  • Anthony Rizzo Returns To The Lineup Wednesday

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo (back) returned to the starting lineup on Wednesday against the Seattle Mariners and left-hander Robbie Ray, starting at first base and hitting third in the batting order. Rizzo missed the previous five games due to lower back tightness, but he's back in there on Wednesday. The 33-year-old left-handed slugger is hitting just .227 on the season in 348 at-bats, but he also has a .347 on-base percentage, .511 slugging percentage and an .858 OPS with 27 home runs, 66 RBI, 64 runs scored and six stolen bases in 98 games. Whenever he's in the lineup, he should be in fantasy baseball lineups in single-year leagues.

  • Anthony Rizzo Remains Out Of The Lineup Tuesday

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Seattle Mariners. He will miss his fifth straight game due to lower-back tightness. The Yankees are "being cautious" with Rizzo and will rest him for another game. According to manager Aaron Boone, he will go through a full workout on Tuesday, and if that goes smoothly, he could return to the lineup Wednesday. DJ LeMahieu will continue to handle first base duties while Rizzo is sidelined. The 34-year-old has been locked in the plate recently, hitting .385 (15-fo-39) with three home runs, five RBI, five walks, and eight runs over his last nine games.

  • Anthony Rizzo Could Return Tuesday

New York Yankees skipper Aaron Boone said that first baseman Anthony Rizzo (back) could return to the starting lineup on Tuesday against the Seattle Mariners if he has a successful workout on Monday and team trainers clear him. Rizzo is missing his fourth straight game on Monday with lower back soreness, but it sounds as though he'll avoid a trip to the injured list. Fantasy managers will want to check New York's starting lineup on Tuesday before reinserting him into their lineups. Since the All-Star break, he's hitting .244 (11-for-45) with five home runs, nine RBI and nine runs scored in 13 games, so fantasy managers will want to get him right back in there once he's back.

  • Anthony Rizzo Still Out Against Mariners

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo (back) remains out of the starting lineup on Monday against the Seattle Mariners. This will be Rizzo's fourth straight game on the bench due to lower back tightness, but fantasy managers should continue to consider him day-to-day for now. The 33-year-old does have a history of back injuries, though, so it's possible this becomes an injury that lands him on the injured list. DJ LeMahieu will make another start at first base and hit leadoff for the Yankees on Monday against Mariners right-hander Logan Gilbert. LeMahieu is usually a pretty solid DFS play out of the leadoff spot for a potent Yankees offense. He's also gone 15-for-46 (.326) with three home runs, six RBI and nine runs scored in 11 games over the last 14 days.

  • Anthony Rizzo Out Of The Lineup Sunday

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo (back) is not in the starting lineup on Sunday against the St. Louis Cardinals. Rizzo will miss his third straight game after being scratched from the lineup on Friday with back soreness. It's unclear if this injury will lead to an injured list stint for Rizzo, but fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day for now. In his absence, DJ LeMahieu will get the start at the cold corner and will hit leadoff on Sunday against Cardinals right-hander Adam Wainwright. LeMahieu will be a popular DFS play out of the leadoff spot. He's hitting .304 (7-for-23) with a homer, two RBI and four runs scored in the last week and is hitting .285 (103-for-362) with 11 homers and 42 RBI on the season.

  • Anthony Rizzo Dealing With Back Soreness

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo was scratched from the lineup with lower back soreness ahead of his team's game against the St. Louis Cardinals on Friday. Rizzo was replaced at first base by norma second baseman D.J. LeMahieu. The veteran first baseman has had back issues flare up on him previously this season, most recently forcing him to take a four-game break spanning July 5 through July 8. Rizzo should be considered day-to-day for now, at least until the Yankees give an update on his status. The former Cub is hitting .227 with 27 homers, 64 runs, 66 RBI, and six steals in 2022.

  • Anthony Rizzo Sitting Out Saturday

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo is not in the starting lineup on Saturday against the Kansas City Royals. Rizzo will take a seat after starting the last seven games for the Yankees. He's hitting only .225 on the year, but he has a .345 on-base percentage, 24 home runs, 59 RBI, 60 runs scored and six stolen bases in 333 at-bats to make him a must-start in fantasy. DJ LeMahieu is starting at first base and is hitting leadoff on Saturday against Royals right-hander Jonathan Heasley. Over the last two weeks, LeMahieu has gone 12-for-36 (.333) with a homer, four RBI and 11 runs scored in 10 games, so he's definitely worth considering in DFS on Saturday.

