveland Guardians right-hander Gavin Williams. The Phillies teased late last week that Harper could be making his debut at the cold corner soon, and that day has finally come. Due to surgery on his right elbow in the offseason, the 30-year-old left-handed slugger has only served as the team's DH to this point. It remains to be seen if Harper will make enough starts at first to gain eligibility there in fantasy, but it's a good sign that his elbow is healing properly. For now, his fantasy managers just want to see more power, as he's hit just four homers in 234 at-bats in 2023.

  • Bryce Harper Still In DH Role

    Headshot for Bryce Harper

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper will serve as the designated hitter and bat cleanup for the Phils on Tuesday against the Milwaukee Brewers and right-hander Julio Teheran. The Phillies were saying there was a chance that Harper would play defense at first base last weekend against the San Diego Padres for the first time all year, but that didn't happen, and he'll remain the DH to begin a series against Milwaukee on Tuesday. The 30-year-old former MVP is hitting a strong .300 (67-for-223) on the year, but he has only four home runs and 26 RBI in 60 games. He did, however, go deep on Saturday for the first time in 38 games, so hopefully that will get his power game going finally in 2023.

  • Bryce Harper Out Against Lefty In Game 1 Of Doubleheader

    Headshot for Bryce Harper

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Bryce Harper is out of the lineup for Game 1 of a doubleheader on Saturday against the San Diego Padres and left-hander Blake Snell. Kyle Schwarber will take over as the DH and will hit leadoff, with Brandon Marsh in left field and batting eighth. Rookie Johan Rojas will start in center and bat ninth. The 30-year-old Harper is reportedly getting close to playing first base, and it could happen as soon as Game 2 on Saturday. He went 1-for-4 with a strikeout in Friday's loss to the Padres and is hitting .290 (62-for-214) on the year, but fantasy managers have been frustrated with his lack of power (only three homers and 23 RBI).

  • Bryce Harper Back In The Lineup To Start Second Half

    Headshot for Bryce Harper

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Bryce Harper (elbow) is back in the designated hitter spot and is batting cleanup on Friday against the San Diego Padres and right-hander Yu Darvish to start the second half of the season. Harper missed the first-half finale last Sunday after getting hit by a pitch on his surgically repaired right elbow, but X-rays showed up negative and he's fine. The 30-year-old former MVP could also play defense at first base for the first time during this weekend's four-game series against the Padres. Fantasy managers are hoping Harper will show more power in the second half after he hit just three long balls in 210 at-bats in the first half, although they can't complain about his .290 average or .386 on-base percentage.

  • Bryce Harper Could Be Available To Pinch Hit On Sunday

    Headshot for Bryce Harper

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Bryce Harper (elbow) could be available to pinch hit on Sunday against the Miami Marlins. Harper was hit with a pitch in his surgically-repaired right elbow during Saturday's contest. The X-rays were negative so apparently he's just dealing with soreness at the moment. In an ideal world, the Phillies would just rest him on Sunday and give him a full five days during the All-Star break. Either way, it's nice to hear he's dealing with soreness and not something more serious.

  • Bryce Harper Missing From Sunday's Lineup

    Headshot for Bryce Harper

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder/designated hitter Bryce Harper (elbow) is not starting on Sunday against the Miami Marlins after having to leave Saturday's game early after he was hit by a pitch on his surgically repaired right elbow. Thankfully, X-rays came back negative on the 30-year-old, and with the All-Star break coming up next week, Harper may only have to miss one game with the elbow injury. Fantasy managers were expecting much more from the former MVP in the first half of the season, although he did have a strong .290 batting average (61-for-210). However, the lack of power (three home runs and 23 RBI) is concerning, and it could be related to his right-elbow surgery after last season. Kyle Schwarber is serving as the DH and hitting leadoff on Sunday against Marlins left-hander Jesus Luzardo.

  • X-Rays Come Back Negative For Bryce Harper

    Headshot for Bryce Harper

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper (elbow) underwent x-rays on his injured elbow after Saturday's contest against the Marlins, which returned negative. The 30-year-old was pulled from Saturday's game after being hit by a pitch. Harper got hit in the same elbow that he underwent Tommy John surgery during the offseason. According to Phillies manager Rob Thomson, Harper is sore, and it's unclear if he will play in the Sunday series finale versus the Marlins. He is considered day-to-day. With the All-Star break starting Monday, the Phillies will likely rest their star player. Fantasy managers will have to check back on Sunday to see if Harper is starting before inserting him into their lineups.

  • Bryce Harper Pulled Early On Saturday

    Headshot for Bryce Harper

Philadelphia Phillies outfielder Bryce Harper (elbow) was forced to exit early during Saturday's game against the Miami Marlins. The superstar slugger was hit by a pitch in his surgically repaired right elbow during the third inning of Saturday's game. Harper appeared to be in considerable pain, but was able to stay in the game to run the bases. The expectation is the team will have Harper undergo further testing to determine the severity of the issue. It wouldn't be shocking to see Harper sit out until after the All-Star break. Fantasy managers will have to check back later for another update on his status.
