  • Padres Still Considering Tommy Pham

    Headshot for Tommy Pham

The San Diego Padres are still considering signing free-agent outfielder Tommy Pham, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman. San Diego remains linked to Pham after the two sides were reportedly close to reaching an agreement in mid-March, and the 36-year-old left fielder could supply some depth to the Padres' thin outfield. As long as the switch-hitting Jurickson Profar, who is batting .269 with an .809 OPS and three RBI covering 26 at-bats this season, is playing well, they may not be as inclined to net the veteran's services. Pham has been very productive in years past and could find his way to some fantasy relevance if he ultimately joins the Friars, however, most recently slashing .256/.328/.446 with 16 homers, 27 doubles, 68 RBI, and 22 stolen bases in 426 ABs across time with the New York Mets and Arizona Diamondbacks in 2023.

  • Tommy Pham Nearing Deal With Padres

    Headshot for Tommy Pham

The San Diego Padres are close to a deal with free-agent outfielder Tommy Pham, according to Bob Nightengale. The expectation is that it'll be a cheap one-year contract. The Padres could use the help in the outfield as this team does lack depth there. Currently, Jurickson Profar is penciled in as the everyday left fielder. The move to get Pham could give the Padres additional options for platoon type situations. Last season, Pham hit .256/.328/.446 with 16 home runs and 68 RBI in 129 games between the New York Mets and Arizona Diamondbacks. There probably won't be a ton of fantasy value from Pham, but it depends on his role.

  • Pirates, Padres Eyeing Tommy Pham

    Headshot for Tommy Pham

The San Diego Padres and Pittsburgh Pirates are both eyeing free-agent outfielder Tommy Pham. Pham is one of the top names remaining on the open market after he split the 2023 season between the Mets and Diamondbacks. He was productive in doing so, hitting .256 with 16 home runs and 22 stolen bases across 129 games and 481 trips to the plate. Pham has long displayed a quality combination of power and speed, slugging 130 homers and stealing 119 bases across 1,005 big-league contests. Regardless of his landing spot, he is worth a strong look as a mid-round pick in fantasy baseball as he has also been able to use his speed to score plenty of runs in his career while he also sports a healthy 11.6% career walk rate.

The Dodgers and Padres are set to kick off the regular season with the Korea Series in Seoul less than two weeks from today, and MLB’s 28 other clubs will follow suit the week afterwards. • Red Sox Interested In Tommy Pham

    Headshot for Tommy Pham

The Boston Red Sox are interested in a reunion with free-agent outfielder Tommy Pham, according to the New York Post's Jon Heyman. The Red Sox could use some more offense heading into the 2024 season. Pham spent part of the 2022 season with the Red Sox, hitting .234 (50-for-214) with six home runs and 24 RBI in 53 games. The 35-year-old veteran was better last year between the New York Mets and Arizona Diamondbacks and had some crucial hits in Arizona's unlikely run to the World Series. He finished the 2023 campaign with a .256/.328/.446 slash line, 16 home runs, 68 RBI, 22 stolen bases and 55 runs scored in 129 regular-season games. Pham still has something left in the tank, although he won't be a lock to return to the 20-steal mark, especially if he lands with a team where he's platooning in the outfield.

Pitchers and catchers will be reporting to Spring Training in about two weeks but a slow offseason means there are still plenty of free agents out there.