  • Anthony Rizzo Takes BP, Could Return Tomorrow

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo took batting practice on Friday and is likely to return to the lineup tomorrow, according to manager Aaron Boone. Rizzo has now missed four games with back stiffness but is evidently feeling better now. The 32-year-old veteran has enjoyed a nice bounce-back season in the power department, with his 22 home runs already matching last year's total. He has a good shot to top his career-high of 32 if he can stay healthy. Fantasy managers will surely take the power output, even if the .223 batting average isn't ideal.

  • Anthony Rizzo Scratched With Back Stiffness Tuesday

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo (back) is a late scratch from the starting lineup for Tuesday night's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. DJ LeMahieu will now be covering first base for the game. Rizzo is reportedly dealing with lower back stiffness. We should know more about the severity of the ailment soon. For now, consider him day-to-day. The 32-year-old has had an inconsistent 2022 campaign thus far. Over 77 games, he's slashed .223/.336/.507 with 22 home runs, 52 RBI and 47 runs.

  • Anthony Rizzo Takes A Seat For Game 1

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo is not in the starting lineup for Game 1 of the team's Saturday doubleheader against the Cleveland Guardians. Rizzo is hitting just .221 on the year, but he hit his 21st home run of the season on Thursday and has been one of the most consistent sources of power in fantasy this year. The 32-year-old left-handed slugger should be back in the lineup for Game 2 against Cleveland. Lefty-hitting Matt Carpenter will get the nod at first base and is hitting seventh in the Yankees batting order against Guardians left-hander Kirk McCarty. Carpenter does have three hits in 10 at-bats, including two of his six home runs, against left-handers this year, but he'll be a low-upside DFS sleeper in Game 1.

  • Gleyber Torres Returns, Anthony Rizzo Out Wednesday

New York Yankees middle infielder Gleyber Torres (ankle, wrist) is back at second base and is hitting fifth on Wednesday against Oakland Athletics left-hander Cole Irvin, while first baseman Anthony Rizzo will take the day off against the southpaw. Torres exited Sunday's game late against the Houston Astros with a mild ankle sprain, and he also took a few days off due to a sore wrist that he's been battling for a few weeks. The 25-year-old is only hitting .250, but his power stroke is back and he's sitting on 13 home runs and 32 RBI in 228 at-bats. Get him back into your lineups. Rizzo left the game early on Monday when he was hit by a pitch, but he returned on Tuesday and went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts. DJ LeMahieu is starting at first and hitting leadoff on Wednesday against Irvin.

  • Anthony Rizzo Good To Go On Tuesday

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo (elbow) was given the green light to play in Tuesday's game against the Oakland Athletics. He will be hitting third in the order for the contest. Rizzo was hit on his right elbow by a pitch from A's reliever A.J. Puk during Monday's game and he was lifted from the game after the play. He didn't seem very concerned about the injury after the game, so it's not too surprising to see him back in the lineup a day later. The 32-year-old has slashed .222/.337/.498 with 20 home runs, 50 RBI and 44 runs over 73 games on the year.

  • Anthony Rizzo Expects To Play Tuesday

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo (elbow) was hit by a pitch on his right elbow during Monday's game against the Oakland Athletics. He was removed from the game after the incident. While speaking to the media after the game, Rizzo stated that he expects to play in Tuesday's game. The 32-year-old went 1-for-3 and hit his 20th home run of the year in Monday's contest. After a rough May, he's been hot once again in June as he's compiled nine homers while slugging .545 this month.

  • Anthony Rizzo Leaves After Being Hit By Pitch

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo (elbow) left the game early on Monday against the Oakland Athletics after being hit by a pitch on his right elbow. It's unclear how serious Rizzo's injury is right now, but he's expected to go for X-rays. Fantasy managers need to stay tuned on a potential announcement later in the evening. The 32-year-old left-handed slugger entered Monday's contest hitting just .221 on the season, but he also has slugged 19 home runs, driven in 49 runs, scored 42 runs and stolen six bases in 72 games and 305 plate appearances. If Rizzo is forced to miss extended time, he'd need to be stashed in all fantasy leagues, while DJ LeMahieu could be the best candidate to see most of the starts at the cold corner.

  • Anthony Rizzo Homers Thursday

New York Yankees first baseman Anthony Rizzo hit his 16th homer of the season Thursday, a solo shot in the bottom of the ninth inning to end the game. Rizzo provided all the offense the team needed to win 2-1 over the Tampa Bay Rays, driving in both runs with his 2-for-4 performance at the plate. After a cool May, Rizzo has picked things up again with five homers and a .518 slugging percentage in June. In a potent Yankee offense, Rizzo is an excellent fantasy option.
