  • Phillies Reinstate Jean Segura, Release Didi Gregorius

The Philadelphia Phillies reinstated second baseman Jean Segura (finger) from the 60-day injured list. In corresponding moves, the team activated right-hander Kyle Gibson from the bereavement list and released shortstop Didi Gregorius. Segura is back at the keystone and is hitting seventh on Thursday against Washington Nationals right-hander Paolo Espino, so fantasy managers need to get him back into their starting lineups in single-year formats. Segura has been out for two months after having surgery to fix a fractured right index finger. The 32-year-old should return to regular starting duties at second base. Gregorius got the axe after hitting only .210 with one homer in 214 at-bats. Rookie Bryson Stott should take over as the everyday shortstop now that Segura is back.

  • Phillies Hope Jean Segura Will Return Thursday

The Philadelphia Phillies remain hopeful that second baseman Jean Segura (finger) will return from the 60-day injured list on Thursday. Interim manager Rob Thomson said Segura might hit lower in the lineup upon his return. He's been out since May 31 with a broken right index finger, but fantasy managers should be getting him back this week. The 32-year-old middle infielder went 1-for-4 with an RBI, a stolen base and a walk in a minor league rehab game for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday, and he looks set to return to the big-league lineup. He should return to his starting role at the keystone for the Phillies and needs to be rostered in all fantasy leagues. Before his injury, Segura was hitting .275/.324/.407 with six home runs, 19 RBI, 22 runs scored and nine stolen bases in 167 at-bats.

  • Jean Segura To Begin Rehab Assignment Tuesday

Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Jean Segura (finger) will begin a minor league rehab assignment with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Tuesday night, according to interim manager Rob Thomson. Segura underwent surgery to fix a fractured right index finger in early June, and it sounds as if he's nearing a return to the majors. He'll be eligible to return from the injured list on Aug. 2, and as long as he doesn't have a setback in the minors, he could return when eligible. Before breaking his finger, the 32-year-old veteran Dominican was slashing .275/.324/.407 with six home runs, 19 RBI, 22 runs scored and eight stolen bases in 179 plate appearances over 44 games, making him valuable in all fantasy formats.

  • Jean Segura Takes Grounders On Tuesday

Philadelphia Phillies infielder Jean Segura (finger) was out on the field taking ground balls prior to the team's game against the Washington Nationals on Tuesday. However, he was not throwing the ball. Segura, who underwent surgery on his broken right index finger about a month ago, recently had pins removed from his finger. When he first landed on the injured list, he was given a timetable of 10 to 12 weeks and that has remained the target. The 32-year-old veteran was off to a solid start to the year prior to the injury. Over 44 games, he slashed .275/.324/.407 with six home runs, eight stolen bases, 19 RBI and 22 runs. Stay tuned for further updates as he continues to ramp up his activities.

  • Jean Segura Expected To Be Out 10-12 Weeks

Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Jean Segura (finger) was diagnosed with a fractured right index finger and he was placed on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday. According to Jim Salisbury of NBC Sports Philly, Segura will be out for 10 to 12 weeks. The 32-year-old veteran has been a key contributor to the team's offense per usual this year. Over 44 games, he's slashed .275/.324/.407 with six home runs, eight stolen bases, 19 RBI and 22 runs. Johan Camargo is getting the start at second base on Wednesday and he should see increased playing time going forward. We could also see rookie Bryson Stott get another chance at steady playing time.

  • Jean Segura Goes On Injured List

The Philadelphia Phillies placed second baseman Jean Segura (finger) on the 10-day injured list on Wednesday with a fracture of his right index finger and recalled left-hander Cristopher Sanchez and infielder Nick Maton from Triple-A Lehigh Valley in corresponding moves. Outfielder Roman Quinn was also designated for assignment. X-rays revealed that Segura fractured his finger while attempting a bunt on Tuesday night. The 32-year-old will almost certainly be out for longer than 10 days, and he'll leave behind a .275/.324/.407 slash line with six homers, 19 RBI, 22 steals and eight stolen bases. Keep him stashed everywhere. In his absence, Bryson Stott and Johan Camargo should see most of the middle-infield work. Maton is starting at the 6 and is batting ninth on Wednesday against San Francisco Giants left-hander Carlos Rodon.

  • Jean Segura Fractures Right Index Finger Tuesday

Philadelphia Phillies manager Joe Girardi said the X-rays revealed that second baseman Jean Segura (finger) fractured his right index finger in Tuesday's 7-4 extra-innings loss to the Giants. Segura was squaring up to bunt and was struck in the right hand. Nothing has been mentioned about Segura needing to spend time on the injured list, but fantasy managers may want to prepare to not have him for some games given the X-ray results. The 32-year-old was off to a good start to the season, slashing .275/.324/.407 with six home runs, 19 RBI, and eight stolen bases. Bryson Stott may see more time in Segura's absence, but he has slashed just .123/.179/.151 this season.

  • Jean Segura Exits Tuesday's Game Early After HBP

Philadelphia Phillies shortstop Jean Segura (hand) exited Tuesday's game against the San Francisco Giants after getting hit in the right hand by a pitch. He was squaring up to bunt and the ball hit him in the right hand during the seventh inning. The 32-year-old went 1-for-3 with a run scored before exiting. The severity of Segura's injury is unknown at this time, so fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day until further notice. He will most likely undergo X-rays, and more information about his hand injury will be known after the game. Bryson Stott replaced him in the game. If Segura is forced to miss any games, Stott would see an uptick in at-bats.

  • Jean Segura Out Sick Thursday

Philadelphia Phillies second baseman Jean Segura (illness) is out of the starting lineup on Thursday against the San Diego Padres with a cold. It's unclear if he'll be available to pinch hit in the game. The 32-year-old could be back in the lineup as soon as Friday. Segura has been great for his fantasy managers this year, hitting .297/.352/.475 with an .826 OPS, six home runs, 14 RBI, 19 runs scored and five stolen bases in 31 games played. Consider him day-to-day for now. Johan Camargo is manning the keystone on Thursday and is hitting seventh against Padres right-hander Yu Darvish. Camargo does have three home runs and 11 RBI as a utility man for the Phils, but he has a tough matchup against Darvish.
